I used to be a phlebotomist before I did my nurse training, I was taking an old ladys blood one day like, just generally chatting away when she told me to watch my car keys (I had managed to lock them in the boot of my car the previous weekend) she also told me work head and I would get my PIN ( I was soon to leave my job to do my nurse training and when you qualify your given a pin number), she also said to stick with my new relationship as he was a good one (I was in a fairly new relationship, 10 years later we're married) she knew none of these things about me and literally reeled them off as I was taking her blood, amazing 💕

My boyfriend had been seeing a child ghost for a while in our house. We rent his brothers house from him but prior to his brother buying the house there was a family who lived there with a young girl who had cancer and sadly died, they sold the house not long after.
She died in the hospital but her last home was ours

At first my OH thought it was a young boy but after hearing who lived there previously he found a photo on Facebook of the girl who had lost her hair due to chemo (would explain why he assumed boy in the dark with the short hair) he said he could usually see her staring into our room if he woke up or if the door was shut he'd hear her outside the bedroom as well as downstairs he'd hear the footsteps
I've heard the footsteps downstairs but never seen her or heard her upstairs

The last 4 months it seems to have stopped, his 16 year old son has just moved in with us and is using the second big room (I think this was her brothers) we're also expecting a baby next month and have been clearing out the small 3rd room which is going to be a nursery - his brother pretty much left the house furnished for us as he moved in with his girlfriend so he didn't need any of it and the small room had his daughters (my OH's nieces) stuff in - who was around the same age as the girl who passed away. A typical girls room, pink and full of dolls and so on

It's stopped since we did all of this, so I wonder if she thought it was her room and was watching us looking for her parents? Now that room is empty
Maybe realized the boy in her brothers bedroom wasn't her brother

Who knows but it is very sad and scary

Oh my God I hope you post more on that as I'm fascinated. Saying that I would be terrified if that had happened to me however. And that your son still sees him but only at school how does he react to it? Does it scare him?
He's not scared of him at all!! The name he calls him is quite an old name as well so not sure how he would have known that at such a young age.

He's told children at school about him and tried to show them. I got called in to our usual meeting by a very flustered senco who told us a lot of the stuff my son had told me at home 😂

I'm currently in the process of pacjing so when I come across his pics I'll put them up! I've kept every single one.

He has blamed his "friend" for some pretty nasty stuff though. Like when he's hurt his siblings, pet rabbit or the dogs. Says he told him to do it. But on the whole it doesn't seem like a nasty "being"

Still gives me goosebumps though 😂😂😂

(I'm on and off here quite a bit, but this thread is by far my fave at the mo! When mum life doesn't get in the way I'll be back -but thanks to all who said they were interested! I have no idea how to multi quote to reply to each of you 😂)

Following on from the conspiracy theories thread, has anyone got any true ghost/paranormal stories they have encountered?

I don't want this thread to turn into a debate on if they are real or not, but if anyone has had any experiences I'd love to hear them

Really enjoyed reading this thread and thought I’d share my experiences ❤
We used to have a lot of unexplained activity at our old house. Not an old building - the house was built in the early 70’s (that’s me trying to convince myself that the early 70’s isn’t old 😜). When my eldest was weaning, she would lean right over in her high chair and look round me into the hallway and smile. I never really thought much of it until she was a toddler. She was very happily playing on her rocking horse - facing out into the hall when all of a sudden she jumped off, ran and hid behind the sofa and pointed out saying, ‘man! Man!’ There was nobody there. When she was a little older I was chatting to my mum on the phone when all of a sudden my girl interrupted and said, ‘Mummy, the man is behind you and wants to say hello’ 😳 I duly turned to around to nothing and said hello because I didn’t want to scare my daughter but my mum on the end of the phone was in a right state because it made her blood run cold! My daughter never really said anything more, I’m guessing she grew out of it but weird things always happen in or around the hallway. A picture flew of the wall and shattered - the nail intact in the wall,; the string at the back of said picture - unbroken. A toy music box left on a pile of stuff waiting to go upstairs, randomly started playing one evening. The door would knock and there was nobody there - on a few occasions coming home from work late at night, my husband would be standing in the the doorway because he’d heard me knock…when I was still coming home. I’d had a friend over who heard the door handle rattle and yet the door never opened. The worst thing was we had friends over one evening and while zoned out watching TV we all saw a person like shadow come down the stairs, throughout the hall and into the kitchen. There was no one there. I had a friend who walked her dog past my house one evening while we were out and she asked who was babysitting. No one was in the house - we had gone out as a family- and yet my friend said she could clearly see the shape of a person, stood in my kitchen through the nets at the window 😳 There’s a few more occurrences but we left the house a few years ago now and so far, never experienced anything since moving to our new home!

