I’ve been really bad at reading in June because I’ve been so busy with work! Today it is absolutely bucketing down so I’m curled up with the cat and my book on the sofa. I am starting When I Died For The First Time by Tim Booth. There is truly no way I will be able to be objective about this book because Tim Booth is one of my most favourite humans in the whole world. The band James are just WONDERFUL and he is a delight. I am a huge fan. I have seen them so many times and I just cry every single time.

I have been going to the library and I am bogged down with books. Ive got 2 left to read Romantic Comedy and The Savage Side. Im not feeling them right now so I think I will return them and check them out in the future should I want to.

I read Funny Story just after it came out (which was my newish ‘rule’ with anything new I buy..) but I’ve had Blue Sisters weeks and keep thinking I’ll read it next week then get distracted by something else. I did manage to read 5/6 of the women’s prize shortlist though so the distractions were good ones!

Thankyou for recommending none of this is true by Lisa Jewell. Although I read it on my kindle and didn’t listen to it I absolutely loved it! Couldn’t put it down! Forgot I was reading! Love it when I find books like that! Also has got me out of a reading slump, but still in my thriller era! Definitely not ready to go back to romance yet!
I’ve managed to read a book in a day on the Libby app, maybe I am an e-reader girl!
Finished The Reappearance of Rachel Price yesterday 
16 hrs of my life I won’t get back 
it was fine. Genuinely didn’t like any of the characters, it was so slow until about 80% through then sped up. 3.5
at best
Been listening to Weyward today doing the ironing and I’m really enjoying it so far
Feel a wee bit of a fraud as all my books so far this month are audio but I just don’t get a chance to sit and read

I’m the same - I’d totally forgotten most of the story too! Annoyingly I remembered that Alex was pretending to be Noah just before it happened so it didn’t shock me as much as the first time round. I’d also totally forgotten about Jack’s ending with his car being hacked - love a bit of payback!. I really enjoyed “playing along” too. I kept thinking who would I back if I was on the jury or in the general public.
I think I might do another reread of something from John Marrs’ back catalogue as I just love them all. Maybe What Lies Between Us as that was the first one I read of his back in 2021 and I’ve forgotten most of that one too.
@Katykatykaty I think I’ll do a reread too as I read a lot of his 2019/20 before he was properly on my radar as such a good author. I might read a couple off my TBR and then go for one of his.
Just in case anyone intend on buying a Fire etc, it is Prime Day on 16th/17th July. Amazon are hit and misss with what gets included for reductions, but you might want to hold off just in case there are good deals.
Usually their own brand electronics are included so Id say hang off too
Just finished The Woman at Hitlers table. Not sure really. Hard. Weird. For many reasons. Can't believe Hitler bought in a group of woman to taste his food incase of poison. Eqch day for each meal. It must have been paralysing.

Haha, I have this problem. As especially with our library I actually do feel a sense of responsibility to keep its numbers up, to keep the dam place open! Our council is always trying to shut it. The new funding year is end of April so they have just got a slog of new books in, which I have my eye on.

finished long island and, urgh, i would maybe have given it a solid four stars if it had not completely undermined everything that i loved about brooklyn. it was a brave way to go with the sequel, but it just made me so sad.
read maybe fifty pages of my next read, my dark romeo, which i picked up in the works because of its pretty cover and all i can say is:
it’s allegedly written by two authors but i’m assuming that those are fake names and it was fully constructed by ai because wtaf. will i continue reading it? of course.

I do worry that we will end up with crappy AI books soon. Nothing compares the the honed craft of a decently written book though. For example the emotional insight and research and clever clues weaved into JKR's (Galbraith) Strike series can never be replicated by a computer but I assume the book market will get flooded with rubbish and drown out the good stuff. Perhaps the YA genre will be most hit.
i feel like romance is the genre that would get hit the most - it’s already starting to get advertised by tropes alone (i’ve lost track of how many insta posts i see that just have grumpy v sunshine! he’s a hockey player! she’s a brunette! as their key selling points). it’s eventually going to be very easy to feed all those details into a programme and have it throw a “book” back out. i would argue that a lot of lazier romances are verging on that already.
