Not sure if it’s been asked already, but does anyone have some amazing recommendations for the highest power best ever sucky in knickers. Because I’ve just got my dress back from being adjusted and I can’t stop staring at my fat round belly, it looks like I’m pregnant but I’m not, I feel very self conscious and sad right now. Should of bloody stuck to the diet I know :( please help

We’ve paid for our family’s accommodation as we’re making them travel, so they can think again if they think we’re getting them a present too

my best friend is getting married this year - as brides, what would you guys recommend me to get her as a wedding gift?

for context, i am not her maid of honour, her sister is, but i'm heavily involved in the planning, will be organizing the hen do with her sister, will be getting ready with them and their mum on the day, have known her for 20+ years, etc. so it's a really important one 😊
If it helps
For my brothers wedding present I got them.a star map print
It had 3 different stat maps
One for their first date, one the night they got engaged and one the night they got married
Most meaningful present I've ever bought anyone was for my brother on his wedding day. I got him a leather bracelet with a metal plate on it and found a company that copied handwriting, they engraved the handwriting of our deceased auntie into the metal plate of the bracelet. He cried when I gave him it.

Other ideas:
A box of date night ideas
A voucher for their favourite restaurant for a meal
A personalised frame to frame a wedding picture
If she has a Pandora bracelet a little wedding related pandora charm just for her
A sketch of their venue personalised to them (you can get them on not on the high street)

I was only thinking this morning how I’d love a tattle thread for wedding planning, then it popped up on the recent section 😂🤩
So commenting to stay here! I’m getting married in March 2023 - venue booked, church booked and guest list sorted but that’s it so far 😅

@Penguin 124 you must have sent me some dress buying luck because I also said yes to the dress today 🎉 first one I tried on as well! Not to mention it was a sample sale so paid £500 for a £2100 dress!

Over the moon 😁😁

Yes definitely! Funnily enough most of these comments come from the older women who got married young because they were pregnant and then their husbands cheated and divorced them for other women🙄! I can understand why they’re bitter, but they need to keep their comments to themselves!

anyway, we can’t let other people’s comments upset us because everyone has an opinion when you’re getting married!😂
I think no matter what you do people have an opinion about all the important things in your life, wedding, house and kids etc...
I know myself I cannot fadum people who get married before buying a house but that's just me and my thought process. Do I judge people as they decide to get married before buying a house, absolutely I think it's nuts but do I say it to their faces absolutely not sure it's their lives it doesn't effect me. I don't pretend like I'm perfect and nobody is we all be judging people behind their backs but I never say it to them, it's going to achieve nothing

Okay I know it's very first world problem but did anyone find it really annoying that all the emails with your new last name are already taken? 😂 I don't want to add some random numbers or my year of birth in there so I'm thinking of buying a domain with our last name so I can have email [email protected] 😂😂
Update: Future husband has bought it for me as a gift today. AND he still brought me flowers. This is why I’m marrying him. 😂💛

Oh I’m so glad I found this thread!
We’re getting married July 2022, a church wedding and then reception in a country hotel all in our little town where we met and now live together in.
I’ve booked the venues (got a really good package with the hotel for all the food, drinks, DJ, bridal suite etc.) photographer, hair, makeup and got the dress!
Really want a videographer but going to see how much the budget can stretch first 🤞🏻
Making my own cake eek 😬 and going to diy as much as possible!
We’re just stuck on the guest list we really need to go back over it as can only have 75 guests in the day and it soon adds up once you add plus ones, plus I would much rather have more of my friends There than family we never talk to or see 🥴
My rules for cutting down my list were:
Have you seen them within the last year / six months (depending on how strict you want to be)?
Would you willingly take them out for tea and spend £80 (or whatever the cost of your meal per head is) on just their food?
Would you spend time with them in normal social circumstances?
Do you actually enjoy their company? Or are they just a "well they invited me theirs/well they're your cousin" type of invite?

I didn't invite anyone outside of my direct, immediate family (my dad and my sister), my husband invited 2 sets of aunts/uncles and 1 cousin, ours was mainly a party for our friends who we actually enjoy spending time with!

