I love the idea of miniature alcohol with a personalised sticker (buy cheap bottles on ebay and fill with your own alcohol) but a good few of my guests don't drink alcohol so would be a waste.
I'm having a Christmas wedding so did think of personalised baubles but don't think many would take them home let alone put them on their tree haha!
I also like the idea of homemade fudge/tablet!

We’re doing biscuits with our wedding date/our names. I know some people give really personal/quirky things but tbh I struggled to think of anything and everyone likes biscuits 😂
I’m also doing biscuits! I figured people could just stick them in their pocket and eat them in their room when they go to bed drunk and snackish if nothing else 😂

What is everyone doing for wedding favours?! I can’t decide if they are a complete waste of time/money or if it will look bad if we don’t get any for our guests! Interested in people’s thoughts…
Also think they’re a waste but our cake comes with loads of brownies, cookies and mini sponge cakes so those, and we’re donating to dogs trust in lieu of favours and will have little dog trust pins for everyone.

hi guys!

if i may ask, what would you say is a reasonable budget for a wedding in the uk?
Mine was about 5/6k

Hang on do I have to buy a present for my mum? What for?! 😂
I got my parents presents and for me , it wasn’t about what they were contributing towards the wedding but it was more of a thank you and appreciation for everything they had done for me bringing me up , making me who I was before I started a new life with my husband

8 weeks to go for us…. Waiting to hear back from suppliers is driving me mad. As we’re having a midweek, small wedding quite a few venue dressing companies allegedly have availability, but getting any of them to reply/give me a quote is like pulling teeth!

we are having 2 nights in the hotel we get married in as a mini moon as it’s in a beautiful place that we love and are going to leave the honeymoon until covid has calmed down/it’s more ‘normal’. We want to do NY or Norway (neither of us “do” chilling) so want to go when there are less restrictions

I’m getting married April 2022.

very small affair. Just 16 of us. Second time for each of us. Both in out fifties. We are being married in a hotel and then a seven course meal afterwards with wine flight. We are having no frills. Photos will be taken by the guests so we will choose our favourites. No wedding cake needed or even a DJ. As we are being married at 4pm and the champagne and canopies will be served at 6 followed by dinner. Just a new dress for me and a suit for him. Only me having a ring and bouquet. Buttonhole for my other half. Flowers for the table supplied by the hotel. Everyone staying overnight and breakfast in the morning. We are doing it all for just under 10k.
I do adore these paired back weddings and was inspired by Princess Beatrice

I’ve had a few issues with one bridesmaid, well my MOH. We’ve been best friends since we were 14 and would talk about our dream wedding day. Now mine is coming around, she couldn’t be interested in the slightest. Ours is in France a place she used to love and now she keeps giving sly digs about France, my colour scheme and theme in general 🤷🏼‍♀️
My friend is so similar she’s been my best friend since high school, been with her partner for 10 years, have 2 kids together not married or engaged and has always said she doesn’t want to get married which is obviously fine.

The thing that’s annoying me is I was single for years, always supportive and happy about her choices in life and there for her. I went to lots and lots of weddings on my own with no plus one and was always supportive and happy for other people and I just think I deserve the same back. I don’t have any close females in my family and lost my mum a few years ago and feel I really need someone there who knows me better than anyone and i always thought it was her but it seems not.

I also don’t want to be a bridezilla and don’t want to lose a friend over it, or someone taking the joy away from our day

Guys, what is your opinion on hens parties? I was thinking a weekend away, but I don’t want everyone to have to pay, especially if they don’t want to/can’t afford it.

Maybe a nice dinner and drinks with everyone?
Dinner/drinks and out to a bar or club if that’s your thing. Then everyone can go home after, no ones having to pay for hotels, and it’s contained to one night out.

It's your wedding. Those who are closest to you will do whatever you want with no complaints. You can do a nice dinner and drinks any time. Go all out girl! You only get married once! 💕
Disagree. Hen parties - and the whole notion of having a hen weekend or a fucking foreign holiday dressed up as a hen party has become utterly ridiculous. If you want to go on a weekend away or a holiday with your friends then fine but don’t try to force people to go by using the emotional pull of it being connected to the wedding to do so.

