with what?
I would sweat in that jumper. Even in winter.

Oversized jumper paired with culotte trousers (or "kyoooo-lots" in Rubyspeak), brown boots and a random oversized scrunchie on her wrist the same colour as her sleeves.

It's just a fashion disaster.

Speaking of Rubyspeak:

Ahh, yes, everyone's accent naturally changes from their normal accent to some improvisational jazz version of human speech filtered through the vocal stylings of fictional children throughout the day. I often ping-pong back and forth between sounding like Queen Elizabeth and Danny Dyer. It just happens, everyone does it.

No one message her with any ideas, I really need Lottie to have a best friend called Ronalda Weaslington.
I'm eagerly awaiting the shoddily-written plagiarism-fest that awaits in the almost non-existent chance she gets published.

Ronalda glared at Lottie with fire in her eyes, because she was very angry and so very, very jealous. Her eyes were like orbs, but fiery orbs - on account of the anger and the jealousy and the orbyness. The fire in her orb-like eyes was also like her hair, which was as red as fire.

"I can't believe you put your name into the Tri-Academia Tournament cup!" Ronalda shouted loudly at Lottie, her voice as crackly as fire - a crackly voice-fire that was as fiery as her eyes and also her hair. The Tri-Academia Tournament was called the Tri-Academia Tournament because you had to be three times as academic as the everyday student to compete. "You know that's only for Year 11s! Just because you're the smartest bookworm in the school and just because you're studying at a Masters level even though you're only in Year 7 doesn't mean you get to break the rules!"

Lottie trembled with trepidociousness and anxiousnessnosity, just like she always did when she was bullied for being too smart. Her hands shuddered so nervously that she almost dropped everything that she was holding. In one hand, she had a cup of Aviary and Alchemy tea, which she almost spilled all over the place. It was a herbal tea that tasted very herbally. In the other hand she had a copy of Baudelaire's Greatest Hits, by Baudelaire, which she had read many, many times before and first read when she was six months old. And in the other hand, she held a feather quill, which was much more sustainable than all the regular pens that the other students used, as she had reminded them many times per day.

Lottie wiped her sweaty brow with her hand. "But--I--d-d-didn't d-d-do it! It m-m-must've been s-s-s-omeone else!"

Many studies have shown that people stutter and sweat when they are nervous and Lottie was very nervous and that is why she was stuttering and sweating.

"Oh, sure! I bet it was!" Ronalda spat sarcastically - but she didn't literally spit, it was a metaphorical spitting (metaphors are when you use words metaphorically). "I bet Hermona Gronsher did it! Or maybe Nevis Shorttop! Or perhaps one of the other distinct and unique students at Hongfort's School for Gifted Children With No Magical Powers Whatsoever!"

Lottie choked back tears. She wasn't good at dealing with conflict. Like that time she was heinously accused of stealing the school fundraiser money, just because she happened to be in charge of it when it went missing, and just because she bought several extravagant hats shortly thereafter. It wasn't stealing, Lottie told herself. It was reinvesting!

And here she was again, being bullied just because a piece of paper with the letterhead of her own stationery company - Autumnal Gourd Productivity - showed up in the Tri-Academia Tournament cup with her name written on it in her own handwriting. That could have been anyone, Lottie thought.

Even before the bullying accusations, Lottie was already very upset since her best friend Cecilia Daggory had recently mysteriously vanished in one of the school's many hedge mazes.

Welp, I guess we put it on the bingo card for a reason 🙃

lol she really thinks she’s going to be traipsing around Oxford, writing letters and decorating them with stamps, using her portable cutlery and two pencil cases full of pens and pencils and mildliners and page flags and washi tapes 😂 This confirms it, she really is only doing this for the aesthetics and the bragging rights. She’s such a fucking dilettante 😂

Does anyone else wonder what Jade must think of this all? Didn’t they meet up recently? Surely she would have seen how scarily ill Ruby looks
Jade's too preoccupied with embracing and appreciating the ✨ CASUAL MAGIC✨ of morning porridge or the kaleidoscope of colours seen in a traffic light to notice something as trivial as Ruby wasting away to nothing.

Her letters are written as if she’s hoping they’ll one day be compiled and published as part of her collected works as a renowned author.

I wonder if 'Lottie Parton' will be Erimentha Parker 2.0

We need to come up with nicknames for Lottie Parton-

Already I've mixed up her name with Dolly Parton...
She’s incapable of going beyond herself when it comes to characters, she might as well have called the character Noobee Danger.

Maybe it’s the working class in me but I genuinely don’t understand some of these degrees like what job could you possibly get with 1550 literature 💀 To me, they just feel like time passers for the rich and uber privileged.
It’s not supposed to get you a job, it’s meant to be a first step towards a career in academia. Tbh, not every degree has to be career oriented and studying the humanities is important. But yeah obviously most people pursuing this are middle class because working class people choose more vocational degrees as they need to get on the career ladder and cant risk failing at academia the same way rich people can.

And what's wrong with being conservative. I've never tried smoking before but I know I won't enjoy the experience and its quite bad for my health
Tbh I think you should really go off tattle for a moment and try smoking a nice big old zoot, then we might get a bit more sense out of you

I did my masters in archival studies in Canada so my experience likely quite different from the UK but I got in with a BA in English and many people in my cohort came from different fields like poli sci, music, and tech. There are archivists and librarians for every field imaginable so departments are trying to keep up with new demands And modernize.
I hope she talks with someone that’s in the masters course before deciding if it’s right for her. There’s a surprising amount coding and database management that is involved not to mention learning how to get grants, dealing with allocating funding, working with people and leading seminars (sooo many group projects). You don’t get to sit in a dusty corner like a monk and pour over old manuscripts for eight hours a day unfortunately.

Room tour video is up! For someone claiming to be so dedicated to an aesthetic, Roobee is either half-assing it or genuinely has no idea. Remember how she mentioned how people were plotting their writing projects on post-its on their walls on Pinterest and she wanted to recreate that?

I don't know if this was posted before, but Exeter Uni posted a video of Blakeney talking about her career opportunities while at uni and it feels like just endless unintentional (?) Ruby shade.

She points out that school Head Girl positions are mostly empty positions that mean nothing, especially after high school, while Ruby has that highlighted as a major accomplishment on her CV. She also warns against wasting all of your free time at uni if you're lucky to have it when you could broaden your skillset and build your work experience - all shit Ruby avoided in favour of wasting all her time and having nothing to show for it.

She's also so much more composed, charismatic and coherent than Ruby has ever been on camera. Her responses are unscripted and there are no cuts during each answer and she can still speak eloquently and succinctly, whereas Ruby can't get through a single sentence without 78 cuts, mumbling utter babbling nonsense, mangling the English language or falling over her words constantly, even with cue cards.

She also got a short story published by Exeter Uni's Creative Writing Society literary journal and it's really good. Meanwhile Ruby desperately tried to get her poems and stories published anywhere she could and nobody wanted them. Oh dear.
