Not that I am here to brag but it is 576 date since I bought a book. Really make inroads into my physical book pile, I wanted to get that under control. The only books I am keeping are the ones that have moved me in some way, ones that have got under my skin and series I have enjoyed - Cormoron Strike etc..

I have gone through my Kindle and removed all the Kindle First reads I got for no reason, and a lot of other books that just were just bloatware. Once my physical pile is done I will be onto the Kindle.

Can I join in this thread? I think my partner is bored of hearing me discuss the books he doesn't really like 😅

Talking of mystery wrapped books, I received this today. I have no idea who sent it.

And it contained :

Which is a book and author I have never heard of but which sounds right up my street.

It is a realy mystery to as to who would have sent it. I don't even want to throw the brown paper away as it has such lovely stickers on!

I’ve just completed my 2024 reading challenge on Goodreads. 20 books read this year. I set it 1 book higher than the number I read the previous year. What I didn’t consider this year is I’m on maternity leave so obviously have plenty more reading time! Final book of the challenge was The Bee Sting.. 4 stars.

Little book rant: when books don't have a proper divide/ new page for a new chapter. It hurts my very soul when the chapters are just separated by a couple of lines of space or an asterisk. I need chapters to be on a new page.

Yesterday I was reading a book on my Kindle that is just a massive book of paragraphs with no chapter divides. And today I've started a paperback where ok, the new chapters are actually on a new page and start a third of the way down, but has no chapter titles, numbers, or symbols or quotes or anything. It just looks strange and makes me 'tut'

Give me a new page and at least a number, a title, a drawing, a symbol or quote or something.

I’m never disappointed after a visit to my favourite charity book shop. These were 50p each!

I'm reading Katherine Center's The Rom-commers, which is pleasantly ridiculous like the other books I've read of hers. I was ticking along nicely, and then this:

Does... does she mean "voila"? 😭

Brag away … I’m not even 576 seconds since I last bought a book. 😮

A bit of a fortuitous trip to Waterstones yesterday. I picked up Hello Beautiful, Romantic Comedy and Giovanni's Room. At the till, the sales assistant said hang on a minute before you pay. Popped out the back and came back with a free tote bag (Penguin classics written on one side and a quote from JB on the other) as they're marking the 100th year since James Baldwin was born, you get a free tote! What a result! And the tote is a really decent size and made of hard wearing material. 🥰

Going back to the other thread but reading should be enjoyable. I know I make jokes about Freida and Coho but its generally very light hearted. I dont mean it.

If youre not enjoying what youre reading find something that does spark joy, if thats a non fiction about WW2 or fan fic thats basically porn. I am all for it.

I only have 2 from my wishlist at 99p this month. Green Dot and Love Letters To A Serial Killer. I will be buying both I think.

Also noticed quite a few of the daily deals are 1.89/1.99
