I feel like all influencers these days are just big ads. I’m sick of them trying to sell me something. Most times it’s stuff that these influencers would never use themselves. For example, we see amylou eat breakfast most days. I reckon special k has been on the list maybe once and now she is selling this wonderful healthy breakfast. Wtf?

I know that is the main gig of an influencer but it’s not what made me follow certain people. My husband will unfollow anyone as soon as there is a paid ad. He reckons it’s not what Instagram should be about.
I'm on the Facebook group Like Minded witches Drinking Wine, and the general consensus is small businesses are over using influencers. They know that it turns a lot of consumers off.

@party bag are you saying Christian’s OF is free? So any child can access his account or anyone’s else’s I suppose and see his behaviour??? I would hate to think that minors could see that?

maybe she’ll use her straightener things but she looks like she’s got the nobbly bits off her teeth that hold them on if they were ever put on in first place. Same as sarita holland. She’s not wearing hers
I mean if a child wants to Google porn then they can look it up very easily. Only Fans is a site anyone can create an account and subscribe to free and paid porn. Its up to parents/care givers to monitor their internet usage and have filters for safe searching on. I’ve set up my daughters iPad and customised the parental controls, her usage is monitored and timed, she can’t buy or download apps either.

Forget filming an ad for Special k- that she never even actually eats, a more logical ad would've been for Froot Loops!
Giggling away to herself on the beach this morning... get in the box loopylou.

I am a true 10/12 never deviate from either size. I weigh 65 kgs and 170 cm tall. there is no way she looks like me. I would love to be a size 8 but I'm not and i'm not going to lie about it!
Oh this is interesting - I’m exactly the same height and 63-64kg and a size 8

Just on the influencers only doing ads, what do you expect them to do? Isn’t the whole point of an influencer to influence someone’s behaviour/purchasing habits? From day 1, any person trying to influence you into doing something is essentially advertising. Maybe it’s more overt now, but it’s always been the case.

I think these days some influencers are nothing more than #ad whereas there are still some who successfully integrate their #ad into their normal everyday activities and possibly believe in what they are selling.

In the end, they are all doing it to make $$$$ but some manage to do it a lot better than others.

It’s funny but I honestly reckon the overt non stop ad influencers are way more honest than the ones who pretend like they’re your mate trying to flog something but being super earnest about it. Seems like the measure of a ‘good’ influencer is when you don’t realise you’re being manipulated into wanting to buy something!

I cannot believe she went to the Zim Gala, Yum Cha and then had the crew over, but hasn't bothered even with her kids.

P.O.S.

A small business I follow posted last week that they were done with influencer advertising. They’ve found people difficult to work with and they’re not seeing the return on investment anymore. I think consumers are getting smarter and are over seeing disingenuous ads. I’m tired of influencers (eg Sarah Kearns) telling me to support small business when they don’t. Sarah wanted doll accessories, so rushed out to Kmart and bought hundreds of dollars worth. Then she’s gifted more stuff from a small business, worth over $500 and expects me to support them? She could afford it and chose not to. Why should I?

Weirdly, Emmylou actually is a big supporter of small business with all the free promotion she does for businesses at the markets. If they paid her, I wouldn’t find it off putting.

I currently co-own a couple of businesses and we've never used influencers. That's not to say that we don't have them coming to us offering their services though! You'd be surprised at the gall of them. I'm all for putting yourself out there, but ... well, no. Leave your service offering to those who advertise that they are willing to "collaborate" with SM stars.

My view is that there are very few who remain loyal to a single brand of a certain offering - they'll shill anything and everything that offers a buck.

I have definitely been influenced by some of these people (NEVER AmyLou - if anything - whatever she is spruiking turns me off buying that product/company).

The fact that she says she does not eat breakfast, but will then have weeties, totes with vegemite, a coffee with a bread stick and then plug Kmart really pisses me off.
