I've been there, I've stopped going to the girl who done mines as it was horrendous and I cried lol
Oh no. How did you manage it while it was growing out?
Mine was air drying while it was being cut and they were diffusing the back of it… I was like 🥴 I could even see a spray bottle that they could have used to keep it wet 😂 then loads of product was put in it 😖 so it was crispy and straggly.

When your hairdresser definitely doesn’t know how to to handle curly hair 🥹🥴
Oh no 😬. I haven't had mine cut for years and it really needs doing now. I've been hunting for a hairdresser that knows how to cut curly hair, but the specialists all seem to be based in cities and not nearby to me 😑

Do you think you’ll end up going into the city to get it done? I like in a city… and my hairdresser actually has curly hair 🙈

I may have to it seems! I thought about messaging some nearby ones to ask if they had experience working specifically with curly hair, but thought some may just fib to get the business... 😕

Worth having a google around forums in case there are mobile curly specialists in/can travel to your area!

Reddit has some curly hair subs that are both international and regional too so give that a look. And though obviously a high risk of oddballs...facebook groups too!

Well, I’ve washed my hair since getting it cut… and all I can say is… wtf has my hairdresser done to my hair?! 😖
Despite me telling them i was no longer straightening my hair and having it curly, they blow dried my hair and used a barrel brush and curled it at the front (I was too polite to say anything) 🙈 and diffused the back?! 😳
So I diffused it all and it’s definitely not a cut for curly hair. Arghh. Looks like I’m going to have to wear to straight until it grows. It’s also been thinned out to high heaven.
Deffo need to look for a curly haired specialist 😢

Maybe one of these is close to you. Reading the article, there is something called DEVA trained which I assume is some specialist curly hair training. 10 Top UK Curly & Natural Hair Salons | NaturallyCurly.com

That’s the nearest one to me. The release appointments on a monthly basis. Maybe in a couple of months time, I’ll try and get one once my hair has grown 😂

I’ll feel bad for ditching my current hairdresser after many years…

Yesss I assume it’s the same as the DevaChan curly hair salon in lower Manhattan

Does anyone have any recommendations for a gel spray? John Frieda Frizz Ease line had one years ago which I used as a kid and I remember loving it. I can’t seem to find it though so I’m assuming it’s now discontinued. Tbh I don’t even know if gel sprays are that popular anymore but I’m hoping there’s still a good few out there!

Do you have curly/straight hair? Aveda do some good sprays for curly hair, and Paul Mitchell have this one

3b, lucky you 😍! I use Aveda when I wear my hair curly, it’s not a gel but the best curl spray I’ve used (2a/2b):

where is everyone on the curl chart, I'm intrigued? - I'm 2c/3a with a few 2bs in the mix !

Mostly 3B with a few 3A around the crown and 3C around the face. I hate it and would pay anything to change it to 2A/2B if it were possible! Have actually considered getting a straightening treatment to loosen the curls a bit but I feel it would cause too much damage.

I between 2b and 2c.

I have done curly girl on and off but a lot og the time I just brush my hair when wet and tie it up as curls are so much work. Friends and family were shocked to see my curls since I have started leaving my hair natural recently. By natural i mean using mousse and gel and not just brushing my curls out 😂

I love boucleme. I think i have founded my holy grail product after trying ever gel and brand out there!

How do you all refresh your curls? I am happy with mine on wash day but then after sleeping on them they can be hit or mix the next day. I sleep in a satin bonnet a lot of the time.
