Spent the last couple of days making this for my nanny for Christmas. Think it turned out pretty cute

The decorations have been down for about a week now, but we've only just got around to moving all the living room furniture back to where it lives for 11 months of the year 
After moving the sofa, we found 3 tubs of mini cheddars, twiglets & the cheese Christmas trees as well as a box of M&S "outrageously chocolatey" biscuits that I apparently hid behind the sofa for Christmas

Hi guys. Joining the thread as I’m Christmas obsessed and this year feels extra special because at the grand age of 40, we’ve finally been able to buy our first home after 24 years of renting and having to move to a new house every year or two. We need to renovate but we will be in for Christmas and I’m so excited to have our first Christmas there. 
This morning I’ve been putting lists together for personalised advent calendar gifts for my 2 kids and husband. The kids are pretty easy but I’m so stuck on the husband as he’s not your typical football mad, beer swigging, pub night, movie loving lad. He’s an old fuddy 45yo with not a lot of hobbies
I love him but my lord he’s hard to buy for. So far I’ve got:
1. Chocolates
2. Beard kit
3. Socks
4-12. ????
Wrecking my head and it’s only august. At least I’ve got some time.

I adore Christmas. But every year I realise that I love the build up and preparation more than the day itself.I totally agree! I usually have post Christmas blues but this one was something else. I cried on the walk up to Aldi because someone was taking their lights down the other day. I love the buzz in the weeks leading up to it, seeing the lights go up, the music (yes I know

We don't usually have a starter as we eat so late, but I do freshly baked rolls (I even did little butter curls last year to go with it 
)
For meat it's always chicken (unless my Aldi Christmas Eve shop throws up some massively discounted other meat...2 years ago it was a beautiful joint of beef reduced from £40 to £10!)
Then we usually have
Stuffing
Pigs in blankets
Yorkshire puds (just the mini frozen ones I can't make my own)
Roast potatoes
Mashed potatoes (mainly for younger son who prefers them)
Cauliflower cheese
Sprouts
Parsnips
Broccoli
Peas & carrots
After that we are usually absolutely stuffed, so we either don't have dessert or if we do it's just something like one of the Aldi mini vienettas on a stick, or a handful of Celebrations.
Just to say that I also love this thread
I'm at a bit of a low ebb currently for various reasons but this thread never fails to make me smile, and remind me of happy memories of past Christmases!

I save £3.75 a week from September to September giving me £195 to spend on presents. This is spilt in to £70 each for my 2 young adult children, £25 for a close relative and £30 between my parents (I buy them a Tesco voucher)
I also save another £1 a week over the same time period giving me £52 to spend on some Christmas food goodies like a tub of celebrations, some pringles, nuts, a 4 pack of J2O and a couple of the £1 advent calendars.
Love reading how much others spend at Christmas even though I could never afford it! Christmas is what you make it no matter how little or how much money you have.

Last year a few of us did a Christmas film watchalong for a few films (sorry can’t remember the @ of whoever organised it!) but wod be fun to do it again with some more of us this year. We could do some well known films as well as more low budget shit Netflix ones

It’s my birth week and to celebrate, this is the bowl I’ve used for breakfast and dinner today. Might be the bowl I use for every meal this week

Me and my husband always miss a decoration or two. This year I went round and collected everything from around the various rooms I.e. the nativity that's jn the hallway etc. Felt very smug that I had collected everything and not missed anything this year, until I got home from work yesterday and saw the doormat

So Hoeseasons have cancelled my Christmas getaway with no explanation!! I got in touch with the park directly and apparently the one I had booked is a privately owned one and they've decided not to rent it out anymore!! I'm so annoyed, we booked this on 1st January. I get they might not want to rent it out anymore but they should at least honour existing bookings. Now I have to spend the afternoon finding an alternative that wont cost the earth. Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh 
Each child gets stocking fillers to suit their individual tastes etc. football cards/stickers, lip glosses, Lego minifigures but we have a general list of traditional stocking fillers in our family.
-Tube of sweets/chocolates
- Chocolate coins
- Clementine/Satsuma/Terry’s Chocolate Orange
- Scratchcard
Everyone’s favourite… an envelope of 10-20 printed photos, highlights of everyone’s year in photos. Children and adults love it. Means that the children each all have their own stash of family photos collected.
I’m sure our ‘list’ has more to it and I’m forgetting something.
Would love to know everyone’s traditions for stockings.
Also ours are ‘hung by the fire with care’ but by the morning they are filled at the end of everyone’s bed. The children bring them into our bed and we all open them on mine and dad’s bed before we go downstairs.
