This is me - I felt so much more Christmassy last year because I started early, with visiting Christmas markets, putting my Christmas playlist on, watching lots of Christmas films etc. Now it felt like it was over in a flash and I didn't really get to enjoy it as much as I would have liked. I always feel really sad once it's all over and taking our tree down yesterday hasn't helped :confused: Plus January really is such a depressing month. Any tips for prolonging that Christmassy feeling welcome lol! I might try and watch a few more Christmas films this week.

Same! well, I've had some of the heroes but I've not touched anything else and we got SO MUCH. My boyfriend on the other hand got a 1kg bag of sweets which were finished by boxing day night :ROFLMAO:

we opened our first box of Lily Obrien's choc's a couple of nights ago I can confirm they were delicious and now devoured :ROFLMAO:

I'm so glad the Christmas thread is still going!

All our decorations are down, but currently surrounding me in their various boxes and bags in my office, as I'm waiting for my sons to put them in the loft (tonight apparently...). This includes a Balsam Hill tree which I managed to get on a local freecycle page (it's only a little one but even so was made up to get it for nothing) and which I'm already looking forward to putting up at Christmas. Currently cheering myself up by the fact that it's only a little over 10 months til I can put the decorations back up again!

I'm determined to be more organised in 2024 (I say this every year!) and in particular to buy any decorations, potential gifts when I see them. Last year I saw a few things in October and thought I'll get those nearer the time, and of course didn't as they'd all gone. Years ago when my kids were little I had a present cupboard that I used to add to throughout the year (not just for Christmas, but other kids birthday parties etc), I think I need to re establish that, albeit the cupboard I used to use is now full of other stuff including the wicker tree skirt I bought last year which is massive and won't fit through the loft hatch 😂😂

My Christmas cake was a bit odd this year. I made the Jane's Patisserie one. When I had my first taste weeks later there was a burst and fizz on my tongue and a taste I couldn't put my finger on. I knew it was the liquid so lemon juice or the rum.
I got another opinion and they thought "a bit Carribeany". I dug out the rum bottle as it had quite a bit of rum in the cake and it said it was Carribeany rum, but I thought rum came from the Carribbean? 🤷
Anyway, a few weeks further on it's delicious but not my idea of Christmas cake. 😁😋

Oh no! I must’ve been lucky with my local store having stock (for once!) There’s some other cheap Christmas bits in the clearance too, lots is out of stock for me but it’s worth taking a look!

We’re putting our tree and decorations away this weekend (reluctantly). I always hate how empty it feels afterwards 🥺

I've already got two unused rolls of wrapping paper from last year and I bought some gift bags and a few cards in the sale.

For anyone who is looking for wrapping paper but couldn't get it from Argos, Card Factory has the 3 packs of wrapping paper for 62p. I didn't buy it as when I went to Tesco the other day they had individual rolls for 15p (I bought 6, probably should have got more!)

I've not seen any gift bags yet, I always to get them in the Wilko sales after Christmas 😞 I miss Wilko!

I managed to swipe 2 lots of the Argos paper before seeing it on here & picked up today. £1.30 for 6 rolls & tags etc. Also got a 3 pack from M&S for £1.88 or something. Nicely restocked...even though I still have Debenhams paper to get through. I miss them for sales post xmas too!

BHS was one of my favs 😪

I'm going to be more organised this year like I usually am. We moved house on 1 December and it went down to the wire so I didn't do much shopping or planning beforehand. And putting the tree up was delayed, plus first year in this house I was figuring out where to put stuff as I went.
I was hoping to pick up a nice garland in the sale but haven't seen any. I have a beautiful mantle now that I haven't had previously and it needs something with wow factor. I also want loads of candles of different heights sitting on it.
I've made a note on my phone of what changes I want to make for next year, what food to buy more of etc. I definitely want to buy myself something lovely to wear as I felt a bit meh this year!

I have to agree with others that some of the Christmas sparkle was missing this year. So the 2024 edition will be different! I am planning on booking the big lunch out somewhere, so I can dress up and be waited on for a change. Then I'll cook cold meats for boxing day, and have a good drink and a bit of a party without all the stress. I'm always absolutely shattered christmas day from hosting and all the prep, so as I'm very likely to be working this Christmas eve, I'm determined to do it differently this year. Time to be a bit selfish I think.

Booked a cruise for the Christmas week. Just me and my husband. No cooking, cleaning, family arguments. Just us and relaxation.
