Even if it does mean my family is over. My husband has been a saint dealing with processing letting go of things.

The fact that the pigs are so woohoo about the camp this year, did the fundraising and were so freaked about Abbie showing aggression in public… This camp is one of the last places that will take her for even a few days. Nothing came of the vocational program. Therapy is an hourly thing and they have to at least pretend to care and be involved. C has checked out and leaves all she wants. A is screwed. When was the last time he’s had enough sleep and has had help? JSA?

More ”special” camp photos. This time featuring Golden Boy. It is hard to tell the campers from the buddies. I bet he will miss the experienc, but many photos share his high level of performance and anxiety. In our diocese, we use the Veritas program for volunteers and staff working with children and college students. Again, these photos indicate challenges with physical boundaries. In the first set, GB and other staff were riding on the back of a camper. Why carry campers around unless you’re assisting with a transfer of someone who is unable? And having campers kiss a fish, which I assume by the looks of one of the fish was used over and over the same day. It’s all a bit creepy! I did spend a summer working at a YMCA camp for kids from downtown Detroit. It was nothing like this, but it was not a special needs camp.

ETA: Sounds like Pig did not enjoy the 90 min jet ski tour. For those that are familiar with jet skis, you know that if Pig came off of that thing, it was an absolute chore for her to get back on it. I hope this happened and is on video too.

It's eye opening even for me to see Abbie outside of Asshat's narrative...and very sad. I have reviewed the pics of the other campers this week and even tho there are several that seem low functioning, Abbie is the only one I saw that was just completely unreachable and unaware. I really feel for her buddy..every pic the poor girl had a huge smile on her face..but it must have been frustrating and exhausting. I just don't think that camp is right for Abbie..for anything other then a place to warehouse her so the Massives can have a break..wonder if that is why GB left right during Abbie's week?

We used to live in the Miami area, both my kids were born in Hialeah and we'd drive down to Key West. We were at a stoplight once and a hooker came right up to the drivers side even with a wife and 2 kids in it. We've also live in West Palm Beach, Gainesville, and Orlando.

We went to Key West a few times ca twenty years ago. It was fun to get there New Years Day and watch the huge line of traffic trying to leave. I’d like to go back and go to Judy Blume’s bookstore and just putter around. Maybe take the ferry from Ft Myers. Currently we stay around Central Florida because we like to get away, but my husband’s parents need more help than they used to

We drink unsweet tea we brew ourselves from loose tea. My favorite is hibiscus. When I was a kid, my German relatives gave us that to drink. We like hot tea when the feels like temp is lower.
