You know when you get so much second hand embarrassment from watching certain scenes in films or series and cringe so much that you just have to pause it?

Yeah, I got that from the music video. I made it to 47 seconds. I'm sorry but the movements, sped up shots are making me physically cringe. I have nothing more i can say lmao.

Idk if any of you have been following what’s going on with Gabbie Hanna recently but I’ve had the realisation that Emma is just the British Gabbie Hanna at this point. YouTuber turned desperate wannabe singer, constant victim complex, can’t find any real sense of identity and bites at the first scent of drama. It’s rather uncanny.

One thing I still find funny is that despite how many songs she's released, and how much she tries to hype herself up you've still got the likes of Bethan Leadley who've had way fewer releases, doesn't abuse her audience and still manages to be far more successful, and has a far higher production value on her music.
Also, go to Leadley's YouTube channel and the majority of it is her music with the occasional vlog/video mixed in but they tend to be a few years old now. Bethan did what Emma said she'd do - she focused on music, she didn't try to appease everyone and continue doing everything. Also, Bethan has been consistent. She has her own style. Emma changes hers every week - and not only does she do this in her own music, but she does it with her YouTube videos/skits/vlogs too. It's a mess. No wonder she has no audience. She has zero consistency, so people flocked. She's backtracked so many times, changed her aesthetic, called her own previous work rubbish, shat on practically everyone she's ever worked with, and ungratefully moaned about everything. Drama, and about 57 too many videos going "I'm sorry about X, this is me now and who I really am, let's talk"

Go to Dodie's channel and she's the same as Bethan. She has her own style, her own vibe, like or dislike her, she's consistent and you know what you're getting. Her non music videos also vibe with her music stuff, and it feels cohesive and considered.

I've said it before but one of the worst things Emma ever did was combine all her YouTube channels into one. It made it so muddled. She should've kept one just for her music bits (and focus on that one if that's your true passion), and then another for vlogs/skits/gaming bits.

But nah, she smashed it all together, people got fed up of the style changing every week, and decided to abandon ship. Also doesn't help that Emma causes drama constantly, and blames everyone but herself, and just gives off negative vibes most of the time. Again, like or dislike them, compare Dodie and Bethan to Emma - and then ask yourself which 2 of those 3 give off the most 'welcoming' vibes. I know who it isn't gunna be.

The stage behaviour reminded me a lot of a teeny bopper singing in front of a mirror with a hair brush also.

if you are brave enough...
Oh God that's so painful to watch. It's like the actual performer cancelled last minute and they've got someone from the crowd to give it a shot on the stage. She's not dressed the part first and foremost. There's "stage outfit" casual and there's "going to Tesco" casual and she's in the latter with this one.

She has zero charisma or stage presence either. Just pacing around. She must've had at least some training in voice or movement? Anything at all? She's been doing this for years there's no excuse, especially if it's her "passion". Ariana Grande still takes vocal lessons despite being at the top of her game so no excuse for Emma to coast on YouTube fame and hope for the best?
Her singing voice is basically her speaking voice with some (very weak) vibrato.

She said there was one song she made that took 2 YEARS from start to finish?! She just seems to be going about her entire music career the wrong way. Her focus is on charts and clout and aesthetics, throwing a passive aggressive strop when it inevitably flops. Does she have a manager or any team helping her? She's been stuck in the exact same place since I first came across her 6-7 years ago I think.

She’s constantly trend-hopping and changing her whole aesthetic every other month in hopes of finding the right niche of people to flock to her, when ironically, if she was just herself and stayed consistent she would find that audience. Hell, she had it before—it just wasn’t big enough to satisfy her.

Not to mention, even though this is probably due in part to her BPD, it’s possible to engage in new interests and experiment with new sounds/aesthetics/mediums/whatever without making it your whole personality. Even more possible to do so without shitting on the people who liked your previous work. That’s something that’s always thrown me off about her, since not only is she alienating potential new followers/subscribers/wallets (since we know she especially sees her audience as the latter), but she’s actively discouraging people from viewing her back catalog when that could be a great source of revenue for her (and is probably one of her main sources of revenue, since despite what she says we all know music isn’t paying her bills). The only thing that’s getting anything out of her acting like this is her ego, and that’s only a temporary boost until it depletes again and she needs to find a cheap way to get another boost.
I used to be a massive fan of her and as a teenager I unquestioningly bought a lot of her merch/tickets/music/book just to show support. But what alienated me was how quite quickly after something was hyped it was discarded and then insulted. What pushed me over was the book. It was hyped for a long time. I bought it and it not only wasn't good but also wasn't how she described and then I think she had a disagreement with Waterstones but it was never mentioned again.... and it was a hardback, which was more expensive! With Dodie maybe now I don't want any more of her merch but at least that was an organic changing taste and not because of her as a creator. It just got too tiring to invest emotionally or financially in Emma's new projects when they'd be abandoned or hated so quickly

