I think her video was well-intended but she sounds even more privileged that in most of her other videos
13y/o her would go shopping for victoria secret lingerie to "fill" her insecurities, buy skinny tea and "invest" in shaving stuff...
That's a lot of expenses for a preteen ...

oh wow she sounds like every basic self help book out there

Oh wow, she actually got cringier, well I suppose she's always aiming high!
But actually, I would actually like to call out one specific thing in her video that is just factually incorrect: her comment that desirable bodies change all the time. Yes, the fashionable silhouette does change over time, in the 1850s and 60s skirts were huge and wide, in the 1870s and 80s they were gathered up into bustles, etc, but I don't recall any instance where the photo she shows for the 1930s was in fashion, and certainly not in the 1930s. The fashionable silhouette in the 1930s was more curvy than in the 1920s, yes, but absolutely nothing like what she depicts, and as an amateur dress historian this bugs me.
I will also point out that she makes the (admittedly common) mistake of suggesting that what changed over time was women's bodies, which is incorrect, what usually changed was women's clothes and specifically their underwear.
I understand this isn't the point of the video, the point of the video was that we shouldn't berate ourselves for how we look in any given moment, but for me this is just the perfect example of a continuing lack of effort and yet preachiness that is evident in all of her recent content.
Oh, and the pictures are some actual pictures of fashionable clothing dated, as best as I could find out, betwern 1935 and 1936.

I have a lot of respect for Jade, just confused as to why she has replaced the word women with womxn?
According to wiki
“The term Womxn (/ˈwʊmən/), used by some feminists, especially in the intersectional feminist movement, is one of several alternative spellings of the English word woman. It is used to avoid the spelling woman (which contains and derives from men), and to foreground transgender, nonbinary, and non-white women.“

Because she’s a bleeping idiot.

Why are non-white women lumped in with transgender “women”? That is deeply offensive.
how is it offensive? it just serves to be inclusive of women who have historically been marginalised by 20th century liberal feminism. it is in common usage in contemporary critical theory.

Jade can’t handle that she doesn’t cater to her old audience anymore 😂 it’s ridiculous seeing her try and cling onto loose edges to keep everyone engaged but in doing so just seems desperate and silly

The point is that her channel used to be about high school, but now it's more about her travels. Her university is interesting only because she travels, otherwise she could never make content about it because it would only be a boring online university like many others. With this coronavirus outbreak she and many other youtubers whose content was only about travel are trying to stay relevant in any way possible and I guess that's showing who really has something to say and who doesn't.

she just posted a new video on...finances? i wonder if she's going to tackle the issue on minerva's fees

EDIT: no she didn't, she just talked about credit cards, credit score and pensions. how on earth is it possible that ruby granger afforded buying a house at 18, holly gabrielle also had a full deposit for a house, and jade's been rejected 3 times on getting a credit card? did she spend all her youtube money + savings on her first year at minerva?

by the way... why does she always think that after reading ONE book about a subject she's suddenly an expert on that matter and makes a youtube video explaining so?

I would have thought her Oxford rejection would actually bring her down a peg, instead now she's doubling down on her sanctimoniousness and smugness and acting like she knows everything about something when she really only has a surface level understanding. I'm not sure if it's more from Minerva making them think they're all really special compared to others their age or just growing up in an MLM family.

That's one of my biggest issues with the big studytubers (i.e. Jade, Ruby, Holly, Eve) they aren't all that relatable because they don't seem to worry or struggle with money, they live in big houses, get to go on all these trips, can afford so many luxuries, are constantly getting gifted things and the amount holly charges for her tutoring is just ridiculous but that's for another thread. Not saying they don't all work hard but it's not very realistic.

The thing is, the reason why they succeed it because they’re white and middle class, they don’t look around them and see what’s happening because they don’t engaged with people from very different backgrounds! Not once during this whole thing has she mentioned she’s middle or upper class! This has everything to do with where you end up/what happens on top of issues like race and gender

Thanks to whoever linked her tiktok, just watched a few of them (and I'm never going to get that time back, smh). One of them really stood out to me, like the video she made on the topic but I just forgot about: "Thought experiment for when you're feeling low, what if today was the last day of your life?" um, that won't cure a mental illness. It's this MLM attitude, she thinks that you can just choose when to be happy, and when you're sad you just need to do a 'thought experiment' and suddenly you're happy again... really gets on my nerves.

I agree with all of the above. The pivotal moment where I doubted her was when she came out of one of her A level exams bawling because she ran out of time to answer a question!

She made the news and tabloids yet still achieved an A*.

Her inane grin, over the top hand gestures and that irritating laugh whilst talking grate on my nerves.

She has her minions and good luck to her for all she may achieve but her ‘hey, hi, hello’ is a ‘see you, so long, signing out’ from me.

I used to watch Jade alongside the whole Study Tubers crew several years ago when they were mostly applying to university like myself. At first I liked their content alongside Jade’s because it was different but I realised that they mostly had several things in common; they came from middle class families who more than likely provided them private tuition and went to good schools. Not one of them has really struggled with education or finances that would hinder their educational achievements in any way. The only true relatable one is Ibz Mo because he came from a hard place and turned it around, Jade has never known struggle and is a constant whiner. I can’t believe she settled for Minerva instead of Bristol.

She is an absolute fool because it’s a university that offers you practically nothing, imagine if something happened and it lost accreditation because it’s so shady in her final year? Yes she has some sort of acclaim to her name but she can’t lead the YouTube life forever. Maybe Bristol may have not been the wanderlust lifestyle she wanted to lead but it’s a reputable university.
