Some fraycheck (Prym makes one that's available on Amazon) on the edges of the linen fabric before you stitch it down might help stop the raw edge fraying too much @WeepingCassandra
Thank you so muchProbably! I try and keep to myself. I just watch from the sidelines, taking it all in.
There are so many good kits out there now with lots of beginner friendly guides. Some Instagram accounts I follow:

I got my MIL a kit from this one which she found really good and she's familiar with cross stitch but a beginner embroider. https://instagram.com/sew.in.uk?igshid=58sjbuoqczzc
I hope those links worked![]()
Same here! I'm usually a paper crafter (cards, scrapbooking etc) but also like painting, needle felting and fimo. I really want to give this a whirl! I've bought the resin, just got to get the molds now. Will keep you posted!Ever since i seen the resin things like coasters trays and pyramids i seriously am thinking about getting the stuff and seeing if I can make my own but don't have a clue where to start but that is the route id like to go down i do have a drip art paint kit i got from the works so going to have a try that too
Let’s have a look then!Update: I have finished my beanie hat. I am.very happy with how it turned out. I might make some more in different colours when I have spare yarn.
I love a bit of embroidery! I can knit a bit but the patterns scare meI do a bit of crochet, I have a big blanket on the go that's not progressing as I have developed RSI but I'm doing bits of it once in a while. Due to the RSI I have just taken up embroidery and I think I've fallen in love with it, obviously, still a complete beginner. I can knit but only very basic and can't follow a pattern for the life of me.
Lovely! Love the colours. As requested, here's the crocheted basket made of scrap/leftover yarns! It's not QUITE as sturdy as I wanted it to be but stands up in a wobbly fashion...
Thanks, I honestly hope to get there one day, I'd love to give my neice one an have one myself, there's 100 squares in total an the magazine is weekly so not long till it's finished coming out, I'd love to try amigurumi but I worry I'd get frustrated with how small it isJust keep at it. There’s no rush. Unless you’re like me and promise a baby blanket etc and I run out of time and crochet like mad for days. I find crocheting relaxing as long as I get into a rhythm. I’ve recently got into amigurumi and have to count the rows, I forget where I’m at and then want to give up. So frustrating. Your Disney blanket sounds interesting and I’m sure with patience you’ll end up with something beautiful.
I do this and always underestimate how long something takesThat is a good idea. Look for clases in local area. There are probably some youtube channels dedicated to teaching beginners.
Please don't give up. There is no obligation to be good at a hobby or craft, just enjoy the process and the skill develops over time x
I have taken a break from my granny square project as I felt like I wanted to make something big.
I am making the Attic 24 Sungold blanket as I was gifted the yarn pack at Christmas. Usually the pack has a printed pattern, but this one was originally a CAL with a section released every week for 8 weeks. I had a quick look and my brain did this maths..... 15 colours = 15 stripes a week = easy breezy. Decided to try and do it in 8 weeks.
However....
Each stripe is actually made of 2 rows, so it is 30 stripes a week. Week 1 I was completely rows late into the night of day 7 to try and stick to my goal. I decided to do better on week 2...
Well it is week 2. I have 2 days left to complete this weeks section and I have 20 rows left. When will I ever learn?
Thank you pixxy, I love their kits - rarely buy them, unless in a sale. Thanks for the heads up. Sad for the company thoughIf anyone buys Cross Stitch etc by heritage crafts they've gone out of business.
So nows the time to get that kit you want as prices are already going up.
I love the By the Sea range so I had a surprise splurge lol
You must always buy two, one to stroke and admire, and one to use!! Hence my massive stash of pretty paper...Anyone else into papercrafting?
I do a lot of scrapbooking, memory keeping and journalling. My gripe this morning (related to @TheStrawberryThief s last post!) is that I bought some lovely rub on transfer stickers from AliExpress a while back, they're exactly my style (sometimes hard to find - I like 'realistic' stuff like watercolour florals and Tim Holtz but not as grungy, can't stand all this Kawaii aesthetic which is what seems to be 90% of the choice now) and I want to use them but also I don't because I don't want to 'waste' them even though I bought them for this exact purpose!
I’ll always stick something on to watch like a documentary and before I know it I’ve crocheted loads. What kind of hook do you crochet with? I find the clover type hooks more comfortable than the plain metal ones. I did buy a ‘granny’ armchair with arms that I find helps by resting my elbows so it’s more wrist movement that I’m doing. How do people keep themselves going with crafts? I got Disney crochet in the hopes it would inspire me to really get into it, am 90 magazines in an so far have done one square for my blanketI don't know why I can't just seem to get into it when I actually really want too
I also am finding it difficult to be comfortable with my hands if I crochet, I get cramps soon into it, am sorta of just holding the yarn with it going up an over my index finger, is there a better way?
I know, I was choked up when I saw. For someone who I only ever interacted with on Instagram she was so positive and a lovely kind soul. The comments were switched off on insta but not Facebook. 2 of the 3 bullies have responded on the posts![]()
