She might not need permission but as someone with no professionalism, it'd be nice if she consulted families and maybe got some input.

It'd be even nicer if she removed content which upset them.

News stories inform people, Eleanor's videos are primarily for "entertainment". It's a different ball game. It's fine for victims and their families to be okay with one form of content and not another. That's their choice.

I do actually like Eleanor lol but Stephanie Harlowe is without a doubt the best in the YouTube true crime world.

Anyway just came to put my hunch in writing - i have a feeling she's had weight loss surgery. I feel she's looking a lot slimmer in the face and a few weeks ago there was a tweet about how she can only eat soft foods due to a "stomach problem" or something. Anyway if she has I'm happy for her, if not still happy for her!

Honestly what I've often felt about Eleanor and her audience is that they're very immature. I find it super annoying when she criticizes the sentence the culprits are given after the trial because it's clear she doesn't know anything about how legal systems work and that you can't just throw away the key for anyone who commits a crime.

The thing is, videos real cases of tragedies that happened and impacted so many people and causes the victim to lose their life, should NOT have the title sounding like a ‘true story animated’ video title. This is real life. Stop making it into a causal money grab.

There’s no mention of the pay. She’s posted another insta story answering some questions she keeps getting asked about the role (like the fact it’s full time) but once again she’s neglected to mention to pay. I’m sure that’s like the number one question so I’m guessing it’s not very generous so they’re not being open about it

The whole job description paints this amazing picture that you’re going to be working with someone with over 1 million subs. They mention that a lot, as if it’s an honour.

I actually used to love Eleanor and still watch her videos now (I’m that weirdo who always watches true crime before bed ). On YouTube she doesn’t annoy me - the sponsorships are a bit much but I just fast forward that bit. However her Instagram is a different story - it’s the fake accent, constantly effort to be different, hand movements and I hate to say this (cos I’m not skinny!) but she hides her body. After seeing that foot asylum thing I was so surprised - she’s deffo at least a size 20 - nothing wrong with that but I feel like she could be doing more to say “hey I’m successful and plus size!” instead she seems to have a weird shame about it and hides it at all cost? I know it might be an insecurity but she’s so popular and feel like it’s sad that she puts so much effort into hiding her body.

I disagree, I think in her latest couple of videos she looks awful. Nothing to do with her weight ( Eleanor when you read here). But I think she looks unwell lately, gaunt, dull, pale and dark circles under her eyes... An absolute shadow of the bright, glowing, happy woman she was when I first started watching.

I understand that she makes video titles more hyperbolic for views and on some of them, I do kinda get it (esp if the case is known for that detail) but 'murdered by her best friends' for a video about a disabled woman targeted by a group that took advantage of her disability rubbed me up the wrong way. Even if Gemma percieved them as friends and that was used to exploit her, the fact it was used as the video title after all is said and done seems a bit poor to me. I do hope she changes it.

its always her smug ugly face front and centre, To be fair, True Crime really boils my piss nowadays. Every Tom And Dick has their own podcast, youtube etc. Its the laziest form of content. Reads a wiki, fakes shock and or disgust, and rake in the bucks.

I agree, it's lazy and exploitative. I can imagine how pissed off actual journalists are after they've spent years researching and compiling their books, only to have them plagiarised by these makeup caked, vapid morons who don't really care about true crime at all. Most of these 'creators' are going to be screwed when YT goes down the pan. They have no talent or skills to put into practice in the real world. Just like 99.9% of ASMR youtubers.

Shout out to Mollie Westbrook, though. Her newest video has been edited to be much more watchable now that she talks faster and the dragged out last syllable of each sentence is cut short. She's one of the most bearable and genuine of the bunch, I think. I hope I didn't offend her with what I said, but it's awesome that she seems to have taken constructive criticism into account. I can't even watch Eleanor anymore. Absolute attention whore.

Very lazy because she's doing no more than regurgitating what she reads on Wikipedia or what she watches in a documentary. I doubt it takes her more than an afternoon to gather the information for one case.

She doesn't go into depth or speak with the families or even read message boards where sometimes, people who know the victim might post.

What I don't get though, is she still has to record for the same amount of time whether it's one case or two. She might as well cover more cases but condense the information.

When you contrast her to the likes of Kendal it’s insane she even gets views. Kendal does videos including stories directly from the families, raises money for charity, seems to really genuinely care and follows things up. Same thing with Danielle she seems to really care and always follows up. I can’t understand how Eleanor is still gaining views with the content she produces, if it’s impacting her mental health just stop doing it nobody is forcing her to.

Her comments about CAHMS mental health services in her recent video are so irresponsible.
Fair enough it’s not always great but the amount of young people in her audience and she’s saying they make your mental health worse could potentially be quite damaging!!

I feel like she makes comments like this a lot. I’ve mentioned on here before that she seems to criticise the police/social services/whatever authority is involved a lot. And yes, sometimes it is deserved. And to just blame them for what’s happened it’s purely down to them is quite dangerous. I’m sure some of the cases she’s covered haunt the police officers involved, and I’m sure they wish they did more, but that’s the benefit of hindsight.

I feel like every second sentence out of her mouth is "...if that makes sense??" she seems so unsure and unresearched when you compare her to people like Georgia Marie. Also she's started a second channel so she can do all the other things she wants to do and doesn't have to solely commit to True Crime, so it's obvious she isn't actually invested in helping victims or making change like other youtubers are who work with victim's families and raise money and awareness.

Although knowing that a lot of very young kids watch her, she might want to moderate some of her content. Not sure Peter Scully - one of the videos I watched and was kind of shocked how she got right into the facts of the grisly torture-rapes of toddlers and creation of extreme child pornography etc without really showing much more than a kind of suppressed glee at the awfulness of it - and that sort of shit is really suitable content for pre-teens. I wonder if someone presenting crime with her attitude really causes more harm than good, turning it into some weird form of entertainment with no thoughtfulness, redeeming or educational worth beyond that. Annoying girl.

She did this with the Junko Furuta case too. She knows her audience is mainly very young so she should've skipped the details and if these kiddies really wanted to know then a quick Google search (just like what their queen does after all) would bring up all the info anyway. I get that some people have a morbid curiosity for this kind of thing but out of respect for Junko and her family+friends it should've been omitted, but she almost seemed to enjoy telling it

I really enjoyed listening to her videos in the background. But then she did a video on a case from my area and said that she didn’t know the name of the place the victim was from. I was really confused about why she couldn’t just get that info one of the many news articles about it

After that I was put off and I stopped watching eventually cos I wondered if the other videos were accurate.

She does seem nice though. I was listening to a podcast interview with her and it does sound like a lot of work putting the videos together.

The comments are mixed. Some people are saying she does too many ads and it’s disrespectful. Others say it’s fine because she’s got to make a living.

I disagree with this comment though.

Ads in an tv true crime documentary are literally the equivalent of mid roll ads, which Eleanor also has. What Eleanor does is the equivalent of a witness or lead detective pausing the documentary to talk about raid shadow legends

Can’t agree with this, there’s a certain user on this thread who is incredibly disgustingly fatshaming and I’ve muted them myself because it just crosses all borders. No matter what Eleanors like as a person or what she does wrong youtube wise, her weight and appearance is none of our business
