I wonder if the NHS has caught onto this? Might help fight the obesity crisis!Speed is actually much more effective for losing weight
It used to be prescribed but is a banned substance in diet pills.I wonder if the NHS has caught onto this? Might help fight the obesity crisis!
I couldn't care less what colour the people on TV shows are and I don't want everything to be all white hetrosexual. Soaps have always had a big range of characters and they are better for it.^^^ Many of the people that claim the UK is so tolerant are often white..? Doubt you’ve experienced life as a non-white person in every single different part of the UK for you to confirm this but hey.
People complain about “wokeness” (seems like it’s only the people who dislike it that actually use that term but anyway), these days it feels like I hear more about racism from people that say ‘it’s gone too far’ or “not all white people are racist” and the classic “stop making everything is about race” than from people bringing up racism in general. But maybe I’m consuming different media to everyone else. In reality most people are just getting on with their lives.
Side note: You might not ‘enjoy’ having so many non-white (or queer as mentioned previously) people on your TV screen, but realistically how is it detrimentally impacting your life. There are so many shows with nearly all-white heterosexual casts…just watch those? Some make it out like there are no more white people at ALL on TV anymore. Not the case.
This is a good point, but box-ticking does actually provide opportunities and work for people where they otherwise would have had little to no chance in succeeding, especially in entertainment. But, some of the inclusivity in TV is so box ticking it's pathetic and tbh an insult. Organisations that are built on sexism and racism acting like they are so inclusive now because every advert has a mixed race family. All the while behind the scenes its the same old upper class white boys club.
Whether people like it or not, >80% of the UK is made up of people identifying as of white ethnicity and it is still largely Christian (C of E) denomination. Having travelled and lived in other countries, I know for a fact we are far more liberal and inclusive than most and I'm sick to death of being told because I'm white I have no opinion on race/equality divisions. Of course it doesn't affect me in the way it does other ethnicities, but I'm not deaf, dumb or blind. I understand we still have unacceptable issues in equality but that doesn't mean I have to apologise for being white all the time. My family are English by blood (circa 16c) so this is my heritage and I'm entitled to own that without being told I'm wrong or should be ashamed and I will vote as I God damn please. This is a good point, but box-ticking does actually provide opportunities and work for people where they otherwise would have had little to no chance in succeeding, especially in entertainment.
We say people should get hired because of their talent/merit but it literally used to be the case that people missed out because employers just didn’t like the look of someone full stop, even if they were just as or more qualified than their peers, but they’ll say it’s something else. There is of course a point where you draw the line, but right now I honestly don’t feel like it’s gone *too* far (YET), unless again, I’m living on a completely different planet to everyone else and see media that seems fairly representative of the UK? Still mostly white people but more like 65% rather than 98%?
This is the state we're in. My first thought was 'he's lying'. I'm questioning the Prime Minister saying his baby is seriously ill. Quite incredible.Like fuck was Johnson’s daughter seriously sick with covid,
Any time he faces serious criticism he ends up in “icu” his latest woman has a baby, and now he’s using a child to cover his ass.
I did say the UK is more liberal than a number of other countries in Europe (having also visited and lived in others too). But the UK is still no dreamland, nor will anywhere ever will be, for anyone (except the stinking rich lol). Curious, under what circumstances have you had to actively apologise for being white? Or do you mean in general you feel people want you to feel bad for being white?Whether people like it or not, >80% of the UK is made up of people identifying as of white ethnicity and it is still largely Christian (C of E) denomination. If you try to have an opinion on anything it's always 'well you would say that because you're white'! It's ridiculous. I'm also highly educated and don't live in a bubble. I deplore racism/sexism/xenophobia as much as people who face it daily, it's ignorant and baseless. Believe me, if I could eradicate the thick scum who invoke it I would.I did say the UK is more liberal than a number of other countries in Europe (having also visited and lived in others too). The people I know who voted Leave initially was because they were more pissed off with the government than the EU. Also the Remain campaign was shocking. They didn't highlight anything we would be losing by leaving they just gave us threats of WW3 and punishment budgets. Meanwhile, Nigel Farage was charging around on a bus telling everyone there would be more money for the NHS. It also didn't help that just prior to the referendum David Cameron had been negotiating with EU for some concessions and the EU refused point blank.Tbh I don’t buy the idea that everyone who voted brexit was a racist, most of the people I know who voted for it did so because they were genuinely sick of the state of the country after 10 years of austerity, Nigel Farage and his cronies came along telling everyone the UK’s problems are all the fault of the EU and they believed it. They voted leave because they wanted to improve things in the UK.
Agreed. I think that’s true of all votes - very few people research into it and have all the facts, knowledge of policies etc. And I include myself in that.In my opinion very few people had enough information or knowledge to make a proper, informed choice about remaining in the EU or deciding to leave.
They could have quite easily used the vote to re-negotiate membership terms to our advantage, but the EU were very much determined to say fuck you. That in itself should tell people that the relationship was one-sided!The people I know who voted Leave initially was because they were more pissed off with the government than the EU. It sounds a bit pathetic but I think if the Government had just done some silly thing like change the colour of the passports (which they were entitled to do) and put their foot down a bit more with the EU it may have resulted in a different result.
My grandchildren call me,Gary. The first one couldn’t say, Granny, so it stuck. I do get some odd looks from other people, when the little ones shout for “ Gary!”It’s like the name Gary. Who looks at a newborn and thinks “im gonna call you Gary, you look like a Gary”.
Love thisMy grandchildren call me,Gary. The first one couldn’t say, Granny, so it stuck. I do get some odd looks from other people, when the little ones shout for “ Gary!”
