magnolia parks is annoying to read, there are so many grammatical errors as well. sorry to say daisy’s chapters are more annoying than magnolia’s, there are constant footnotes that half of the time are totally pointless. sometimes I question why I enjoy them so much 
I’ve had other peoples clothes on my kindle for so long and always been so intrigued by it but never got round to reading it, I may need to push it up the tbr. I think it’s on my 24 for 24!

I’m not sure what I was expecting from TLMP but it totally didn’t fit my expectations. In the middle part I felt so angry and incredibly sad for Daphne and was desperate to find out if she managed to escape him. I do think the line at the end of her section with Jackson saying something about them having a baby boy lended itself more to him taking Amber hostage and stealing the baby for Daphne and him to have rather than him ditching Daphne to be with Amber. It may have even made it more thrilling to go down that route and then have Daphne and Amber join forces to get their revenge on Jackson.
I’ve read penance already but will give magpie a go. And i was the same with other people’s clothes!! I just picked it up because i thought the cover was cool but after reading the blurb it sounded exactly up my street and I loved it

We are on holiday this week and it’s somewhere we’ve been before and on the drive over yesterday I remember from last time seeing an amazing book swap in a village, it was loads of shelves in the back of a brick bus stop. But I’m so annoyed I didn’t remember before we left home as I have no books with me to swap!! I’ve nearly finished my library book but I don’t think they would appreciate me swapping it out.Gave two read books to my friend the other day, picked up three more today 🫣

I was put off them for thickness but purchased them both on kindle for 99p each. Im thinking of using my audible credits on them instead so its good to hear a good audio review!
Aah I’m sure it’d be okay to take a couple. You could even try and read one while you’re away and then put it back? People suggest passing on to others or taking to charity shops at some points for ours, as it gets full very quickly despite it being a decent size, then it just looks messy rather than nicely presented. I say go for it
I started reading the ACOTAR series, it was my first time reading fantasy & I was fully influenced to read it by booktok, but i DNF 1/4 way through A court of mist & fury (second book) I just felt SO bred reading it. I needed to read something fast paced straight after to avoid going it a reading slump so i read Then she was gone by Lisa Jwell & loved it but now I'm sure whether or not to give ACOTAR another go or I'd be just reading for the sake?
Also please no hate as i know most people LOVE ACOTAR I just don't think the fantasy Genre is for me

I bought them in a £2.99 sale on audible. So may ve worth waiting as they often repeat. I got binding 13 and keeping 13.

If you get halfway and still dont like it then its safe to say its probably not for you

also don’t apologise! or never apologise for not liking a book! i recommended them to a friend of mine who loves fantasy (but like hardcore political fantasy so in hindsight maybe a mistake) and she texted me halfway through the first one saying how could you do this to me and we never spoke of them again so i think you’re good
(she sent me a similar text after i recommended a little life to be fair)

Absolutely. If I get to page 60 and I am not anchoring to pick it up again I give up. Therr are too many other good books out there to read to waste time ploughing through something you aren't enjoying 'just because'.I'm sure I've spouted my little motto here before, but life is too short to read books you don't enjoy! Ive just realised this. I thought I had Binding and Keeping but turns out no I dont. I have part one and two 
thought 10 hours at 1.5 speed was good going for a book 700 pages long.Im an idiot.
Really been inspired by a friend to get back into reading - I'm sure many people in this thread will recognise being a total book fiend when they were younger but getting out of the habit thanks to our phones etc! I'd be lucky to read even a few books a year but determined to change that. I'm on Goodreads now which really motivates me to read more and is great for finding recommendations. Plus seeing my friend zip through books on there pushes me to up my reading game I've set my 2024 reading challenge to 50 books and have finished 7 so far (although 4 of those I started last year so not sure if they count? Ha)
Currently reading Before the Coffee Gets Cold and can already tell it's not going to be one of my faves unfortunately! I find the writing quite clunky and there's a lot of repetition although that might be down to the translation? We'll see!

Im going to go against the grain. Im someone who sticks books out even if Im not feeling it initially.
Some of my most touching and favourite reads have not been instant loves for me and took until much further into the book to click for me.
Bellies, Shuggie Bain, Beartown, Weyward all took me a while to get into.
I think it also depends on the genre of the book, I imagine if you predominantly read Thrillers / Police Procedurals then you do need that instant hook to be engaged. Whereas with literary fiction the story tends to swell and embed into you the more you read.
No right or wrong obviously but just another POV from someone who isnt a DNF-er.
That being said I have given up with a few books over the years when I just feel dread about picking them up.

As I tend to veer towards thrillers, I definitely need a book to hook me in quickly - I hate slow burners, life is too short for them! I tend to give a book to about 20/25% and if I just don’t care about the characters or the plot then I’ll move on. I always think if the author hasn’t given me something to care about when I’m a quarter of the way through the book then they probably aren’t going to. I’m all for setting the scene but it shouldn’t take 25% plus to do it.
One of my pet peeves with books though is ones that hook you in immediately with an amazing prologue or first few chapters that you just can’t put down but then the author can’t sustain that level of grab and the book turns boring. So frustrating!
