Am glad to have found this thread. I looked on Mumsnet once and quite frankly it was shit 😂
Been TTC for about 9 months now....not long but I am 42 so feel time is really against me. Waiting for a referral to the fertility clinic but covid has shown everything down so considering paying privately
Have had tests with GP which has shown no concern for me, my partner has low sperm motility though, which is ironic as he already has two kids and both were conceived on the first try...so came as a bit of a shock to both of us
We’re not going to have fertility treatment, not really an option for us financially, so we’re going to try for a few more months and if it doesn’t happen then it’s not meant to be
Just wanted to say hi before I catch up with the thread...

My period is due on Monday but trying to stop myself from taking an early test as I know they are not very reliable ... just trying to keep my mind busy with work etc.
I was in the same position last week, I didn’t think I would be but built myself up to thinking what if. My period was due on Monday this week and I took a test on Saturday which was negative. I was really disappointed even though we weren’t particularly trying last month so I wasn’t expecting it to be positive anyway!

I’ve decided now not to take any early ones, I was definitely setting myself up for disappointment with that last one.

Fingers crossed for you on Monday though! x

Personally I’d go for the Easy@Home ones from Amazon, there’s an app to go with it & it gives you a ratio, along with tracking your cycle & symptoms & BBT. The clear blue ones work out so expensive in the long run. It’s all a learning curve I’m so glad I found this thread I’ve not told anyone we’re trying for baby #2 so it’s been driving me insane🤣
Thank you! Straight on Amazon 😂

I feel the same. The only two of my close friends who have babies were happy accidents, so I don’t have anyone to discuss these things with! Feel like this thread is going to be very helpful haha

I took a test this morning 6 days before my predicted period, I’ve had so many symptoms that I thought would be pregnancy ones!
Nausea, sore nipples, ache in the right side, smell sensitivity when everyone in work ordered food! But nope got a BFN
Just waiting for AF now, hopefully she comes before my birthday so I can at least drink and try again next month
Love to you all ❤

Yeah
Hey, has anyone used the ClearBlue ovulation connected kit? I bought it yesterday to use this cycle and seems pretty straight forward. Anyone else? X
Yes I do! Actually got my peak this morning (static smiley) after 7 days of the flashing face. Id been using the cheapo ones the last 3 months and nothing. Was put off by the price but didn't buy the luisa suissman tablets this month and bought these instead! All seems straightforward, I set up the app and checked it connected to my tester as soon as I got it.
Now just got to work out if I can convince my 3 year old to watch a film so I can go and wake my hubby up 😂😂 ill report back in 2 weeks I guess 🤞

Wondered for the longest time what TTC meant! Glad to have found this thread as a 29 year old woman who is looking to stop birth control in Jan and let nature run its course. Would be super useful in the next thread to have something that explains abbreviations, TTC, AF, cycles, BC, OPK (still don’t know what a few of these mean haha!). Think I’ll get a diary so I can start to track my hormonal changes and mood for the first few months x

Looks like I've got my period yet again 😔
Felt really positive about it this month, but too bad. Felt it coming though: greasier hair, pimples, lower back pain, easily angered, nauseous... Ugh, I hate PCOS...
Kinda scared for the real first day of my period, because ever since I've gotten off the pill (Oct '19), PCOS got free reign and my period has been so SO painful. Waking up crying, unable to do anything foe hours on end, pain killers taking ages to work...

I'm turning 30 in 5 months, I just want baby, why does my body feel the need to punish me for that?!
(I know, I know, my body doesn't really punish me, but ffs it sure feels like it is and I'm feeling hormonal)
On the bright side: it's wine o'clock! 🥳

How's everyone holding up?
I’m still in my TWW, feeling positive about the sex we had around the time of my predicted ovulation but as it wasn’t on the day I’m not feeling that hopeful.

My birthday’s on the 28th and my period’s predicted the day after part of me wants to test on my birthday but it could go either way couldn’t it!
I don’t want to be sad on my birthday if it’s a BFN 😂

I hope you’re okay, enjoy your wine & get back on that horse next month❤

I didn’t even think it was possible to get a false positive!!
It’s not, really. For the OP of that post to have false positives from 2 different brands in the same month possibly indicates it could have been a chemical pregnancy or where the egg has fertilised but failed to implant. That’s common and can give off a faint positive line. For a false positive to happen any other way could also mean blood in the urine - albeit very rare for tests to give false positives on a 99% accuracy on more than one branded test x

My period is due on Boxing Day! Not sure whether to test early before Christmas, and risk being disappointed, or to just wait and see what happens on Boxing Day...

Trying not to think about it too much but my partner is already thinking of excuses for me not drinking if we get good news before Christmas!

