So angry this bloody country is continually highlighting the fact that if you are poor your life means less and that’s never been more apparent than now soo soo bloody furious!

He didn't even do proper laps of his garden, he was just walking back and forth in a line. Now, I'm not suggesting anyone digs him up, straps his corpse into an electric wheelchair and forces it to complete the promised 100 laps, but it would go some way to restore people's faith in the whole thing.

Thank God forCaptain Tom snd his family for giving us something else to whinge about! The Great British public love a good whine, especially it is involves someone being put on a perch as we especially love knocking people off them. Good luck to Tom and his family. He helped to raise the moral of the country last summer and I am sure brought a smile to the faces of many. If he gets a free trip ( the plane was going there anyway and probably had plenty of spare capacity) and his family around him at the end, why should we be so churlish as to knock it? Does it affect us and our everyday lives? Not in the least unless you get off on being mean spirited and uncharitable. I hope the dear old boy recovers, but if he doesn’t, his spirit will live on in many who took him to their hearts. He became the nation’s favourite Grandad, why is that such a bad thing? Shall we now start slagging off Dame Vera Lynn for being the nation’s sweetheart?
Bless him, even if he has been exploited he has raised a ton of money for the rest of us to benefit from and has had an end of life experience at 100 that only the coldest hearted people could begrudge him. Sorry if this offends some of you.
I hope he recovers too and yes he raised a lot of money, however I read a post in the Coronavirus thread last night that moved me to tears by a lady called GabCat.
Her husband died three months ago and the hospital wouldn’t let her be by his bedside instead her seven year old son had to go into the room on his own to hold his Dad’s hand one last time.
Captain Tom has his family around him right now but why this preferential treatment when thousands and thousands of other people have not been afforded that comfort.
We all know someone this has happened to and they are torn apart in grief not being able to say goodbye or see them one last time.

Fetishisation of WWII and anyone who fought in it, is my view. The British have been doing it for decades, and Capt. Tom fitted right into that mould and at a time when the media and politicians wanted to bring people together to capture that British fighting spirit (🫣🫣). Same with the pot banging on the doorstep too - such a fucking cringe thing to do. I couldn’t believe how people collectively got totally into all of that.

Tom Moore was in the right place at the right time but it should have been a fleeting moment and it wasn’t. His daughter’s greed and ego meant the whole thing was rinsed dry and then some.
Agreed. One of the most disturbing things about the pandemic was the fact that deep down, millions of Brits lapped up every minute of it. As late as the summer of 2021, middle aged men would snarl at me for not wearing a mask in a supermarket like they wanted to rip my dick off. It was absolutely bizarre watching people who weigh twenty stone joining in the pretense that a shoddily produced mask would save their lives. All that shit about stuff upper lip and keep calm and carry on is a myth. We're actually a nation of pathetic busybodies and crybabies

Vile trolls had earlier taken to social media to slam Captain Tom and his family for jetting to Barbados in December.

Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield hit back at the nasty comments and sent Captain Tom their well-wishes on This Morning.

Discussing the story with Matthew Wright and Julia Hartley-Brewer, Julia said: "I was stunned to see some trolls on social media saying: 'Oh, if he didn't go to Barbados!'

"He went on a lovely, warm, perfectly legal Caribbean holiday with his family, and I think that's absolutely wonderful he did that and nothing whatsoever to do with his ailments now.

"I do think the trolls need to take a day off."

Phil added: "A life off! Just sod off!"

Holly added: "The timings don't work out with this so it's totally irrelevant anyway!"

From The Sun
Phil and Holly need to shut their faces. Can’t stand them pair. They’d lick their own arseholes if they could.
Sad that the guy has passed away. Hope the family can sleep soundly at night...

800 fucking grand?
If Lord Sir Captain St Tom SPECIFICALLY wanted her to keep the money, why not SPECIFICALLY put it in his will? Or arrange with the publisher? Or add it to a contract?

I was at my friend’s husband’s wake and at her table. A couple came over and asked my friend what her man’s last words were. Completely straight faced she replied “I think I’ve just shit myself”. I told her she could maybe make something up for next time someone asked.

He’s lucky he was allowed into his garden to do his laps. My granny was basically locked in her care home room for most of last year.

My biggest concern, never mind the money, was exploiting a loved one. Especially after his death. I just think, if this was my Dad, I would certainly celebrate his charity efforts and share the moment of uniting a nation, but when he died I wouldn't be trying to monetise his legacy. And what legacy is it exactly? We are not talking about Elvis Presley's estate or the equivalent of a life's worth of culturally important material.

I’ve said it before and I shall say it again, Captain Tom was such a “gentleman” slating and blaming his first wife (who was not there to defend herself) because the failure of their marriage couldn’t be part his fault could it? Oh no, poor Tom had a sexless marriage and told the world and they all lapped it up. Gentleman my arse! 🙄

Very sad the man died, every death is sad ( my dad died at 56 with cancer) He did raise an amazing amount for the NHS. Inspirational for sure. I did turn off GMB this morning, Piers saying the criticism for taking Tom to Barbados is hurting the family.... I don't know how they ever thought, in a pandemic , that putting a 100 year old man on a plane was a good idea... I am not too happy about being labelled a troll for perhaps having an opinion that thinks maybe he was safer at home. My friends sister is in Australia, she has had a horrific still birth, her parents here in Ireland are desperate to be with her.
Even if there were flights, she has told her mum who has health issues to stay home and stay well and at the first safe opportunity they will all reunite and grieve.
Gmb , this morning (don't watch it) rightly criticising the influencers , cannot with a straight face say taking Tom abroad was a good idea....
Exactly this!!! But you say this out loud and you’re “trolling” or being heartless and that’s not the case!
So sorry to hear about your friends sister, how utterly heartbreaking and I hope she gets to see her family as soon as possible xx❤

I'm confused that people keep saying he didn't catch it from the holiday and didn't spread it to anyone. No one knows that stuff, it's not conclusive either way.

If someone was 90 and raised £50 from a raffle is that good enough to give them a free pass to go on holiday with their family during a pandemic when the advice was clearly only essential travel? It's a worrying precedent. You can't decide to let people you like flout the rules and only berate those that you dislike. That's madness.

I've said it before and I'll said it again - why do her kids have middle-aged faces? Is it just a Tory thing?
