I'm thinking Adam's name was on the lease (his apartment), and BLAB was renting from him. So they move out, forcing him to break his lease and pay fees.
To anyone who's a reasonable caring friend of his (as Daphne appears to be), they cost him money in terms of forcing him to pay half of any lease breaking fees that he wouldn't have had to pay otherwise.To another person seeking to sway opinion, BLAB and Woo split payment of all fees so "it was all fair and squared away."
Regardless, doesn't take away the fact that BLAB are still aholes.
If it wasn't cease and desist letters, maybe it was some other type of threat. Adam's statement definitely felt like he had a proverbial gun to his head. They lived with him for a year. Adam's a pretty private guy. I'm sure they threatened to expose something, even if it's not necessary bad stuff...but just private. They had first hand access to his entire existence.

Yeah, it is nice to see the sub count drop, BLAB are the worst. However, a part of me still wishes the subs had stayed at 100,000 and kept climbing triggering an audit by YouTube. Then we would've gotten genuine tears of anguish from KT and Spencer after the channel became demonetized or shut down.BLAB is still loosing subs though so that’s fun

I've given it a lot of thought the past 24 hours and this to me is the only thing that makes any sense to me.
That Adam would address all of this now, go so far as to mention them by name, so many months on, after it's all died down to the point where nobody really talks about it anymore? It smells of something they threatened him with, and I don't mean from a legal standpoint of lawyers ect.
They are at rock bottom right now, nothing to lose, going scorched earth is not an issue for them, they will keep their stans no matter what.
I wouldn't be surprised at all if Adam was threatened with something they have on him.
I'm not an Adam Stan by any means or making excuses for him... but this was not the Adam that most of us know.

the only possibility i would believe in regards to BLAB influencing adam to put out that statement is if they straight up blackmailed him and threatened to release all the dirt they have on him if he didn't make a statement "clearing" them of any wrongdoing with the apartment
