The phrase ‘trans women are women’ was a Trojan horse. This entire situation started by women being kind and considerate and parroting such a nonsensical phrase and after that it was a constant chipping away of boundaries and now look where we are.
Have you also noticed the sneaking in of two separate words? Trans women, like they are a subset, rather than the historic transwomen. I notice it everywhere.

Yeah, I have noticed it - it’s automatically autocorrected on many websites now if you type it in without paying attention.

Yep, to imply that it’s simply an adjective. Skinny woman, intelligent woman, trans woman.

Hell, no.

Absolutely loving the amount of sportswomen coming out in support of keeping sports single sex.

On Raquel's page it says that she has to raise enough money to pay the other side's costs in case she loses. Allison says she will be personally liable for over half a million in costs whether she wins or loses. Raquel's case has actually been heard, I'd forgotten, but they're expecting a judgement by the middle of May, although the judge did say he might request an extension.
But I’ve never heard of this before, is it normal? I thought whichever side loses in any court case is liable for all expenses incurred by the winning side.

No, the judge can decide what percentage of costs the winners and loses should pay its not automatically lower pays all. As an example, say you were suing for an injury and refuse an offer to settle and won the same amount or less in court the judge might decide that even though you have won you need to pay your own costs from the date the offer was made by the other side.

Sorry to keep firing all these questions, I’m just trying to understand. So how come in this particular case Allison is going to be personally liable for half a million in court costs whether she wins or loses?

I've seen a conversation on Twitter about this before, back when Fair Cop went to court the first time. Obviously that was a JR so probably different but people were asking will they get their donation back if the case is won (no). I can't remember the answer but it was something to do with the rules about costs being different for crowdfunded cases. 🤷‍♂️

In that case, I hope it’s clear in any news reports that write about this that the other sides costs have come from taxpayer money

If that's the case then pressure needs to be put on government to reduce funding by the same amount atleast

ETA will email my MP to suggest. Based on some of the reading recommendations she gives, I'm confident she is GC

TRAs are targeting companies that sponsor the female athletes that have spoken out about this issue, trying to bully them into dropping their sponsorship to the athletes for “transphobia”.

My only ponder is: With all this recent angry backlash and court cases coming to the forefront and being talked about after years of “no debate”, will there be a company stupid and clueless enough to publicly drop an athlete on this issue?

Interesting that he uses the word 'mutilation' a couple of times in describing the process of reassignment
I was thinking they’ll be raging at that but well said Professor Winston. Of course the blue hairs on the tinterwebs will think they know better than an actual professor 🥴😂

They’ll find that a bit hard with so many speaking out now. Bit different when it was just JKR sticking her neck out on her own. Now that’s loads of athletes speaking out, well respected ones too. Nice try TRAs but your time of silencing women is over.

I think it's significant that this is getting into football. The Lia Thomas story got so much international attention mostly because the press got good pictures - no-one in this country cares about a swimming competition in Kentucky besides the fact that a trans person won it, and cycling is also pretty niche outside of the Olympics and Tour de France. When transwomen start dominating women's sports that a significant number of people watch anyway regardless of any controversy, I think that's when the backlash will really gain momentum. In this country that'll probably be international football (maybe PL at a push), Wimbledon, or an Olympic cycling/swimming/track and field event.

It baffles me a bit that TRAs push for trans women to be included in women's sports because it seems like such a terrible PR move. Most of the existing problems caused by allowing them into women's spaces happen to vulnerable and marginalised women outside of the public eye, so they're easily dismissed by anyone who doesn't want to think too hard about it. Elite athletes have huge platforms and a literal audience watching them get beaten unfairly in real time. If this becomes mainstream enough, even people who'd rather not get involved are going to be forced to have an opinion.
