The moment we've waited so long for. We should have a toast to her finally admitting that she's dodgy, which most of us knew was the case even whilst her dad was alive.
And she’s saying it’s what her Dad wanted - when he’s not alive to confirm or deny these things. Did his other daughter get some money or did Tom only wish for Hannah and her family to pocket some?

You are right to be cynical about the cuddly old man stuff. Captain Tom had managed to live a really long time. Good for him, but he was just a regular person with all the good and bad aspects we all have. I haven’t read his moneyspinners books, apologies to his grifting hangers-on loving family for the lack of charitable donations contributions to their private spa, but from a brief summary in the Daily Mail (ahem), it’s clear that Tom’s parents and maybe Tom himself were hopeless with money (classic middle-class over-extended types who always have cash coming in but always manage to spend it all and more, I imagine) and his personal life was frankly a little messy.

Now that isn’t to say I judge Tom, but he was really just a regular man with good and bad qualities who lived a very long time and did some successful fundraising right at the end of his time on the planet, and that’s it. Someone who has lived that long will have done plenty that’s bad as well as good and doesn’t deserve to be revered over anyone else just for making a hundred years old.

Her proposed salary was ridiculous. The charity was clearly one that would eventually run out of donations and was likely to be wound down within a few years of being set up, not a major continuing enterprise like Oxfam or similar and the sum she proposed to pay herself was insane.
Agreed but her whole attitude was insane. Remember her waving to the crowds at Wimbledon and blowing kisses? She really did think it was all about her and from what I have seen about her Instagram I think she still thinks this

If she were working class she'd be the type to run the local WMC for 6 months and do a runner with the takings. She just commits the fraud on a grander scale with the smoke and mirrors of her dead Father.

Sky News reports Captain Tom died - nearly all comments defending his holiday

Sky News reports Rita Ora travels to Australia for work - all comments slagging her off saying how she shouldn't be allowed to travel if they're not

My brother and I were discussing this and had the idea of getting our almost 98 year old gran to do a duet with Stormzy is 72 years old, to help out care home residents. Think we’re on to a winner.

She can walk at a fair pace with her walking frame, we could enter her into charity old folk racing. Willy Hills could run the gambling.

I expect plenty of the patients I have cared for in their final hours/days had bucket lists that they never got the opportunity to fulfil either. I don’t care if it was his bucket list, life long dream or what, it leaves a sour taste in my mouth when I’ve held the hands of patients as they’ve died because their relatives haven’t made it in time, because they’re hundreds of miles away and don’t get a private flight gifted to them.

There are so many unsung heroes of the pandemic who really worked to try and make a difference in their communities, without craving recognition for their efforts. Captain Tom raised, a not insignificant sum, for NHS charities, by walking around the garden! Hannah has craved attention and financial gain ever since... Greedy Grifter and fraudster that she is! So many did so much to help and want nothing in return. Hannah however is so over intitled with her 'its what he would have wanted' he would have wanted us to have the money from the book (even though the forward contradicts), he would have wanted me to to earn top dollar from working for the foundation, he would have wanted us to build an ugly building in the garden to house a spar pool that we say is for the community - but we won't let the cross the threshold to enter (captain tom would have wanted it, even though an elderly nieghbour cries at the loss of her view).

They were apparently in and out of the hospital when he was dying of COVID and had a huge funeral, as he would have wanted! My husband's granny who was 103 died of a stroke, we hadn't been able to visit at all due to restrictions, we were not able to attend her funeral due to restrictions, I had to take my lunch break at 10am to watch her funeral on livestream! So many people couldn't see their dying family members before they passed - COVID or not, let alone attend funerals. People could mostly not travel abroad when they made the 'bucket list' trip to Barbados!

She may get to keep her ugly spa, but hopefully she will rot in hell!
The funeral in attendees was small....but it was televised, with a flypast...and some army folk outside.... was a bloody circus round there! They closed the main bypass for his funeral procession and had a helicopter filming that bit 🙃.