Honestly, just start trying. If you’re ready; go for it. I had a family member at the beginning of the year try and tell me to not try for a baby cause of covid. I’m self employed and currently 5 months pregnant now! Not the most ideal situation but as long as you have a roof over your head and lots of love for baby (obviously I know you need more things, but if money is tight you can get some amazing used stuff for babies)
Without sounding negative; you just don’t know how long it’ll take! We took about 18 months which shocked me cause of us being “young” but sometimes things take a little longer! There were tonnes of things that I could have said to delay trying for a baby (wanting to move house, wanting more holidays etc) but we just thought sod it, we will see what happens! Good luck with whatever you choose to do 😊
Yeah your point about how long it could take is so true - we could wait another year and it could potentially not happen straight away then either. We’ve decided to start trying now and just see what happens! Hopefully it’ll all work itself out in the end.

I’ve heard people say the same about pregnancy during Covid but aside from the changes in hospital appointments etc then that’s another thing you can’t really wait for either - who knows how long this will all last for! Good luck with your pregnancy 😊

Thank you everyone who replied about my crap redundancy situation, I’ve not told people that we’re starting to try yet so I haven’t been able to moan properly to anyone! This thread has really helped ❤

Thanks for setting this forum up! I’m new to all of this and can’t believe I never knew anything about ovulation and my cycle before! 🤣 not told anyone apart from my husband that we’re trying so it feels really nice to have a forum to learn from when you can’t ask your friends for advice. I’ve ordered some ovulation strips and started taking folic acid. Due to work and schedules we currently only have sex 1-2 times a week but looking at everyone posts we need to be seriously upping that haha ❤

Anyone else feel like EVERYONE is announcing pregnancies at the moment? Feel like it’s never gonna be me doing that.
I’ve had to delete my social media for a bit because whenever I opened it someone was announcing a pregnancy! Even a load of “celebs” seem to have announced pregnancies recently!

I couldn’t hold on any longer, I did a test & it came back negative. AF due next Thursday. I’ve never felt like this before I am due on so I’m truly praying I may get a positive soon. 😔

Same here! I was also feeling positive but starting to get the usual cramps and hormonal spots on my chin ☹. I’’m 30 next week so was hoping for nice birthday surprise! Guess that means it’s wine o’clock for me too! Cheers 🥂

Eh, ever heard of consent?
I agree. You can’t just go ahead with it and not give the other party a choice. That’s wrong in my opinion and I’d hate some bloke to dump a baby on me and tell me it’s mine (not that it would be able to happen). I told my other half I was coming off the pill on a certain date as I wanted children. If he didn’t want the possibility of me getting pregnant then he was welcome to sort out contraception. He hasn’t bothered and is on board, but we’re not actively trying. But he was given the choice and has full knowledge. Always best to be honest about your intentions

I agree that the photos seem to be taken too far away from the strips to be able to properly determine the ratio between the test and control line but I am not sure which app is being used so I am not sure of the instructions given there.

Just like @Lulu Goss I use Premom and they have quite specific instructions on how to take the photo as well as (imo) clear instructions which makes my life easier. I'll attach photos from my last cycle and current cycle of using OPKs, I had to change the lightbulb in my bathroom between cycles so you can also see the difference in lighting, although it's only a difference of a soft and warm light and I saw that this had little to no effect on my photos of the test strips.

Some people have a sudden surge of LH and some people have a gradual surge, I fall into the latter category which you can see from my tests as well. But the only way I was able to see this was by testing at around the same time every day and twice a day as I was nearing my potential fertile period. I'd recommend testing twice a day as well until you have more knowledge about your own cycle so you know when you are usually reaching your fertile period x

You'll also see that between two cycles my fertile periods take place under different days of the cycle, your body isn't a machine so you might ovulate later than you might expect. Just keep testing, I know it can be frustrating, I only calm down once I see my high and peak levels 😅

Thank you! I’m going to start testing twice a day from today & track it on the premom app and Femometer app and see how they compare.
I was trying to get the full strip in the line cause I thought that’s what I needed to do but now I’ll take it closer. I didn’t realise there was so much to think about!
@Dipdab I think feelings of jealousy are completely normal! Another girl on my Facebook announced her second pregnant this week and I was the same, how is it fair they have a child already and I haven’t had my first yet.
Our time will come once lockdowns over hopefully it’ll be easier to avoid thinking about it! x

I don't believe in it, the stress thing, unless your periods stop you're not stressed enough to not get pregnant. Just a trope trotted out by people. You know you can get pregnant, so just keep at it, and it will surely happen again for you x

Hey ladies, new to TTC. Have been using Ovia and fitbit app to track cycle for a few months. Had no idea about how crucial timing can be. AF was due on Tuesday. I have had cramps most days this week, constipation and some trapped wind. Might just be me being optimistic, but without my period happening, ive taken these to be possible symptoms. Have been googling 1-4 week pregnancy symotoms hehe. Testing this weekend 🤞🤞 so excited but also trying not to get my hopes up.
