So much in that Daily Mail article makes me want to heave. Hannah's performance at Wimbledon, lowering of flags/clapping/lighting candles/illuminating of buildings at Tom's passing (wtf?!) and the live broadcast of his funeral despite the family saying they wanted to be left alone to grieve in private!

But I'm glad that the scales are falling from peoples' eyes, especially in the village where Hannah lives. "She thinks she's a celebrity, milked her dad, property extension, hot tub, garden landscaping, pissing off her immediate neighbours, etc."

Dame Sarah looks so embarrassed to get all that applause and attention. She was just doing her job in her eyes.

Hurricane Hannah though? Lapping that tit up. What a complete tosser!

The way they saved announcing her till the end showed they were expecting a big ovation, more than the others got, and kind of conditioned the crowd to do it, as well as giving Hannah the impression she was the most acclaimed.

Half the roads round here were closed for that funeral! Police escorts and police outside the crem, plus a gathering of people. I drove past before it was all closed off and was like wtf is this 🤣

I knew the son in law suggested the idea but I didn’t realise how orchestrated it was

“The 64-year-old is an experienced businessman. According to Companies House, he is or has been a director of 51 firms.
It was his wife who then suggested a £1,000 target and sent out a press release to local media.
Once Captain Tom’s campaign gained traction — first in the local, then national, then international media — the Ingram-Moores ran it in a robust fashion.
A fence was soon erected around the property to keep out prying eyes, thanks to Nick Knowles, star of the TV show DIY SOS.
And it was Knowles’s PR adviser who put the family in touch with the London media lawyers Schillings, who agreed to give the family free advice.”

I’d never seen this! Cringed my arse inside out at her! Who she think she is? Evita??
Oh god I’m shocked she didn’t break into ‘don’t cry for meeeeeee centre court’!!! This just sums up the present day uk. Lots of clapping for the scientist who looked embarrassed, a smattering of applause for our nurses who seemed out of place and then the Tory grifter lording it up like she’s the real hero. Excuse me I’m off to vomit.

How the heck was Nick Knowles involved and why did his pr adviser advise Schillings?

Both Nick Knowles and Captain Tom were managed by the same PR company. Which beg the following questions:

1. Why would CaptainTom need a PR company and who arranged it?
2. Why would the services of a top London law firm be needed?

Curiouser and curiouser

Yes!!! Complete with Hannah saying her ‘enemies’ are after her, please send cash!!! She’s right up there with the tinder swindler.

This was particularly disgusting to me as we had in the region of 1,000 people dying a DAY who were just statistics, now gone and forgotten. Well no actually, they were all people that deserved a damn site more than a government that mismanaged this entire situation from the start. But we had to treat ONE person as better than everyone else even though they travelled thousands of miles and put themselves and others at risk. I’m still so angry.

that was exactly the documentary comparison I was thinking of :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: would be surprised if it has not already been suggested

Totally agree, I also feel that the government focussed on him as a distraction from the fact that the NHS is SO badly funded that they need to get charity donations based on an old man walking in a garden. When we look back on this (during hte netflix doc :ROFLMAO: ) it will seem unbelievable

It's even worse than I remembered - fancy coming after Dame Sarah who absolutely deserves it and is graceful, and then Hannah blowing kisses... Christ....

'One of the daughters of Captain Sir Tom Moore...'
Wow, what an achievement

My gut feeling is that the press went sniffing into his business dealings and personal life.

I’m not saying the nhs charities don’t do good work, staff moral and support is vital but all along it was played out as if Cap Tom was saving the nhs itself and funding actual medical care when it went to the nhs charity which isn’t allowed to spend it on care, and as far as I’m remember not allowed to spend it on ppe either!

How cringe was that?
And how come only “one of the daughters of Captain Tom Moore” got an invite?
Or perhaps the other daughter had the dignity ilk avoid the circus that followed anything with her fathers name attached.

I loathe this ‘staff morale’ bit when we all know the way to raise staff morale is to pay them properly and fund the NHS properly so they’re not doing the work of three people. They don’t need quiet rooms and wide screen televisions- stop freezing their pay!!! Ok I’ll get off my soapbox for two minutes until I get annoyed off again.

Exactly. During the first lockdown a bakery local to me did boxes of cakes and afternoon teas and you could buy an extra box and they’d give them to the staff at the local hospital. So people willingly bought the boxes thinking they’d be given to the doctors, nurses, midwives etc but they went straight to the management I don’t think the staff in the thick of it all even got a crumb.

I wouldn't class Hannah's sister or daughter as being part of this circus.
I always thought it very odd that it was HI-M’s family only who attended his investiture at Windsor Castle and not the his two daughters. I wonder if there is a longer term difficulty between them? Hannah always acts like she is the only child - even if her sister has sensibly chosen to stay out of the spotlight you’d think there would be more of an acknowledgment that she’s equal to ‘Hx’

The thing is, that’s a nice gesture and most of us wanted to help in any way we could but cakes and teas aren’t what clinical staff need. They need a properly funded NHS where they aren’t being worked to the point of burnout and they need a proper wage increase. That alone could do away with any charity offering sticking plasters. I feel like the nhs charity is more about making the general population feel good rather than face some hard truths. The NHS is not a charity and it needs to be properly funded. Where’s the 35 million a week? Where’s our national insurance hikes going? Everyone seems to prefer watching an old man walk up and down rather than ask the difficult questions.