Omg, I’ve just found this thread now, I get married in 17 days. The stress is killing me.
I’m worried about everything,
Will my hair cooperate, will my makeup look nice, am I going to look fat in my dress.. do I even still like my dress.. what do I get my nails like, I still haven’t decided.

im Staying in a cottage near my venue the night before the wedding with my MOH, and the ceremony is 15:30. Myself and my MOH are setting up the aisle, and the tables (I’ve made all my decor myself) but we aren’t able to do so until 12:00. So obviously I’m now stressing that I won’t be ready in time. Aaaargggh.
Can anyone recommend nice nail ideas?
Plz help lol

Knew it wouldn’t be long…. H2B sister has said she won’t come to the wedding if her five (FIVE!!!) kids aren’t invited (to our kid-free wedding)

Bish don’t come then 😳🤷🏼‍♀️
One of my oldest friends isn’t coming to my wedding because her bf isn’t invited (they have been dating a matter of weeks and aren’t even Facebook official) 😂
She told me ‘I can’t come because I can’t bring my boyfriend’ wow

Oh gosh yes, what kind of shoes does everyone have? I badly wanted a pair of designer shoes covered in crystals but rapidly came to the conclusion I couldn't keep that up all day. I ended up with a less flashy, lower heeled pair for the ceremony and flats for the reception
I have the Gucci Marmont sandals 😍 Pricey but not so wedding that I can’t rewear them.

I’m on the lookout for pretty clutch bags but don’t want to allocate much of a budget to it 🤔

Where has everyone got groom suits from? Had a bit of time walking round John Lewis and Selfridges yesterday with the groom to be and already having sleepless nights about it.. 🙃🙃🙃
My H2B got them from Moss Bros.

Now I won't lie it's handy when you wanna search things but lthe majority of the questions could have been answered by google 😬😬😬😬😬
There all mad for the flip flops. What surprised me the most was the amount of ‘Extras’ people were shelling out for. Didn’t know what walking on clouds was til the other day!

Saw two wedding venues today, the one I was expecting to love I didn’t really like and the one I wasn’t too fussed about was lovely!

I want to organise my own hen too! I’m planning to do a bottomless brunch and then book a few bars to go on to afterwards. I want to include my mum/aunts/MIL etc so that way they can come but go home whenever they’ve had enough.

One of my friends keeps saying it’s a good excuse to go to Las Vegas but I’m not really fussed about anything like that - I know not everyone will be able to/want to spend that sort of money and I don’t want to have to leave people out.

Hi everyone. Been engaged to my OH for a long time and we’ve finally decided to think about planning a wedding. We don’t want anything big, fancy or mega expensive but would like it to be a nice day obviously. Im nervous about doing the ceremony in front of others as I hate public speaking, don’t want to be walked down the aisle as without going into detail, my family is sort of complicated and who ever I chose it would end up making things awkward or upsetting someone so I’d rather avoid it altogether and maybe have our kids in tow instead as flower girl/page boy. Neither of us fancy doing the traditional first dance at the reception either, we’re not really dancey sort of people and the idea makes us both cringe. Im just wondering if anyone else has picked and chose which traditions they partake in and which ones they disregard and how it went? Did anyone comment negatively or try to persuade you otherwise? Not that it matters what others think, just curious.

We want to get married but we want to do it our way and don’t want to do things that make us uncomfortable for the sake of tradition. I’m currently just browsing venues and stuff on hitched and getting a feel for the kind of prices we will be looking at. We want to keep things pretty simple and uncomplicated if that is even possible with a wedding. Anyway I look forward to catching up with the previous posts and reading everyone’s experiences!
I don’t think we will be having a first dance either, as I don’t really want to do that in front of everyone.

I’m having my mum walk me down the aisle as my dad is a waste of space… you just do things the way you want to! :)

Hello! New to this thread, getting married in 4 months!
Having a bit of a dilemma, we are getting married in Spain and current guidance is you must be double vaccinated. 2 bridesmaids, 1 being my sister are refusing to get the vaccine. I’m at a point of needing to order their dresses and other bits such as dressing gowns to get ready in. I’m thinking of asking them to stand down as bridesmaids. Then if the rules do change and they can still come that’s great but I just feel it will be a waste of money to order them clothing and other bits when they likely won’t be able to come. Anyone have any advice or help please? ☹
If the rule is they must be vaxxed, then the decision is out of your hands. They literally wouldnt be allowed. Id say that to them, that if rules change then you'd still want them there etc

April 2023 for us! 🙋‍♀️ Will be inviting just over 200 guests! But it’s in Ireland (we live in England) so I imagine we will get 170 coming! I’ve been super organised and I’ve everything down to my MUA booked 😄 my question is, do I have to bring my MIL to my dress fitting? And do I have to go with her when she picks her dress? My mum has died and I’m not remotely close to my MIL so I don’t really want her at my fitting as I know it will be very emotional between me and my sisters..
You definitely don’t need to have her at your fitting - and if she does ask, you can absolutely say because your mother is no longer around, you’d like to keep it as a special memory for you and your sisters. Nobody can argue with that ❤
As for her dress, completely up to you but if she’s anything like mine you might wanna go to make sure the dress ain’t god ugly 🤣
