Also, go to Leadley's YouTube channel and the majority of it is her music with the occasional vlog/video mixed in but they tend to be a few years old now. Bethan did what Emma said she'd do - she focused on music, she didn't try to appease everyone and continue doing everything. Also, Bethan has been consistent. She has her own style. Emma changes hers every week - and not only does she do this in her own music, but she does it with her YouTube videos/skits/vlogs too. It's a mess. No wonder she has no audience. She has zero consistency, so people flocked. She's backtracked so many times, changed her aesthetic, called her own previous work rubbish, shat on practically everyone she's ever worked with, and ungratefully moaned about everything. Drama, and about 57 too many videos going "I'm sorry about X, this is me now and who I really am, let's talk"One thing I still find funny is that despite how many songs she's released, and how much she tries to hype herself up you've still got the likes of Bethan Leadley who've had way fewer releases, doesn't abuse her audience and still manages to be far more successful, and has a far higher production value on her music.
Oh God that's so painful to watch. It's like the actual performer cancelled last minute and they've got someone from the crowd to give it a shot on the stage. She's not dressed the part first and foremost. There's "stage outfit" casual and there's "going to Tesco" casual and she's in the latter with this one.The stage behaviour reminded me a lot of a teeny bopper singing in front of a mirror with a hair brush also.
if you are brave enough...
I used to be a massive fan of her and as a teenager I unquestioningly bought a lot of her merch/tickets/music/book just to show support. But what alienated me was how quite quickly after something was hyped it was discarded and then insulted. What pushed me over was the book. It was hyped for a long time. I bought it and it not only wasn't good but also wasn't how she described and then I think she had a disagreement with Waterstones but it was never mentioned again.... and it was a hardback, which was more expensive! With Dodie maybe now I don't want any more of her merch but at least that was an organic changing taste and not because of her as a creator. It just got too tiring to invest emotionally or financially in Emma's new projects when they'd be abandoned or hated so quicklyShe’s constantly trend-hopping and changing her whole aesthetic every other month in hopes of finding the right niche of people to flock to her, when ironically, if she was just herself and stayed consistent she would find that audience. Hell, she had it before—it just wasn’t big enough to satisfy her.
Not to mention, even though this is probably due in part to her BPD, it’s possible to engage in new interests and experiment with new sounds/aesthetics/mediums/whatever without making it your whole personality. Even more possible to do so without shitting on the people who liked your previous work. That’s something that’s always thrown me off about her, since not only is she alienating potential new followers/subscribers/wallets (since we know she especially sees her audience as the latter), but she’s actively discouraging people from viewing her back catalog when that could be a great source of revenue for her (and is probably one of her main sources of revenue, since despite what she says we all know music isn’t paying her bills). The only thing that’s getting anything out of her acting like this is her ego, and that’s only a temporary boost until it depletes again and she needs to find a cheap way to get another boost.
She needs to start charging everyone for letting them live in her heard rent free.View attachment 737714
I've never known anyone to wilfully embarrass themselves as much as Emma. Why on earth would you bring this up? I guarantee nobody was talking about it.
Same shit new phase.
She made another one bragging about how she loves being toxic because she’s a Scorpio… like honey, i have so many Scorpio placements. Nothing to do with your star sign Emma you’re just a horrible personHow embarrassing being proud of the fact you’re toxic.
Don't forget the inevitable, "i was ill advised/spent more money than I had because I was lied to/The video where I walked like a bloke in the woods cost me £5000"That and the eventual "actually I was pushed into this aesthetic/style of music because I was lied to and told it would be successful"...
