I work part time and people are so confused when it’s not because of children!! Weekday drinks are the BEST!
[/QUOTE]

I was lucky enough to be able to cut my hours to 30 purely because I don’t have children. It absolutely blows people’s minds when I say I’ve been out for a few drinks during the week or spent 3 days off doing literally NOTHING apart from cuddling my cat & husband.

I have a friend who is childless and cut her hours. Now I'm reading the posts on here I'm reading she has been suffering passive aggression from her sister in law as they have children. If they go on holiday together the family with children are the important ones. Next time she tells me about the latest bout of aggression I think I'll say something to her about it as at the moment she can't understand why they're doing it and thinks it's her and she's going mad.
She's also had passive aggression from a friend with children which shocked me. It's like insidious bullying. 🤬

Yes!!! That sounds perfect to me. I went part time because of my health but if you cured me tomorrow I’d never go back to a full working week if I could help it. It’s the best thing I ever did for myself! There’s too much of an expectation that people have to fill their time doing ‘meaningful/productive’ things for themselves or other people. I just want to enjoy my life, I’m not interested in being a girlboss or super mum, I don’t have the stamina, patience or interest 😂

My favourite things about being cf...

I get up in the morning, make my breakfast and drink my coffee in peace.

If I want to go out spontaneously I can. Going grocery shopping is easy, I make a list and off I go. No worries about trying to get a kid ready and then them acting up when out.

My car stays clean!! Do you know how many posts from parents I've seen and their cars are filthy.

I'm in my 30s and I still look like I'm in my 20s, actually barely any wrinkles. My body still looks fab too and I work for it. I can exercise daily and not have a child distract me.

Not worrying about money as much. Times are precarious financially for many, we have a good income but if we had a child I imagine it wouldn't be as stable... Daycare costs are crazy, factor in extra food, clothes, hobbies etc. 🥴

Husband and I have time for our hobbies. If we want to go and play golf, we can. We don't need a babysitter. We don't have family close by so that would make having a child even more difficult.

We can vacation whenever we want. We don't have to do it when the kids are on holidays.

There are many more reasons too.

The argument that childfree folk have "too much time on our hands" I can never understand? What counts as "too much time"? As Molly May said, we've all got the same 24 hours in a day 😂 I don't know about you lot, but I've never got to 3pm on a Saturday and thought "Ugh NINE more hours?!"

It seems like a saying used only by people who don't have any free time (such as parents). Do they expect we should be curing cancer in our free time?

What do you sew?
Clothes for myself, I need to get more into it and spend less time on social media lol! I did alterations as a lockdown job and it absolutely killed off my love of sewing for about 2 years (note to self: never turn your hobby into a job again!). This is my fave thing I’ve made, can’t breathe in it though 😂

I'm the opposite haha, no food allowed in my car! It's immaculate and I'd like to keep it that way
Same!

I've been told more than once that my house looks like a showroom because it is so organised. A lady came to pick up an old bed that I sold online and she said "Wow, my children would destroy those white walls" and I replied "And that's why we don't invite them". Thankfully she took it lightly 😅

I think I’ve said this before but I’ve been around elderly people after their spouses have passed away and I’ve not really noticed them having children as something which has made them feel in any way better . Like people go on about how children complete you and all that but when my grandpa died my grandma certainly wasn’t feeling any better for her kids or grand kids being around and it was same on my other side of my family when my granny died my papa wasn’t arsed about having any of us .
i just cba with kids and I feel people my age are such martyrs about it and actually seem to want to be middle aged before their time like being in their mid 30s and taking pleasure in saying stuff like how that’s them pushing 40 and going on how they don’t have time to spend on makeup and hair .And kids these days don’t seem to be left to entertain themselves at all the parents seem so over involved with every detail of their lives as a kid in the90s I just don’t remember my parents or any of my friends parents micro managing them so much ?

I don't get this either, boils my blood. I really believe this is said by people who don't enioy their own company. If you don't know what to do with yourself when you're not attached to child, get a life.

Same, to be honest I am bloody exhausted. I work 4 days a week, no kids and I barely have enough time to do anything. I have yet to make it to the gym this year as by the time I get home its gone 6/7pm. Then tidy/cook etc. Days off are housework, admin, appointments, socialising. How do people have the time to have kids?

For me I am not prepared to give up my sleep, my time, my luxuries (health club, nails, designer items, my tidy and clean house and frankly I just don't have any desire to have them. What exactly do they add to your life? I love my cats dearly by oh my do they get on my nerves when they are naughty/dirty or up at 4am playing zoomies.

the worst bit is, I am the only person who EVER goes in my car, so the mess is entirely my fault.
I am the same. I love when it's cleaned but for some reason it just gets dirty 😀

Another note just booked into a hotel 2 hours away for Friday and Saturday night .. No worry about bringing kids or getting them minded.🎉

There’s so many hobbies I want to try out, places I want to visit and things I want to do I can’t fit it all in! It’s difficult to prioritise everything and everyone when the days are so short and I love to sleep 😂

How many cats do you have? I don’t want pets myself but I do love them and cats are one of my favourites!

Exactly this!!!! Last night I was too tired to even make dinner so opted for an 11 hour sleep instead 😅 Don't get me wrong I am in awe of how parents manage it, I just couldn't fathom how I would find the time to look after anyone but myself haha!

I think a lot of it is having someone who (in theory) will always be "theirs", will always love them, they can always hang out with, etc. Of course we all know there is absolutely no guarantee of that!

I love hanging out with my mum and dad but hardly anyone I know (late 20s) hangs out with their parents much. Some of the friends i went to school with moved abroad, and I know a lot of people who don’t speak/aren’t on good terms with their parents. Having kids is not a solution to loneliness

Completely get this! I hate the new trend of influencers complaining about birth and their children (it’s called labour for a reason, it’s never going to be easy! 🤣) being a parent is full on but it’s definitely not all bad if you’re prepared. Theres definitely pros to both ways of life! You're welcome on the thread anytime! ❤
that’s cos loads of influencers have been conned by hypnobirthing devotees (or had classes gifted etc etc) and the rest not to use ‘labour’ and such language and think of ‘surges’ and ‘breathing baby out’. Oh and ignore people who try to forewarn or inform. Then when it transpires it’s not really that type of predictable, ‘you got this, boss babe!’ process, bubble burst and anger/indignation all round!
you wouldn’t use that type of tit for any other op would you “you got this gall bladder removal, babe! Go smash it!!”
