Have you tried Booktopia? They were my go to online store before I moved overseas! Honestly Waterstones prices here in the UK seem decent to me even with the exchange rate because I am used to like...Dymocks pricing
Everyone probably knows but World Of Books is great for second hand cheap titles, most of which are like new. Also great for rare and out of print books, free delivery too.
World of Books is dangerous. I bought so many books on there because they were cheap!

It’s not a book I would read again, but I did find it gripping. It felt like a tough read and I didn’t see the twists and turns coming. I would recommend it, but for me it was a bit heavy
Ive said it a few times before but Girl A I think is loosely based on the Turpin family. A hideous story tbh 
Finally finished Hamnet! It was my second attempt to read it and it did take me a couple of attempts to get back into it. Very wordy and slow paced. It felt like a Sunday afternoon book. Agnes and her 'other worldly' trope felt a bit dragged out at times. But I get the beauty of the writing style and why it was up for so many awards.
Random number generator chose no. 74 on my Kindle which is Did You See Melody? Have no recollection of downloading it or why but the blurb reads like a fast paced thriller which is what I need after the plodding of Hamnet!

i felt exactly the same way about hamnet, even as a huge maggie o’farrell fan! i love her writing usually but something about it just never really stuck for me and i couldn’t connect with it (even with the sad subject matter).
I’ve just seen they’re making Hamnet into a film. I got about 10% the way in and got bored so gave up but I might try it again at some point.
I’ve finally finished The Troop by Nick Cutter! Feel like I’ve been on for months when it’s actually only been a week. I enjoyed it but probably skim read the last 25% or so. It could easily have dropped 100 pages and I wouldn’t have noticed. The description is fantastic and made me feel sick at times but it just dragged on and on. Sort of reminded me of IT by Stephen King in that the premise is excellent, the descriptions are fantastic but it just goes on for way too long and by the time the action really kicks off you’re past caring.
I also finished listening to The Chain today and gave it a 4/5 - really enjoyed it. Such a clever idea and really got me think of what I would do if it happened to me.
Once I’d finished The Chain I started on The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes to follow on from my Hunger Games reread (via audio books on Borrowbox) and I’m loving it even more the second time round. I really enjoyed it when I first read but even more now.
For my next actual reading book (via Kindle) I’ve gone for Project Hail Mary after seeing someone mention it here today (or maybe yesterday?). I bought it a while back but forgot about it but it fits in as the P of my A-Z challenge. Only 8 letters to go (D, J, K, L, U, X, Y, Z)!

Picked up some Curtis Sittenfeld books and The House in the Cerulean Sea courtesy of your recs! Excited to start them once I’ve finished Cleopatra and Frankenstein (which I’m also loving as much as everyone else!).
Currently reading ‘What lies Between Us’, recommended on here. I like it so far but an incredibly impatient when reading a mystery
