Been a veggie half my life and hearing the eco nuts makes me want to get back on the meat wagon just to piss them off 😂 😂
I'm glad more people are eating less meat but hate the way it's been shoved at people.
One of my aunts is veggie has been all my life as she just hates the taste of meat. Personally I'm not a big fan of red meat and like a lot of veggie dishes but its the vegan army and all these companies now on board shoving plant based down our throats 😂 if I want to eat plants ill munch one of my hanging baskets lol

I always think people who eat a lot of plant alternatives then surely they misd the real foods just eat them 😂

I worked in pub that specialised in full roast dinner. Meat, vegetables, potatoes and "North of Watford Pudding" which is a *hilarious* nod to the fact that us southerners tend to believe anything north of Watford is "The North" and so therefore basically Yorkshire. Had several customers eagerly finish their roast and excitedly ask about the pudding, only to be told that they had already eaten it... 😬

Mint sauce, apple sauce, cranberry sauce and horseradish are the only acceptable condiments in addition to Gravy on a roast.

Tonight I'm having honey glazed gammon roast potatoes Brussel sprouts cauliflower cheese parsnips and Yorkshire puddings 😋 all the Xmas leftovers from freezer.

I have yorkshire puddings with any meat on a Sunday LOVE THEM.

Agree with some points about penny pinching more towards people who are cheap for sake of it ie. someone with a decent income no debt etc that can afford to not live in a freezing house with no lights on living miserably to save a few pounds. Its different from people who genuinely can't afford it.

I know my bills to the penny so I can budget to afford them all and not have to scrimp and afford basics etc. Will always get those misers that make themselves live in poverty and misery to leave XXX amount cash when they die. Like mate get the heating and kettle on 😂

Penny pinchers annoy me, too. I've got a friend who watches every penny like a hawk. When we go out for meals, he's desperate to make sure he only pays for exactly what he's had and always refuses to leave a tip. He never buys anything unless he 100% needs it and always goes for the cheapest brands.

I could understand if he was skint, but he's not. Live a little, mate.

My uncle never turned the heating on or a light, slept in his coat, sat in the betting shop all day for a warm (never a bet) and lived on poundland sandwiches.

He died last year and we were shocked to discover he had savings to the tune of 6 figures (and a lot of pens from the betting shop) ☹

Sad. :( I often wonder what drives that kind of behaviour.

I don't think it's always just about being mean. I think they sometimes have a fear that they'll someday need a chunk of money for something and want to make sure they're prepared (i.e. saving for a rainy day).

Or I think it can be to do with how they were raised. An aunt of mine was always careful with money and constantly tried to downplay how much she had, to the point it became an in joke. My mum thinks it was because my aunt's dad was the same. Sadly she died in her early 60s. Seems a shame she couldn't make the most of her money while she was still with us.

I always feel this is people who grew up during the war when nobody had anything and everything was rationed

Why are the British so obsessed with sweetcorn, you put it in everything!
No no that would be avocado... it's virtually impossible to find anything vegan or veggie without it.. it's not that I don't like it.. it's more erm that it doesn't like me..

clearly you havent been on a low budget and gone out for a family dinner where you had a 6 quid veggie option and everyone else had steaks etc... don't expect me to pay for your fecking expensive taste or slabs of dead animal... your fancy puddings, wine and alcoholic coffees

Absolutely we always tried to encourage him to have a little comfort and offers of meals or cleaning were deemed as 'interfering', he was very insular.

I have given it much thought and think maybe he got a thrill seeing the pennies mount up or rather him, mum and 4 other siblings grew up in poverty so it was a safety blanket type thing.

Yes all born during the 40s (two sets of twins). My mum still squashes little bits of soap together to make a new bar.

no theu go with everything..we have them with any roast and sometimes pies

Definitely agree on this explanation. I grew up in a family on benefits we had no money, house always freezing, no lunch and if you didn't eat dinner you didn't eat. I was bullied at school for not having decent clothes etc and its never left me.

I dont want my children to feel that way so I'm very careful with money, budget everything, have a second job and use every cash back and money off voucher or code I can find. But I'm not cheap. I do it so we can have the heating on, they can eat when they like and don't go without.

Bloody expensive to live nowadays but I thi nk I'm extra careful Because of my childhood. My ex partner always used to joke about me hoarding food and having money pots 😂 its all well and good being careful but still need to live

I think we had the same childhood !

My husband pokes fun at me for being tight but I think once you've had nothing you know the value of everything. Its like if the kids want a hot chocolate from Costa i say no it costs too much we'll have one at home, I could afford it but again I deem their products overpriced and it's a good lesson for them - I want them to know the value of things, they have fencing lessons and I never had a bedroom carpet.

Ps I do buy them the occasional Costa I'm not horrid

Pps Yorkshires with everything and mustard on a Sunday dinner

Don’t know if this is an UO but
Soap operas. Wtf is the point?. Bad acting, constant drama, death, affairs etc. I’ve got enough tit going on in my life without watching some Z listers weeping and wailing and gnashing their teeth on cobbles or in a pub. Oh and hollyoaks…all the above with half naked people 😂

I refused my kids toasties as we walked by Costa today. We were on our way home anyway and have everything here to make superior toasties than Costa would have sold us for around a tenner.

On soap operas…I think you can tell the kids who get to watch them by the dramatic and shouty way they behave with their friends at school.

I worked with a bloke who had his house full of lodgers , would only ever fit 40watt light bulbs ( never a 100watt) and who would push his Honda moped across the road through an underpass from Work, to be on the right side of the road to ride home rather than start it up , go out the gate & turn right at the traffic lights 100yds down the road.......... Tight as arseholes. Dropped dead of hypothermia one Winter, we only heard a fortnight later when our boss went round the premises & a lodger who was moving out told him. Early 60s, I'd guess , when he died. Took parsimonious to a new level & killed himself through it.

People that label their babies mini influencers with over 160k followers and dress them like this shouldn’t be allowed to parent.