The impression I got from the singles (which is like 6 out of 10 tracks anyway) is that they all have the same theme.

"Woe is me, imma spill the tell, fuck all who wronged me."

Damn I think I just wrote a better lyric than she did.

Also...I've just noticed something. Around midday she did a "Morning!" post on twitter to get attention, her fans eagerly were asking how she was etc. And 9hrs later she hasn't replied to any of them. Like what the fuck. Why are these kids falling over themselves to get attention from someone who clearly does not give a fuck?

Is she trying to be all quirky and self aware?!
It would be cool if she didn’t make being toxic into this hilarious thing. Imagine someone who was on the receiving end of her toxicity and having to hear she’s making such a big joke out of it.
shhhh Emma, just shhhh.
also so so so so obvious she is reading here still 😂

I've never known anyone to wilfully embarrass themselves as much as Emma. Why on earth would you bring this up? I guarantee nobody was talking about it.
She needs to start charging everyone for letting them live in her heard rent free.

I sent her cover of How soon is now to my Morrisey loving husband and he replied with, I'm paraphrasing slightly, what is this fucking abomination? 🤣

Her Smiths cover video… no words 😂 A nearly 30 year old woman rolling around on the floor looking like she’s in bad Halloween makeup. She had so much potential, its such a shame to see her like this now.

It's such a weird time for her to be emulating Marilyn Manson with the many allegations of abuse that have come to light. And there's no way she doesn't see the similarities, I remember videos and looks of his from when I was about eight years old in the early 00s so she definitely does.

Well this just made me cringe myself a new arsehole. I vaguely know of Sunmi as a kpop artist and looking at her Twitter she just collaborated with Ed Sheeran...something tells me Crying version 12 (kpop edition) feat. Sunmi isn't on the cards, Emma.

That and the eventual "actually I was pushed into this aesthetic/style of music because I was lied to and told it would be successful"...
Don't forget the inevitable, "i was ill advised/spent more money than I had because I was lied to/The video where I walked like a bloke in the woods cost me £5000"

:ROFLMAO: I'd not thought of it like that. Bronnie got a really good deal here then, getting Emma to play for 3 dates on her tour!

Fully expecting the two of them to never ever talk again after the tour, the same with every other more successful act she's used as 'support'.

Emma's been on and off my radar for years. I check her out whenever she comes into my conscious (like I just stumbled across this thread) and the amount of rebrandings she does is absolutely exhausting!!! The thumbnails, the hair, the makeup and outfits. She was once a lush product reviewer, sims gameplayer, sketch comic, emo, makeup guru, storytime youtuber, north Korea documentary maker and I'm probably missing a few! She's a fully grown adult not a teenager, surely she must've found some sort of style/personality she likes by now?

Also, can someone let her know being snarky and catty isn't a personality trait? She's been acting like this for years and it isn't cute or funny? She can't pull it off. I remember that Q&A where she challenged herself to be "nice" and she was acting like someone had asked her to run a marathon or something acting like it was such a chore!

Also, does anyone get the feeling she was trying to go in the same career trajectory as Dodie and other similar singer/YouTubers, however has not had nearly a fraction of the same success. Idk the bitterness about her music not taking off is palpable imo. Adding to my above point, she acts so bored and as if YouTube is beneath her, I think she resents the fact she's still having to rely on YouTube and she wishes her music career had taken off instead.
I think the main reason for this is that she is incredibly disingenuous, she doesn't have a specific sound or look plus her voice isn't brilliant, as that one famous comment once said, she really is a poundland Paramore (sorry that's rude!)

Anyway sorry for this mini rant, I just saw this page pop up and remembered all these feelings LOL!

Edit: just went to check her channel and saw she did a "how soon is now" cover. One of my favourite songs has been ruined, my Lord that cover is awful! 😭
