I know. Old Sins was published in 1989! I remember the poster adverts for it on the walls on the London Underground when I used to commute into town! Feels like a lifetime ago. She wrote proper blockbusters with style. She passed away in 2018.Hope you got it sorted @nbt

I feel like we need a mini coffee morning book chat with everyone who’s read it to break it down
there are some things I’d want to do differently like always when I finish a book. But overall I was very impressed by it, it’s been in my library a while now just waiting to be picked ive just realised I read a lot of these in secondary school so that was the 90’sI know. You know those dark corners of the Internet that encourage each other to engage in self harm… we’re like that, but obviously less of a destructive impact on life, health, relationships etc etc

quick rundown so far so don’t read if you’re not interested in potential spoilers but I’ve left a lot out….
Mother loses custody of her baby to her husband when she’s sent into treatment for PNS.
he ducks off to france with the child and tells her she had been abused by her mum and that’s why he got custody,
For various reasons she then contacts her mum (who’s now remarried) when she’s 17 and has spent her life in boarding school, hardly seeing the dad, and she then comes to live with them.
The story flashes between when this happened (her leaving boarding school and moving in with them) and the trial of the husband (who was accused of sexual harassment, by her) for her murder
but all isn't how it seems.
I’m hooked again.

Fifty Fifty was my “treat yo’self” book at a whopping £4.99 haha. My limit is usually £1.99. But I’m liking that series too.
I finished Faking It by Portia Macintosh last night and it was a breath of fresh air after all the drivel I've read recently. Wasn't sure in the beginning but it was really entertaining

Has anyone read Underland by Robert Mcfarlane? Someone gifted it to me and all of the reviews say it's amazing, but I feel bad because I'm finding it so boring! The front cover is gorgeous though so at least it looks good on my shelf

Ive read some good non fiction books this year.
I loved Educated by Tara Westover, She Said by Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey.
County Lines by Jason Farrell was also quite good.

Ooh exciting! I got The Seven Husbands today from Waterstones. I can't actually remember the last time I purchased a new paper copy of a book (usually charity shop) so am looking forward to it very much.
I enjoyed Malibu overall, but looking back on it a week later, and in comparison to 7 husbands, I wish she’d put more effort into developing a few characters with a stronger story line than giving us what she did, which was far too many little irrelevant characters to fill the pages
it’s only a week since I read it and it’s already forgotten I’m excited to see what you think!
Only on the second husband of Evelyn Hugo's seven husbands and so far I love it.
Really pacily written and so interesting about the Hollywood studio system.
I'm reading it so quickly I know I'm going to regret finishing it.
Thoroughly recommend, it has got me back into reading and not wanting to put a book down.

Ive always been so negative about this book and looking back I think it was me more than the book
