It’s so interesting how we like and dislike different things. I couldn’t stand Normal People and it’s one of the only books I’ve ever given up reading. I had zero interest in the characters or plot and just didn’t want to read on.
Glad you’re enjoying it though.
I agree, I read it but won’t lie gave it 2* had potential but sally rooney ruined them!

I liked The Thursday Murder Club because it was an easy, fun read that you don't have to engage fully with. I was disappointed with Normal People, it didn't really seem like there was an actual story there - I couldn't relate to anything and felt like Rooney's writing style was really flat and wooden. But we all like different things!

I have about 80 pages left of What She Knew. I can barely put it down, a real nuisance that my children keep needing me. I have been gripped from the very start to want to find out what has happened. I looked the author up and found out this was her debut novel. I hope there isn't about to be a horrible ending that makes me want to launch the book out the window.

I’m reading A Keeper by Graham Norton. It’s great but it’s very dark. I dunno, I was kind of expecting a light read but it’s quite disturbing.

Are his other books similar does anyone know ?

Regarding Normal People, I thought it was meh. I much preferred her other book, Conversations with Friends. However, some of the characters were quite similar between the two books and I worry that this will become a theme with Rooney's books. It'll be interesting to see what her new one is like.

Finished it. I have a lot to say too but will wait because I know a few others are reading it. I have already ordered the second DI Jim Clemo book.

Just finished reading Normal People and the ending disappointed me a bit if I'm honest but I did enjoy the book as whole.

Next book to read is A Thousand Moons by Sebastian Barry

Has anyone read The Handmaids Tale?

I’ve not read the book nor watched the series. Normally would rather read the book first but thought I’d double check here first incase you guys thought the book isn’t worth it.

The book and it’s sequel are great but a tough read.

I really enjoyed the book, I think I read it really quickly if I remember rightly because I couldn’t put it down. I saw one episode of the show and haven’t watched anymore as it was so brutal.

I've read it (not the sequel yet). I enjoyed it but if I'm honest I think some of her other books like Alias Grace and The Blind Assassin are a lot better.

I really liked it. I haven't seen the programme. It is such a culturally important book (if you see what I mean) I think you won't regret reading it.
I also really liked Cat's Eye by her. About girls and bullying - sounds like it would a hard read but it really isn't. That stayed with me longer than THT tbh.

Thank you for all the replies about Handmaids Tale ❤
My ‘to watch’ list is a lot shorter than my ‘to read’ list but it’s going to have to stay that way. Will read the book first :)

I read and loved The Handmaid’s Tale but didn’t enjoy the sequel (which was a shame as I was really looking forward to it!). The first one is definitely worth a read.

I stayed up so much later than I should have last night finishing The Other Passenger. Exhausted this morning.

Does mean I can start What She Knew today. Excited.
