I just think that Ruby saying to her followers that it's fine to never be interested in anyone is such a weird thing to say.
I'm sorry, but I quite strongly disagree. We don't know anything about Ruby's sexual orientation, and it's very possible she's asexual or aromantic, or both. If that's the case, it is not at all "weird" for her not to be interested in dating anyone...ever.

It's not "weird" for a gay person to never date someone of the opposite sex. I don't think any of us would ever dream of saying that a gay person should at least "try" dating someone of the opposite sex for "fun" or "experience." Therefore, we shouldn't say it about someone who might be asexual. It's an outdated way of looking at the spectrum of human sexuality...which most certainly includes people who have little to no interest in sex at all, and who are neither "naive" nor "egotistical" nor "weird" for being that way.

the weird thing i’ve noticed about ruby is that she consistently applies her own thinking to society as a whole and it says a whole lot about her as a person. when she’s talking about the shawshank redemption and the diaries of a prisoner, she says “we tend not to think about prisoners” - who is ‘we’? prison outreach and abolitionists play a huge role in the current conversation. it’s the same for when she talks about the holocaust - just because you don’t care or think about it, doesn’t mean everyone else is the same.

Tattlers, I have been looking for clues in her video from today, and I think I have some news... When she does "some bits for work" (LOL) there is a card on the table. I can't make out everything but I'm pretty sure that there is something about "the fabulous news" what looks like "Jesus College" and "So thrilled for you !"

Sherlock hang up your coat, there’s a new guy in town… you’re good! I wonder why she’s holding off on bragging sharing the good news

I've literally watched 10 seconds of this video and the before and after are identical from a style perspective.

She literally has zero idea what the "aesthetics" she latches onto are. Cottagecore, dark academia, light academia, half-caf non-fat mochademia with extra foam and added sprinkles, Victorian - it's all interchangeable in her mind.

"I never made use of the double bed!"

So...you never even roll around in your sleep? Or just starfish out? You just sleep like Dracula, awkwardly locked in a tight, fixed position until it's time to arise and leech off the lifeblood of charities and impressionable kids?

Dracula_(House_of_Frankenstein).jpg

All those books she either hasn't read or never will. I can't foresee Ruby reading 'Frat Girl' or 'The Death Cure'. Donate the books you'll clearly never read to your local library, for god's sake! Don't just use them as props.

"I have a lot of books and want to put them on display!" Note how she didn't say "I want my favourite books easily available with space to have the ones I'm desperate to read next, right at my fingertips." Just 'books on display', regardless of what they are or if she'll ever read them.

"I'm so happy I'll have a smaller bed that's easier to clean underneath of!" Don't lie. We've seen how you 'make the bed'. You just drop the sheet on the mattress and hope it'll magically fit and adjust itself, and then don't change the sheets for months. There's absolutely zero chance you ever clean under the bed, regardless of how easy it is.

"My double bed was impossible to clean without disassembling it!" Umm, no? You clearly just need to lift the mattress off and you have quite free access to clean under there.

Almost every hoover comes with a nozzle attachment for this purpose. Run a hoover between the slats and that dust would've never been an issue. Reach an arm through and you can dust and polish, too. And you should've been flipping your mattress regularly, anyway. You're just a disgusting hoarder of filth and germs with an aversion to cleaning, don't make daft excuses.

Oh, god, this "cleaning" section is repulsive. Why would you show any of this?! Even her jumper is covered in dust. No dust mask, no gloves, not even socks. It makes my skin crawl. And now rewatch that recent video where she talks about making her bed in the morning, in the context of this. She dumps all her pillows and duvet directly onto this floor every morning and then puts it right back on the bed when she "makes the bed." Guaranteed, she hasn't cleaned it since this video (and it's debatable how much "cleaning" she actually did then), and this was filmed months ago.

Why do we need an extended shot of you swilling a drink around your mouth, Ruby? The answer is: We don't.

I'm out, I've hit my limit with this video for one day.

That 'About the Author' section is so self-aggrandising. "If prizes were given, it is said that her trophy cabinet would be full" = "I'd be the best at everything I attempted, if I could be bothered".

End of what year, precisely? Oh let me guess, she’s talking about the academic year at her old school, because god forbid she move on to defining time in terms of calendar years or even university academic years 🙄

Did you have to mention that? That has to be borderline bullying 😉

It’s fine if you’re not interested enough in the book to pick it up or quickly Google it, but if that’s the case then why post it? We know the answer: her interest lies in the ‘aesthetic’ of book covers and in appearing to be a ‘bookworm’, not actually in the content of books — unless, of course, they are about eating disorders 🙄
Nooo, you don't understand - she's absolutely going to "read" these books. But since all she does is read the back cover to count them as "read", she doesn't want to rush through that entire paragraph while standing in a book shop. She wants to really savour the experience.

