Also nutritionists and dieticians are different. Dieticians require a degree I believe, whereas you can be a nutritionist if you register with the board but are not allowed to claim to be a dietician. Slightly off topic I know 😂

Also you can fit things like that into calorie allowances!
Of course!
She exercises, eats a somewhat healthy diet (although arguably, the amount of sweetener and chemical "skinny" replacements she uses to mislead her body into thinking it's getting food are probably not the healthiest thing out there), nobody gains tons of weight from eating a donut every once in a wile,or whatever other treat floats your boat. That's the whole point of balance.... which she knows nothing about.

I’ve just got my Level 3 in personal training - So many PTs claim to be nutritionists when they have done a short course on it, it’s actually advised not to do that and to tell clients they can only advise roughly but not decipher what they eat in terms of macros, that is not their job.

Both actual nutritionists and dietitians have degree and masters level qualification

unfortunately with social media and Instagram, all of these terms are used so loosely and everyone and anyone seems to be an expert. Don’t forget to reference the REAL world when scrolling through your feed

That’s exactly it! I don’t think people understand that you can’t just call yourself something because you know a little bit about it. Very frustrating for people like yourself who put time and effort to gain a qualification.

Just to add that just because you are a personal trainer does not mean you are a specialist in an individual's health. A personal trainer is trained to "possess the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to design safe and effective fitness programs."

Whilst I am sure that there are many personal trainers out there who do care about their client's mental health, there are many who do not - and the ultimate goal for the personal trainer is to help that person with a fitness goal.

All this to say, we can't really blame Monica the PT BUT I think a lot of highly qualified PTs would notice the obsessive/restrictive behaviour patterns Emma is so clearly demonstrating.

She has said it herself that she has an obsessive, goal-driven, numbers-focussed personality.... which is not good for someone one a fitness/weight-loss journey.

im probably about to overshare but i look a lot more like before emma than after emma, and her behaviour with food and exercise has sparked self doubt and interpreting my habits differently. I have multiple chronic conditions that contribute to my metabolism, post exertional fatigue and chronic pain. I'll be on medication for life that all have side effects of weight gain. I can't just get up and go to the gym or on a 10k walk, a standard flare up for me looks worse than emma's tough leg day, and somehow i still feel a sense of gilt when consuming her content. I only realised this when i saw in a vlog she weighed out three grams of cheese and i pitied her at the same time as feeling judged for not counting cheese on top of pasta as an indulgence? i know relationships with food are subjective based on previous experiences, but please just eat the cheese!

Please eat the cheese indeed!
As much as I know the feeling of that struggle - Emma's behaviour is severely disordered, it's not something that we should be measuring ourselves up against.
(The next bit is not directed at you whatsoever and I hope you're getting though your chronic conditions alright!!)

Interestingly, Emma (and many other content creators) constantly self diagnose with things like depression, chronic fatigue, SAD, often completely taking those serious things out of context and making themselves seem more REAL RAW AND VULNERABLE by claiming that a bad day is just AnXiEtY (I have anxiety so I'm not playing it down, just saying these are real conditions to be treated and taken seriously) but when it comes to their real issues, their eating disorders and restrictiveness, when it comes to the things they're ACTUALLY suffering from, they completely miss/ dismiss them.

I was thinking about this and I do believe that these comments asking for food/fitness content are incredibly skewed. These commenters are mostly going to be from people who are following her content because of her biggest "hit" video, i.e. the weight loss video. They are searching the internet for likeminded influencers who share quick fixes or propel them further along in their own diet culture mindset, and then requesting more of the same content to fuel them.

Just because people request content doesn't mean you should make said content. If 50% or more of your videos could legitimately carry a trigger warning, then maybe its about looking inwards and thinking more about what you are morally comfortable with making.

Don’t ever compare yourself to that girl. Or anyone. She has so many problems, is airing them out for people to see, and unfortunately the loudest feedback to her is praise so she will continue. The most important thing is that you recognise her unhealthy habits and don’t want that for yourself. Always do what’s best for YOU. Good luck with your journey 🐥

@Yel how do we move this to the guru section? There’s no raving going on anymore and hasn’t been for a while 🤣 or do we have to make a new thread?

Deep down I do like Emma still, she seems like a nice girl, I just feel like she’s gone slightly out of control with her weight and food issues. She shouldn’t be sharing them so openly, but I don’t think she’s got anyone close to her that’s going to check her.

So sick of influencers pushing this BS... easy to manifest stuff when you only have to do 1 hour of “work” a day

Sorry but for how strict she is and how much exercise she claims to do she would be slightly smaller than she is.
I know we are all different and Emma lost a significant amount of weight a few years ago but...

remember she chooses how to present “the best version” of herself, and what she perceives that to be

**I in no way want to trigger Emma or anyone who reads this, we are all perfect the way we are and please seek help from loved ones or seek help with your GP, not tattle and youtubers xxx**
I just came here to say the same thing! Not that she doesn’t look great because she does, but if she was genuinely this restrictive and worked out and ran as much as she claims she’d have a very different body. I think she tries to portray herself very differently to what her actual day to day life is, which is sad because her videos are so damaging

Her recent video she said she wants to add value to people's lives through her videos. Doing what I eat in a day videos and talking about the gym and exercise so much doesn't add value to many people's lives...

She did not come off well in that video. And not just because she said she has a goal of 600 workouts this year!!!!