Just under 9 months to go for us 🙈! I feel like we really need to start organising things now. We’ve still got to do:

-buy rings
-get bridesmaids dresses
-get bridal shoes (before my fitting in March)
-get the groom & best man suits & shoes
-order then send out invites for day & night
-give notice to registrar

we are already slightly over budget too, but I think it is from more guests being added 🙈! We’ve got our savings accounts though for the wedding and the honeymoon and we are saving harder than ever before 🤞

My partner and I are paying for the wedding ourselves. We have a little boy. He has a 3 yeR old nephew and 1 year old niece and I have a niece on the way currently. My mums trying to say we can't have those kids and then say to everyone else no children, my response was "watch me" 😂 sorry I don't like anyone else's kids enough to pay £30 for them to come to my wedding and a lot of the kids in my family, to put it bluntly, are little shits

Is anyone else getting married on a weekend and going back to work on the Monday?

we get married on a Saturday, I’m in work Monday-Thursday and then we go on honeymoon for two weeks.

everyone I work with is horrified that I’m coming back to work so quickly? I’m not having a baby, I’m marrying a man I’ve lived with for five years 🤣 I don’t want to spend a few days off with him, unless we are on honeymoon😂😂

Im going to a spa for the evening with a couple of my close friends for my hen… organised by me. Don’t like fuss, don’t want to be the centre of attention, don’t really drink so suits me just fine

Is anyone thinking about music for theirs? I thought I was really going to struggle and that my fiancé would veto a lot but we decided fairly quickly!
We are both a little alternative and I really wanted something sweet but also different for our first dance so we went with a Jimmy Eat World song! (if you've seen A Cinderella Story you'll know the one)
Two weeks to go for us now! 😬

Does anyone else have fears of having hardly any guests at the wedding?
I have 13 cousins, who mostly all have partners & children. Altogether there’s nearly forty people there, but hardly any of them ever turn up for family events!
Most of the christenings and weddings I’ve been to, hardly any of our family have even been there!
Now I’ve also found out an auntie might be on holiday when it’s the wedding!🙄

My partner has a tiny family and we don’t exactly have a large friendship group, so there’s not going to be loads of people there really…

Does it matter? We have about 30-33 in the day and we are inviting about an extra 75 to the night. I reckon in total, if basically none of my family come, then there will be like 60 guests at the night do… 😂
We’re having 4 guests 🤣 we both come from huge families but I refuse to share my day with people I don’t really care about. Then we’re having about 40 or so to a party a few days later. If the people you want there are coming that’s all that matters. Those who don’t come, maybe aren’t that important.

In my country I'd say that 90% of brides rent a dress (I think this is a very Balkan thing to do). The problem is that the selection of dresses is just.. Pretty dated. Salons have large selections of A line and princess style dresses but I wanted something much more simple and when I said I don't want any lace, tulle or glitter they looked at me like I was an alien haha. Rental is not cheap either like most of the dresses would be 600-1000 € just to rent it for a day and some of them are worn multiple times before your day so they can be in a pretty bad condition.

So when I was in London in september I went to Grace Loves Lace just to see what they have and get a better experience, and the first dress I tried on I knew it was the one. I went in alone because I didn't expect to actually buy it from there and it was the first time I was trying on wedding dresses! But spending 2k on a dress seemed insane to me so I wrote it off and went to our salons at home again but nothing could even compare. In the end my mom was so extremely generous and got it for me. She convinced me that it's better to buy a dress I absolutely fell in love with (plus I can cut it shorter and wear like a slip midi dress after) than to pay 1k for renting something that doesn't feel like me.

It's funny because the dress is the most simple dress and yet it was impossible to find anything like it here. It's the most extra thing I've done in my life and my bf was very against it. If my mum wouldn't be so generous I would probably never get it for myself but I'm very grateful to her that I will get to wear it. But like you said - it is one day but it would be a shame to look back and regret not getting what you really wanted if you had that option.