So sorry for your loss x i do think sometimes there are little signs from those we lose x
A friends 3 year old died from a childhood cancer and loved dragonflies. There was an slot on This Morning a few years back about this and I went into my kitchen and there was a massive dragonfly in there. Probably just coincidence but it was quite poignant that it appeared x

Few years back the day after boxing day i was talking about my grandad as it would have been his 100 birthday and as I glanced out the window a massive white feather fell from the sky.
Totally agree, my grandma died suddenly and on my way back home after the funeral (in a foreign country whereI lived at the time) I saw graffiti of her name written on a wall.. it was a name that didn't exist where I was so it was really random), and then about a week later i was at home and suddenly vividly smelt her perfume (no idea which perfume she wore). I had been very upset because of the unexpectedness of her death, but it gave me a sense of piece

My neighbour’s son in law had mental health issues and he was always very down. His marriage ended badly but he still stayed friendly with my neighbour.

During one conversation she told him she just wanted to see him able to smile. Shortly after, he hanged himself.

She tells me she went to his home soon after the funeral, to check it was ok and pick up a few items he’d borrowed. She swears she saw him in his hallway with his back to her. He turned to her, smiled and disappeared.

I thought I'd add a couple more stories from my cinema days. Now I want to stress that these stories didn't happen to me, they were told to me by my then manager who worked in a number of cinemas. Ghost enthusiast's know that theatres and cinemas usually hold a lot of ghostly activity.

My manager told me a story about a cinema she worked at in the early 90s and it was again during a closing shift. This was around 2am and the building was empty apart from the staff who were all in the staff room waiting for their cabs to take them home. Suddenly an echoing, shrill scream came from all around them, it was a womans scream and it was so loud it made them jump out of their skin. My boss said it seemed to come from everywhere, right next to them but all around the building at the same time. They scarpered and waited for the cabs outside!

Another notorious cinema story I was told actually still gives me goosebumps. This happened to one of projection workers again in a previous cinema he had worked at.
He was up in the projection box shutting down, again late at night, and he looked down at the screen and could see a man sitting in the front seat with his back to him. The projection worker radioed down to the manager who was on the foyer to say that there was still a customer in one of the screens that hadn't left (he assumed it was a customer as he wasn't wearing staff uniform) When he got no response from the manager, he went downstairs himself to try and get rid of this customer. When he walked into the screen to confront the customer, there was no one there. Baffled he looked about but it was completely empty in the screen. He then said he caught a movement from the projection box up above. Right where he was just standing 5 minutes previously, was the same man he had seen this time looking down at him..... the projection worker screamed the place down and ran out and refused to go back up to projection. That story gave me nightmares when I first heard it!

I have no idea whether they are true, but there were so many ghost stories from the cinema and cinema workers.

At the cinema I worked at, screen 5 was the worst. No one wanted to go in there. It had a very oppressive atmosphere and you constantly felt like you were being watched. The cinema itself was built on a very old department store so it was steeped in history.

We have what I’ve not thought of as a “ghost” at home (140 yr old house) more the house’s memory. Thinking someone has walked into the kitchen out of the corner of your eye (through the old back door) or the sound of plates etc being moved in the kitchen. It doesn’t bother us. However I’ve had flooring put down these last 2 days & the blokes doing it we’re terrified. They saw someone walk through the door, a box shelf fell off the wall on to one of them, a book fell of the top shelf & slammed on the floor when they were on the other side of the room. I told them the ghost mustn’t like them 😂
Comforting to know who/whatever we see & hear likes us though. Just not tradespeople 🙈

Read half of this thread and gone down a rabbit hole trying to discover who lived in my family home before with no luck.

I’ll share. We moved into our family house in about 2006 when I was a little girl with my mum, dad and three siblings. Never experienced anything, never believed in anything. It’s the oldest house on the street and guaranteed 100s of people would’ve died here over the centuries. As we got older we all swapped rooms as teenagers do. When I was 15 I had just moved into my brothers old room. I woke up suddenly in the middle of the night and saw a young man standing next to the bed smiling at me. He was wearing a 1970s style outfit and had floppy hair. His presence was really calming but I shit myself and hid under the covers anyway. I came out of the covers a couple of minutes later and he was still there. He smiled at me and slowly faded away as I stared at him. Could’ve very well been my brain playing tricks on me while I was half asleep but it’s never happened before and has never happened again. My mums brother died in the late 70s when he was only 21 and I had a gut feeling that it might have been him just saying hello, but I’ve never seen any pictures of him grown up.

