Weird Phobias

Holes! Small holes all gathered together 🤢🤢🤢 my sister used to cut crumpets in half across and I couldn’t look at her! Always thought I was a weirdo and they’d give me the creeps and send shivers down my spine, but there is an actual phobia of it called Trypophobia 🤮
I was exactly the same! For years I tried to explain it and no one understood, eventually stumbled across the term online and felt enlightened. Luckily I don’t encounter clusters of small holes on a regular basis so it doesn’t cause any bother

Not sure if this even counts as a fear but I can’t stand the feel of velvet/velour. I get literal chills and feel sick/sweaty if I touch it, especially if I rub it the ‘wrong’ way if that makes sense. I refuse to have it in the house.

Recently became scared of having surgery after having a dream the other week where they were trying to put me ‘under’ for surgery and it either wouldn’t work or I’d wake up just before they started slicing me up so they’d give me another ‘dose’ and the cycle would continue.I have no plans for any kind of surgery any time soon but now I’m scared of it when before I never really thought about it🤷🏻‍♀️

Whoever said "big things" - totally agree - and also large stretches of water. Felt very odd up a mountain in Lake District once when came across a very large - and still - tarn, with the blue sky reflecting in it so it looked like a massive hole in the mountain if that makes sense 😓

The film ET. Honestly, I’m terrified. No idea why, I even remember watching it quite happily as a young child. Even just thinking about it now and what it looks like and the noises it makes... my heart starts beating really fast and I feel like crying 😭😂 I try once a year to watch it and cure my fear but I always turn it off before it even comes on the screen 😅
I forgot about this One me too!!!! Everybody laughs at me. I was 5 when I watched it. It gave me nightmares for months and I’ve never watched it since

Oh my god me too with the velvet! Ever since I was a little girl I just cannot stand the thought of even touching it! Even when I read ‘rub it the wrong way’ I got shivers because I know exactly what you mean!😬😫

I’m so glad it’s not just me! I’ve only come across a handful of people who get it, everyone else including my own family looks at me like I’m a complete weirdo when I say I can’t cope with velvet😂🤢

Cows. Utterly terrified. Not so great when you live in the countryside. My kids actually mock me as they dont understand the fear but I can't cope. I also hate clowns and birds but its not on quite the same level.
One of my brothers is an avid fisherman, outdoors type and used to work with farmers. He’s terrified of cows.
As he says, they can sneak up on you easily and you don’t know what they are thinking. He’s found hime self surrounded, in a field and on top of a truck before. He thinks they are planning something 🤷🏻‍♀️😂

Dry hands. Like washing your hands, then drying them and not using any moisturiser.. I will use soap if there isn’t any I just cannot leave them that horrible soft/dry way straight afterwards. Anyone else get this?

This is pathetic I know but as a kid I used to find the Beast from Beauty and the Beast terrifying. Specifically two scenes; when Belles father is in the chair and he turns and the beast is there, and the scene where he screams at belle “GO AHEAD AND STARVE” 😂😂😂 legit both of those scenes still fill me with fear 😂

So basically it’s a phobia of a cartoon

Ice!!!

The noise of it scraping goes right through me. People biting ice lollies. Taking anything out of the freezer.

I have goosebumps even talking about it
I just came on the thread to write this one!!!! I can’t walk through snow either🤢🤢🤢. I can’t open the freezer because of the noise and god forbid I have to touch ice cubes. NOPE

- I have the fear of small holes (Trypophobia) - seeing a lotus seed head in particular makes me feel like I am about to vom
- Spiders - having 8 legs just isn’t normal and they are so fast and gross looking
- Cows - I have no idea why I am afraid of cows but I am terrified
- Not a phobia exactly but something from my childhood that still appears in my dream when I am having a nightmare - the bear from Teletubbies 🙈

My weird one is frogs / toads. Harmless but the way they look (their ‘skin’) makes me feel sick. I’d rather touch a dead body than a frog. I hate their bulgy eyes and I hate the ‘ribbit’. Mostly I hate the unexpected way they move. When I was a kid one jumped on my bare foot and I think that’s where it started. Managed to avoid them mostly in life. I’m an animal lover but honestly if a frog came at me I would kick it out of the way (sorry)

Not fears but just make me really uncomfortable / sick feeling -
1) when people click their fingers. I hate the way it sounds, it makes me shiver. Hate the way it looks too. Surprisingly, people do it a lot.
2)
False / acrylic nails. Absolutely hate the way they sort of flex / bend, it makes me fee queasy. To be honest, all long finger nails make me feel odd, I just keep mine super short, haven’t been able to cope when they have grown. Shame as I do like the way long nails look.
