Does anyone do candle making? I've recently got myself into it an quite enjoying it, I got a starter kit but I'll need to get more wax

Is there any good brands out there? the kit just come with a few little blocks that I've mostly used now, I've looked online but it seems to be wax shavings, also looked at the reviews an the majority complain they burn too fast

I'd like to get non scent as I've got some little bottles myself for that, I have no idea where to start with looking for a good wax brand

Does anyone do booknooks? I've recently gotten into them an wondering if anyone does them what type of glue you all use, am using a type of runny glue but it's quite stringy with quite a large nozzle an most things I need to build are tiny

Look up the sewing institute on Facebook and look at their videos.
I’m local so have been to many sewing classes and they put loads of free video tutorials out. Scroll throughly to covid times they did lots then.

Ugh I'm so annoyed. I'm trying to make a garland that consists of a lot of flat-ish discs and even though I'm following the pattern, it just comes out round rather than almost flat. Does anyone have any idea what I might be doing wrong?

Do you think you could try and explain what you’re having the issue with and then maybe we can talk you through it? ( I firmly believe that if you have mastered the chain then you can crochet ).
Is it where to put the hook into the foundation chain, how to hold the hook, the tension?

its moving onto the next step which is working into the chain to make a stitch.. sorry IDK what the different stitches are called . my friend showed me but idt i have remembered it right .. something like you put the hook in the chain then you have 2 stiches on it then you loop the thread round and pull it through both. it seems difficult and like its all bunching up and im not sure if its meant to look like that.. I have the piece she worked on with me and it doesnt look right to me

on a side note the holding the wool round your fingers etc never works for me so i don't bother doing it

I love a bit of embroidery! I can knit a bit but the patterns scare me It's like another language.

I love cross stitch and am trying to make the transition to embroidery. If you have any tips or good accounts to follow it would be greatly appreciated

I love this although I prefer it in all one colour.
It will make a beautiful gift.
My go to for a baby blanket is the Call the Midwife pattern. Its so pretty and works up quickly.

I do a bit of crochet, I have a big blanket on the go that's not progressing as I have developed RSI but I'm doing bits of it once in a while. Due to the RSI I have just taken up embroidery and I think I've fallen in love with it, obviously, still a complete beginner. I can knit but only very basic and can't follow a pattern for the life of me.

I also crochet and recently bought an embroidery kit om etsy. It's for beginners but i am slightly intimidated by it.

I’ll always stick something on to watch like a documentary and before I know it I’ve crocheted loads. What kind of hook do you crochet with? I find the clover type hooks more comfortable than the plain metal ones. I did buy a ‘granny’ armchair with arms that I find helps by resting my elbows so it’s more wrist movement that I’m doing.

It's just like a metal one with a rubber handle on it, I've tried putting music on in the background to see if it will help, it just feels off putting at times because I am focused on the end product an right now that's 90 squares (which is my own fault) rathering than just focusing on the moment

You could do one in a heavier weight yarn, make it a bit quicker? They do take forever!

Is that crochet? You could try a bigger hook

I'd definitely recommend Bella Coco for crochet tutorials - I tried for years and couldn't get the hang of it until I tried her videos.

I'm about to start a granny square blanket that I've found a pattern for, but I'm feeling a bit discouraged as I keep having to look up various stitches to clarify exactly what they are. I know I can do a double, treble, half treble, but if I tried to show you I couldn't guarantee I'd be doing the one I told you I was!

Do you turn your square at the start of each round?
I started doing this after a Blossom Crochet tutorial and its a game changer. So much neater and it doesn't "twist".

Nope..sadly not. Our library which is only round the corner did a one off the other week but it clashed with a job interview chat. We did have a crafting group in my old office but it was weird. My friend was in it and kept posting pics on the intranet of all the ppl and projects at the group ut the several times I went I was the only one who turned up so just sat there reading my kindle and doing my massive chains LOL

Can anyone recommend a good circular needle set? I took up knitting in the last few months and am thinking of making a purchase. I am leaning towards Knitpro Zings. I have mainly plastic and wooden straight needles and the wooden ones have worn done a lot over the last couple of months so I want to stay away from wood/bamboo.