In fact, I've managed to find her Christmas book reading to-do list hidden in the background of one of her videos:

  1. Visit Waterstones on at least six more occasions to touch the book you want to pretend to read (and every other book in the shop).
  2. Take photographs of yourself browsing books - make sure you're always reaching for the top shelf to make it seem like you're a tiny child browsing Waterstones with mummy, but you've wandered off on your own and are struggling to reach a book you have no interest in. This shows how independent you are. (See below.)
  3. reachforthestars.jpg
  4. Upload photos to Instagram (Make sure to mention Waterstones by name in post!)
  5. Hope nobody noticed that new red Kanken bag in your latest Insta post after claiming in your latest video that you only own two green ones, and that the Kanken is so sustainable that you'll only ever need to buy one.
  6. Also hope that nobody notices that you only own a red one for very superficial, aesthetic purposes (like colour-coordinating it with your gloves during performative, unnecessary trips to Waterstones.)
  7. Convince Blakeney to buy the book you want to pretend to read.
  8. Wait until Blakeney's read it.
  9. Pressure Blakeney into writing a series of Notion notes about it.
  10. Read all of Blakeney's notes.
  11. Borrow the book from Blakeney.
  12. Light enough wonky candles to burn down a Christmas village.
  13. Brew some mulled wine tea that's been sat in the back of the cupboard since October 2019.
  14. Get comfy on the dusty sofa.
  15. Complain about how cold it is.
  16. Mention how much you love October.
  17. Log into Goodreads and mark book as 'To Read'.
  18. Gaze adoringly at the cover for 45 minutes.
  19. Post an Instagram story of the cover with generic Christmas songs overlaid.
  20. Post another story with the cover being opened to reveal the first page, to give the visual suggestion that this book's contents are about to be delved into.
  21. Slowly, but absent-mindedly read each word of the first sentence of the back cover blurb.
  22. Make a note in planner to look up what most of the words mean.
  23. Get bored.
  24. Write letter to Santa asking for Waterstones sponsorship because you've been a very good girl and only stole from two charities so far this year.
  25. Take a tea break.
  26. Back up planner note into daily to-do list.
  27. Back up daily to-do list into weekly master to-do list.
  28. Transcribe planner notes into Notion.
  29. Update reading progress for the book on Goodreads to 75% complete.
  30. Take another tea break.
  31. Light more candles.
  32. Read second sentence of back cover blurb.
  33. Get bored.
  34. Get distracted.
  35. Mark book as 100% completely read on Goodreads.
  36. Rate it 5/5.
  37. Tick book as 'read' in several to-do lists.

I actually feel like ruby is enjoying leaving her diss to the last minute - it’s so chaotic academia. Deep conflicted scholar goes in search of elusive letters and stays up by candlelight, tormented by what they say. Drinks copious amounts of tea to ward off the sleep deprivation the late nights bring. Ends up having a stroke of genius a week before the deadline and writes a groundbreaking dissertation which instantly changes the world

she tries so hard with her smart prodigy persona, but it doesn’t fit ruby at all:ROFLMAO:

Maybe it's becuase I have a PhD thesis I have to write by the end of August and I am projecting, but the fact she has only 8 weeks to write her entire dissertation and she barely knows what she is doing is giving me severe second hand anxiety

It’s everything I want right now, truly. I despise her so much.
Thankyou! It's magnificent. Classic Ruby cringe.

The triumphant Tchaikovsky playing as she fails miserably at life.

"I have a lot of deadlines due next week, so I though this would be the most efficient way to use my time," she said, wasting time on planners instead of working.

She has a lot of deadlines due, but her planner includes such non-urgent bullshit as writing a book.

In a ten hour day, she's allocated only ten minutes total for food.

Dead leaves all over her desk for some reason.

She makes another of many attempts to burn down her house:

"Because I'm doing Na-No-Ree-Moh..." Ruby, "NaNoWriMo" is short for National Novel Writing Month. The "Wri" is pronounced exactly as it is in "Writing." It wouldn't even take a tiny sliver of common sense to figure that out if for some strange reason you were unsure.

Even in the briefest half-sentence glimpse we get of her novel, we see that she's fucked up the punctuation:

da.jpg

(That comma should be inside the quotation mark, Ruby.)

Crying over not being prepared enough to get the book for her module despite being made aware of it weeks/months in advance. How is it not a wake-up call for her to manage her time better and plan more efficiently when this keeps happening despite her wasting multiple hours a day on "planning"?

Yet more unsafe candle use:

U2.jpg

Creepy cutout photo of Renesmee Cullen on her windowsill for some reason.

m.jpg

For some reason she added "Stress about book" onto her timetable. So either she's saying she pre-planned her freakout, or since this is her 'Timetable for a Productive Study Day' that she's sharing with others, she's saying everyone should fuck up and stress about easily avoidable things like she did?

What a clown.
