I've never read Brooklyn (or planned to) but now I need to know what the duck happens on page 2

I only ever read non-fiction but I need some escapism & stuff less depressing.

The only series I've read as an adult were Millenium and the Neapolitan Quartet. Both are a bit depressing but in a weirdly good way

Half excited, half nervous. I'm on the waitlist for it at the library so I will report back! I wonder if they will do another film, the first was perfection.

OK I have officially given up with The Last Mrs Parrish, I got to the broadway play part and just couldn’t take anymore, The Housemaid is literally a chapter by chapter replica. I feel pissed off on the authors behalf, a quick google and it seems a lot of people have noticed (although that’s no surprise)

I let slip that I have in my possession the only book available in my area of the last ever Lucinda Riley book.
If I was a toddler I would be bouncing up and down on the settee with excitement that I finally have it.
The other person was bouncing up and down with excitement that she actually knew someone who'd read the series from the library. She can't wait to read the last book.....
She was distracted by someone and had to leave at that point.
Now I've got a bit of a cold dread that I might not live to finish the book as she can find where I live.........once she realises what I have said.....oops!

I’ve finished my reread of The Passengers which I first read in 2019. It was the book that first got me into speculative/dystopian fiction.

Can’t believe how much of it I’d forgotten!

I really enjoy these types of books where you can almost “play along”. He does it in The Family Experiment too where you can think about who you’d choose or vote for in the situations.

I found each characters backstory interesting and then thought the second half of them, delving further into the how’s and why’s was clever.

I’m actually pleased I have a terrible memory and instantly forget plot lines because it felt like I was enjoying the book as a first time reader and I had no idea how it ended.

Hi guys! New to this thread just found it! I normally read romance with the odd thriller thrown in (usually by frieda McFadden as always fast paced). But recently I’ve been reading a lot more thrillers and preferring them over romance atm! Can anyone recommend some to me please? I have so many romance on my list but not sure where to start properly with thriller. I’ve read AGGGTM (all 3), a few frieda McFadden, next of kin, local woman missing. My most recent were Clickbait (loved this) and strange sally diamond (5 ). Anyone chuck a few at me! I have kindle unlimited aswell! Thankyou

How about Lucinda Riley’s Seven Sisters series? There’s a bit of romance in each, mixed with a bit of historical fiction. Each book is about one of the Seven Sisters (as the name suggests!) who have been adopted by a slightly mysterious father figure, and is about them finding their different family histories. There’s also an 8th book about the father that wraps everything up so plenty to keep you going for a while if you like them!

Anyone else finding that amazon will randomly reduce kindle book on their wish list to £0.00? It’s not kindle unlimited or prime reading. I’ve just bought a book for £0.00, last month I bought 3 at £0.00 and 2 in May. I check my wish lists daily and often snap up books that are reduced to 99p but recently they’ve same have reduced to 0.

I check my wishlist every day and this has never ever happened to me *cries*

I'm partway through The Housemaid is Watching and I'm not sure what's happened this time round but Freida's writing is almost unbearable. I feel like a simpleton with how she's over explaining even the most basic point.

There is nothing more frightening than being called by your child’s school. There is nothing they could possibly want to tell me at one o’clock in the afternoon that is good news. The principal isn’t interrupting my workday to tell me that my kid has won a spelling bee.

They only call for bad news. Like two years ago, when Nico fell off the jungle gym and broke his arm. That was a call at one in the afternoon.

The storyline is interesting as usual though.

Later on in the book one of the characters says something about the third book in a series always being the worst. Which is often true but I don't know whether FM is trolling us?? Like she has churned out a really tit book (I gave it 2*) and has the cheek to say about third books being naff??

Thank god its a quick read! I presume the books have been written so people don't need to read every one or read them in release order to follow along, but if Millie explains why she went to prison or her and Enzo helping women ONE MORE TIME..

And because the book is so fast paced I feel like I'm running into these facts every 3 minutes!

Yeh I enjoy FM as a quick palate cleanser but this books was quite poorly written/edited imo

I've read it. I didn't love it. It's the kind of book I should enjoy, but I remember finding everyone annoying. That's just me though. I can see why someone would recommend it.

My box set of Throne of Glass has arrived. 8 books to savour, but I have a TBR a mile high, now I need to decide what I'm reading for the rest of the month as I don't want to binge the series. Book problems, eh?!

Currently I am reading Death Comes to Marlow, and Clickbait, so I will at least finish those first
