It’s nice to speak to someone in a similar position. I definitely find these threads hard, this one isn’t too bad but I had been on mumsnet and had to delete my account, reading about someone in their mid 20s who hadn’t manage to conceive after a couple of months wasn’t really helping me. I had read up about the IVF stance so I was prepared and went into the testing process expecting them to say it was me, after all my OH has 2 kids which were conceived easily. I think I’d said previously I wanted answers so could think about next steps.Thank you so much for sharing your story. I’ve dipped in and out of these threads but found them quite triggering - a mixture of anger and anxiety - and not really identified with anyone posting.
I’m in the process of booking for a fertility MOT privately, particularly because I don’t think I’ll get much support from the NHS. I’m also furious about their IVF stance for those forty+ but have to try and not let that bubble up too much.
My partner too has two (adult) children which would have also counted against us. He says he wants it for me but honestly I don’t find him as supportive as he could be.
I am dreading being told bad news but I need to rip the plaster off and know what I’m dealing with. I’m not sure how we’ll afford to pay for it but I know I’d have to try at least once because the idea of never having even one child is too awful to bear. For those of you in this thread who have been upset about difficulty in conceiving number two or maybe three, please never lose sight of how lucky you are to have one child in the process.
May I ask how you found the testing process? I presume it was an AMH blood test and ultrasound scan? When they said it may require 2-3 rounds what did they base it on?
Thank you, and good luck with it all x
Get busy now!!!I did an ovulation test today. There was a faint line. My periods have been all over the place (suspected PCOS. Currently waiting for an appointment to scan ovaries) I did test as I thought i may have been ovulating due to changes in substances (you know what I mean) now what!!???
Yes, the what ifs are hard. I miscarried at 12 weeks last year and I often sit here picturing how different my life would be nowIt is impossible not to get your hopes up, I was only a day or 2 late last cycle and didI'm very lucky to already have a little boy, just hard thinking I should be over half way through my pregnancy now or thinking I would have got pregnant again by now. 2022 has a nice ring to it

Hi ladies... I tested again this morning (with second MU) and no change at all in colour!! I feel like such an idiot for testing early now I just feel like crapI’m 12po (according my to my app) so deffo think I’m out this month! I have posted a pic below... it’s tweaked!
baby dust to all![]()
That's actually me! One twinge *Google's 1 DPO*A bit of light hearted reliefI’m sure we’ve all been there View attachment 533737
Quoting myself because I bloody KNEW itAnd now my temp is lower again this morning, I’ve honestly not got a bloody clue what is going on at this point
At least this means I can drink wine on Friday as it’s my first night out in months (though knowing my luck, I’ll probably get my peak that morning)
Not sure exactly but I started taking folic acid as soon as I stopped the pill. I agree it’s a bit of grey area coming off the pill. I think most of us just assume things will go back to normal straight away. Especially since they always make such a big deal when you miss a pill that you could be pregnant etc. I thought it would be so easy to conceive once you stop...Back from the shops with some of the pregnacare preconception vitamins, a load of boots pregnancy tests and a couple of the pricey clearblue weeks ones.
Absolute sod’s law that in the past if I ever missed 2 pills in a row my withdrawal bleed would come the morning after the second missed pill like clockwork (even mid cycle) but now I have actually stopped taking it, it’s not here on time! Just want to get it out the way so I can start looking at when I get a real cycle back.
Does anyone know if it is worth trying the meantime whilst I wait for withdrawal bleed or is it not physically possible to become pregnant then? I can’t find much info online about the bit of time after you stop the pill.
Thank you so much for sharing your story. I’ve dipped in and out of these threads but found them quite triggering - a mixture of anger and anxiety - and not really identified with anyone posting.Had a little break but need to share with someone. Had our appointment with the fertility clinic this week and got told that our only hope of a pregnancy based on my age and my partners test results (which is ironic as he already two kids which were conceived naturally and quickly) is to have IVF. Was a bit of a blow to be honest, we knew it was a possibility but was quite hard to hear. Not sure it’s even an option for us, would be self funded and the chances of a successful pregnancy are under 10%, if we wait even longer that’ll drop even more. They also reckon we’ll possibly need 2-3 cycles, so need to have £15k available, not sure that’s an option for us
I just feel so sad. I’m an only child and I just always assumed I’d have a baby at some point, my Mum had me at 41 so I’ve always been quite blasé about it
My partner doesn’t seem to get why I’m so upset, he’s always been happy enough to have another child but he just doesn’t seem to get why I’m so bothered by it...we argued the other night and he suggested I’d best ‘go and find myself someone that isn’t a jaffa’ that’s not even a consideration for me but would just like him to realise how difficult I’m finding this
All are welcome hereHey guys! Hope it is okay if I join this thread?!![]()
Im having a lot of tears tonight. My period is so painful, my son is off to his Nanny’s for a week as I’m on nights. I’m just really feeling sorry for myself and I feel as if I have no one to talk to.Thank you, I will. It is a lovely community, ttc is such a lonely time. I really wish it was easier to speak about in person![]()