After that I still wasn’t convinced and went back to being a skeptic. Never experienced anything again until I moved into my last uni flat. It was an old building broken up into four flats in a big city literally bang in the city centre. The rent was extremely cheap for a two bed flat in that location but I assumed it was due to the noise as the whole street was bars and restaurants. I felt uncomfortable for the first week but I put it down to my flatmate not being there as she arrived to the city a week after. I felt a presence around me that I couldn’t explain. My ex boyfriend came to visit me one day and as we were getting intimate in bed I suddenly felt a wave of horror and shame and burst into tears (I have never felt that feeling since, it was utterly bizarre), he was in absolute shock bless him lol. My flatmate arrived the next week and felt something off instantly without me mentioning the presence. Things started happening that we couldn’t explain like the kettle flicking on and off even though it was turned off at the wall, drafts of freezing cold even though we were at the top of the building, slamming cupboards and thudding footsteps in the night. Our keys would go missing and seriously stress us out making us late for work or uni and then appear in the first place we looked miraculously. The bathroom was particularly eerie, I always felt as if I was being watched. One day I was at uni and came home to find my flatmate glued to her bed with her bedroom door shut, she told me she had heard old fashioned music coming from the bathroom and it was blaring on and off. We ended up sharing a bed and sitting with each other in the bathroom for the first few months we lived there as we were petrified. One weekend she went to see her family and I was so scared to leave my room at night I ended up peeing in a bottle!! After a while we both accepted that there was something in the flat and we just had to put up with so every time something happened we decided to speak to it and say things like ‘not today please!’ Or ‘stop it now you’re being silly’ lol. It responded well to that and ended up leaving us alone towards the end of the lease. We agreed that the presence to us felt like a naughty child, pushing the boundaries to see what it could get away with. I woke up one morning to it screaming in both my ears so loudly but I was so fed up by that point I just said go away and went back to sleep 😂

I’m not so skeptical anymore.

It surprises my how skeptics think paranormal doesn't exist. Just because they do not see it they think it doesn't exist. Can your see microwaves? Can you see radio waves? No, and they both exist.

Just thought of one

my ex got married to a lady who already had two girls

they really wanted a baby of their own (they didnt really care about the sex but if there had been a chance they would have liked a boy)

two years had passed when for some reason he got a chance to have a reading done

she told him there was a little baby wrapped up in his nannas arms and the blanket was blue

she wasn’t ready to let him go just yet but she would one day and baby would be his last-but not his wife-she would have more children

he pooh poohed the whole thing and moved on with life

two more years pass-no joy

they had all the tests-neither where to ‘blame’

they where just about to give up when she got pregnant

with a boy

a few years later they got divorced, she fell pregnant again and had another one

the little boy aged about five told him one day that he loved living with his nanny but she told him the she had to go live with his parents but she’d make sure he was ok-he fell asleep and when he woke up he was with mummy and daddy and that she still came to see him

my ex is still spooked by it all to this day

I was standing on one of those folding steps.I have had it 13 years since my kitchen was installed. I use to reach high places in particular the cupboard above built in double oven. It collapsed in on itself but I didn’t fall or hurt myself. I have bruised arms, either side, inner bingo wing, like finger prints, as if I was held up or caught, which is what it felt like.

I’m no way a psychic but I often see or feel things that are going to happen. The last two have been spot on. I had the most calming feeling that my SIL was going to fall pregnant in the October and she did and then I could see them standing outside of a three story house by June. They are moving into the exact house this month that I could picture them outside of. Both were bang on and totally unplanned for them. I can also see a little girl with them (they have boys) so we will see about that one.

I work in a hospital and our office is on a disused older peoples ward in a really old building. Apart from our team, no one is there outside the house of 9-5 and we’re there 7-7. I’ve heard reports of creepy going’s on up there such as people hearing their names being called. I was leaving the office a few weeks ago and glanced down the corridor to see something black dart into a room. My physical reaction (heart pounding, shaking) told me it wasn’t just my eyes playing tricks on me.

This morning, the cleaner came to show me a photograph she’s been sent by one of the porters. He’d been asked to attend the ward as someone had reported a light being on. He captured a photo of a black figure which was in the same place I’d seen something. He took it at 2 minutes to midnight.

When everyone left at 5 this evening, I was was hearing doors close and the doorbell ringing. I was too scared to leave the office to see if anyone was there! Not looking forward to my next shift there!