I can't even talk about the hospital visiting bit. I complained to PALS at the time, they did not care. Basically gave a "oh but we've had loads of people saying thanks to us for his care" yeah but did they know the truth/have dying relatives in the next ward they couldn't see? Doubt it. They just swanned in and out, full of their own self importance/don't you know who we are vibes. That was a turning point for me & many other local folk! It's taken time, but the tide has turned and hopefully everyone will finally realise what they are now

Possibly controversial, but it's so harmful this rife agism.

If you even say that not every single pensioner is a salt of the earth you get rounded on by the same people that seemingly are quite happy to call all youngsters lazy workshy snowflakes.

Dare I say; snowflake-ism isn't limited to the youth.

This is the type of old lady I aspire to be. 😁😍
We couldn’t get hold of her the other day, called the manager of the flats where she lives, turns out she’d gone to the pub with a group of other people who lived there (despite denying any knowledge of this) she had to come clean when a picture of her appeared on their FB page with a pint in front of her 🙄

Perhaps that’s all that Captain Tom wanted, to escape to the pub away from Hannah!

After all this I’m glad that the massive amount he raised walking didn’t go through their hands and went to the actual NHS charities directly. Must have really annoyed her she couldn’t skim off that.
I don’t know if he was a particularly nice person, (the Knighthood was ridiculous but they are saying Gavin Williamson might get one so they aren’t worth anything now). Regardless of his character, coercive control of an elderly person is wrong.
I think people sometimes assume if someone is a war veteran or is old, then they're a nice person... when that's not necessarily the case.
I don't know if Tom was a nice man or not, just saying people's attitudes to the elderly can be patronising, we'll all be old someday and not everyone is perfect and some people are far from it.

So pleased to find this page, I stumbled on it after pressing a Random button on the Mrs Hinch page. I haven’t been able to vent my feelings about this circus elsewhere. It’s sad that an old soldier has died but this is all out of proportion. A statue outside the Houses of Parliament? They are acting as if he donated 39 million. He didn’t raise 39 million for the NHS, he got people In the UK to pay out! All this faux grief is getting g out of hand.

Hannah, "I know my father (the grandfather of the World) would have wanted the money to go in my company. I also know he would not want his foundation to be investigated".

If Barbados was on his bucket list, why didn’t he just pay to go years ago? It’s not like him or his family didn’t have the cash.
He had 99 pandemic free years to live his dream too. It's maybe just a load of bullshit?

He’s 100, it’s not like he hasn’t had the time to go to Barbados 🙄 so they choose to go in a world wide pandemic, bloody irresponsible
Never mind that we've been preached at for a year to stay at home to protect people like him. His choice or not, it makes a mockery of what we've been sacrificing

I can just imagine the GMB and This Morning dedications to him tomorrow 🤦🏻‍♀️

Imagine if Katie Price decided to take Harvey on holiday over Christmas and he got ill with covid .... she would be ripped to shreds by the press and people on social media.
What annoys me is the use of the world troll being thrown about if anyone dares bring up he and his family was in Barbados.

ridiculous

That bit on This Morning was ridiculous, but Nicola they had on made a really good point. They showed Piers Morgan’s little rant about trolling this morning (where he’d conveniently lumped Captain Tom in with Marcus Rashford), and Nicola pointed out that Piers is a hypocrite because he spent a long time harassing and trolling celebrities himself, writing story after story and vile headlines about them.

Nice to have someone seeing through the bullshit!

People like this always claim “trolling” and “death threats.” In reality, like everyone on social media, they’ve had a couple of dodgy messages from some loser in a basement, but unlike most people on social media, they’ve also received messages from well-minded people suggesting they should be held accountable for their immoral or ill-judged actions. The latter they consider “trolling” too, of course.
Influencers say it about tattle all the time and they're making it up. When people have outright lie or cherry pick 0.001% of comments to totally misrepresent the situation then they've clearly lost the argument.
