Oh no! I had no idea they shut down all of their stores in Ireland! 😓
Oh yeah. It was a huge scandal. They franchised their Ireland stores but whatever happened with the new owners they ended up in serious debt. A lot of the employees got no warning and showed up to work to find themselves out of a job. Awful 😔

I managed to swipe 2 lots of the Argos paper before seeing it on here & picked up today. £1.30 for 6 rolls & tags etc. Also got a 3 pack from M&S for £1.88 or something. Nicely restocked...even though I still have Debenhams paper to get through. I miss them for sales post xmas too!

BHS was one of my favs 😪
yes BHS Christmas section was always a big draw

And Paperchase. Yes, I'm still bitter always will be. The branch on Westbourne Grove was immense.

I miss Paperchase 💖
My notebook buying has drastically slimmed down since their closing! You can get some of the range online from tesco, but it's not the same 😓

Just reading about this. Sounds good if you've a big family (only one present to wrap). It enables you to cap spending limits. It allocates recipients and helps you to set up a wishlist.

Also read about gifting babysitting, a taxi voucher, helping in the garden or dog sitting.

And this company who do eCards. A one month membership is £5 or annual fee £24.
I have a lot of November/December birthdays so this combined with Christmas might make it worth it to try it out at £5 for a month to see if it's worth it.

First Christmas 2024 present bought, and shockingly it’s not for the kids ha, it’s for the husband! He’s a big fan of Lee Child so preordered a signed copy for £11 from Waterstones, they take payment on pub release date (October!) if it helps anyone else!

I was also a huge Paperchase fan- all of my previous journals were £12 ones from there. They have been bought by Tesco, but I haven't seen much.

Have a look at Papier as an alternative. Pricer but they have £12 off referral codes online and black friday sales.

I've bought one gift and have been picking up bits & pieces for others as I see them. Also managed to get a lot of bottle bags, pot pourri, Christmas oils and 2 decorations in the sales.

I can’t remember who it was, but someone here mentioned using a catalogue company to save for Christmas - have just seen this dedicated Christmas savings account mentioned on another forum that you might like - 6% is fab!

I recently switched to Nationwide and they currently have an 8% savings account, you can deposit up to £200 per month and withdraw 3 times in a year (but obviously once before Christmas would be best!) 🙂

Christmas felt very rushed and last minute due to life with a newborn. I am excited for Christmas 2024 already and my Pinterest is heaving with ideas and plans already ❤

Any ideas for cute traditions to start with little ones?

Instead of a christmas eve box, I got my kids christmas pjs, a new book each and chocolate coins and wrapped them up.
We always go for a walk to look at the christmas lights, watch a christmas film with a hot chocolate (lots of marshmallows of course)!
This year I want to make it a yearly tradition to bake gingerbread men/houses. Ive never done it but looks so fun and the kids will love getting involved! Only january but I'm already excited for December 🎅

I placed a (hesitant) order with Temu recently and it arrived this morning. I ordered some scarves, bags, a figurine and other little bits as add on gifts for Christmas. I'm over the moon with everything, the quality is amazing and the prices were pretty reasonable as well. Might be worth a look for anyone looking to spread the cost over the year.

Please google Temu.
BBC have an excellent expose.
They use enforced labour (people who disagree with the government) 16 hour shifts with one small break and that includes children, living in camps, one room per family.