Bear with me here! My grandad (mums dad) passed away when I was 16. My sister would have been 19. At the time although she could drive she didn’t have her own car and was insured to drive my dads car. She used to get the train to work which was a bit of a pain as there was only one train an hour to where she worked.
so understandably my mum took some time off work after my grandad passed away and while she was off work, my dad would drive my mums car to work so my sister could take my dads car. I’d say this was a month or so after he died. My mum had every intention of staying off work for longer and my sister planned to drive my dads car to work, but one morning she decided very spare of the moment that she would go to work so this meant my sister got the train and couldn’t drive my dads car. That very morning when my dad was going to work the steering went on the car and went veering off into the pavement and he narrowly missed a bus stop full of schoolkids waiting to get the bus to school! It’s only because my dad is an experienced driver he could gain control! If my sister had been driving that car god knows what would have happened.
perhaps it was coincidence but my mum was so adamant she wouldn’t be going to work then suddenly to change her mind like something was subconsciously telling her my sister couldn’t drive that car! We like to think it was my grandad looking out for her!

i just discovered this thread on the way home tonight ...glad i wasnt on my own late at night..some of them are chilling.
heres my one ...........
when i was pregnant with my youngest daughter i had a difficult pregnancy and experiencing terrible pains i thought i was going to loose her...i had an ovarian cyst which whem scanned was bigger than her...i had to be operated on to have removed and there was a high risk of miscarriage. luckily we came through it and she was ok but tiny. on my way to work in the morning throughout this time and throughout the rest of my pregnancy i would always pass a policeman going in the opposite direction in the same back road.
nothing unusual about that as it was in London near St pauls and police were often about apart from this one wore a strange uniform ...its what made me notice him in the first place...assuming he was just another of Londons eccentrics or maybe a tour guide - he wore a Cape with polished buttons and numbers and an old fashioned style helmet he made me smile everytime i saw him , there was something so calming about him. he could of course have been on his way to work at the same time as me but even if i was late there he woùld be !

Years before this is saw pretty accurate clairvoyant who said i had a guardian in the spirit world who was a man in uniform ....i had always assumed this was my Grandad as we wore a uniform in his job but i do wonder if he was really perhaps he was this policeman!

I've had many experiences in childhood. Not so many now I am an adult - although I get a lot of Deja Vue at places even though I've never been (and I often dream things weeks/months before they happen).

I used to see ghosts a lot as a child when we lived in a haunted public house in Devon. I've seen grandparents who have passed and sensed them with me.

My Nan caught me levitating at about 14years old when I was staying in her bed (I'd gone to sleep angry after a row with my sister).

I saw a clairvoyant back in 2009 after suffering 2 miscarriages. She told me that I had lost 2 babies and she saw 2 more in my future (a girl and a boy). I went on to have a daughter in 2010 and a son in 2012.

I believe our eldest daughter is a reincarnation of my mother in law who I never met and passed away when my husband was 17. Our youngest looked like his great grandad when he was born. Son's middle name is his great grandfathers' first name and I was put in a ward opposite the intensive care ward where he passed - I swear he was there.

Some great ghost stories here. I've been waiting to find a thread about this on here. For many years I was part of a team that investigate haunted buildings. We were a team of six and well balanced between the believers and non-believers. I am a believer and have had a fair share of spooky experiences over the years and as someone who investigates such things I often get asked what is the scariest thing to happen.

We were told by another team about a location on the south side of Edinburgh. It was an underground series of tunnels - although not part of the Edinburgh Vaults. I used to do the history research for the team and it was such a strange place with some really dark stuff having gone on in the past. When we arrived I was amazed that the staff basically said that they weren't going to be hanging around - normally there is a member of staff stay on site for H&S reasons but in this case they couldn't get away quick enough. They left us a key and told us to lock up before we left.

The investigation progressed as usual, walkarounds, listening to what the psychic could pick up and so on and we decided to stick together for a bit as it wasn't a very big place. One of the caves many uses had been as a bar and there was these booths carved out of stone so we sat at one of them and it was at the very back of the caves. There was one way in and one way out which was down a set of metal steps. It wasn't the most thrilling of investigations up until that point and I was beginning to get a bit bored being honest. The place was said to be linked to the Knights Templar and we were having a discussion about it when suddenly something rushed at us. You could hear the footsteps crashing down the metal steps and along the cave at such a great speed and it stopped just behind me. I went into full Yvette Fielding mode and actually ended up on top of the rest of the team and if I could have crashed through the wall to get out I would have. The person opposite me said that it was a dark figure.

I was thrown for the rest of the night and if I could have I would have just left. I don't think I've ever been so frightened in all the years I have done this and I still don't really know why it scared me so much, I don't know if it was the speed of it happening or what, I don't know. Even thinking logically I can't think of what it could have been. We were underground and could hear traffic above us at certain times but it hadn't been like that and it certainly wasn't rigged by the location as I'm sure it would have flagged up from other teams that we were all getting the same thing. It was such a talking point within the team when we were next in the area we decided to face our demons as it were and go back for a tour during the day. I got as far as those metal steps and had to walk away. Next time I won't be so lucky - we have decided to go back post lockdown for round 2.
