Salute a single magpie, don’t walk over three drains, yes to the shoes and purse, peacock items as a wedding present is bad luck.
Thanks to my mum and grandma for all this batshit stuff 😂😂
I salute to a magpie every time 🫡🤣 even if it's on the sly 🤣
Used to be terrible for never walking over 3 drains but I've got over that one!

Does anyone else see people who are suddenly not there anymore?
I can remember walking my dogs on a path through the middle of a paddock and there was a man in his fifties walking in front of me (probably about 10m away). I glanced down at the dogs and looked back up and he was gone! There was nowhere for him to go! He was in the middle of an open field!
Another time I was walking past a school field with high corrugated iron fencing and saw a man dressed very 70s go through the open gate. He looked really out of place so I looked in when I went past and the field was empty. Nowhere for him to hide and no other exits

The new shoes one was my mum, dear god she would go nuts over that !

Its now me with saluting magpies 🙈
Aghhhhhh Magpies. My kids hate me as I always have to salute them and say ‘Good day to you G’vnor’ and if there is another there I add ‘and to your missus too’! If I don’t do it, I get the terrible fear that something bad will happen 😬
Don’t whistle at night as it attracts spirits 👻
Also new shoes on table ✅ 👠👟
Purses and handbags always have to have a little gift of money inside for luck ✅💵💵💵
Break a mirror = 7 yrs bad luck ✅
But it can be reversed by knocking on wood twice! 🪵👱🏼
Never walk under a ladder ✅
If a black cat crosses your path you have to restart your journey 🐈⬛

Thanks Mum for leaving me with these weird quirks as your legacy 😂

My grandmother always said to not whistle indoors as it would bring bad luck - I say it to my children today! Also don't put new shoes on the table, my husband did once... a week later my mum died (and she hadn't been ill until mid week after the shoes)!
My grandmother was full of old superstitions and old wives tales, many of which I still follow! She would have been 110 if still alive.

My mum now has a superstition about covering people's photos!
she once covered a picture of her dad in a frame and put a picture of her Jack Russel over the top because she had no spare frames. The next day her dad died...

I always thought a black cat crossing your path was lucky !
I love black cats
Saw a single magpie on the school run this morning , of course gave a 🫡 and a "Hello Mr Magpie how's your wife " , will now spend the entire day on the lookout for Mr Magpies wife 🙈
This post had me realising the 🫡 emoji is a salute and not some kind of fool head emoji 😅🫣

YES! This reminds me of one of the few times I am sure I saw a ghost of some description.

It happened about six or seven years ago, when I was working in Warwick. It was a Friday morning, about 08:30, and I was walking up the fairly steep hill from where I parked to my office. I did this walk every day so was pretty au fait with how quiet the street was at that time of a morning (although the shops - a hardware store and off licence - that lined the route were open).

Ahead of me I saw two little old ladies walking very slowly up the hill. Both were short and wearing grey macs, and one of them was so stooped she looked headless from afar. I quickly walked round them and noticed one of them was wearing a plastic headscarf (this struck me as odd as it seemed old fashioned and very uncommon for a pensioner in Warwickshire).

After passing them and walking on for about five seconds, something made me look back and they were completely gone. Thin air.

At the point I passed them, the shop to our left was a chip shop, which didn't open until the afternoon. I looked to the other side of the road and they hadn't somehow managed to sprint across. They'd just vanished.

Really odd, although the weirdness of what I'd (not) seen didn't strike me until I got home that night. To this day I am sure I saw something off.

I saw something similar a few years ago - a woman walking into and going right through a steep, grassy hill by the side of a main road. No footpaths or houses for miles and she also looked very out of place, like she was from the 60s or 70s judging by her clothes and hairstyle. She walked about two steps up the hill and then suddenly disappeared into the vertical part of the solid grass bank. It was daylight as well, around 4pm, which I’ve always found even more unsettling because how many apparitions have we passed by in daylight and not even noticed??

A few weeks ago I was a passenger in a car driving past a car transporter with a very badly damaged car on the back. A write-off, I’m sure. We passed it very close and quite slowly and it really, really looked to me like there were two very white hands on the car’s steering wheel. Just hands. No arms, no person 😳.

My car was recovered once (minor bump bent suspension) The driver and I were chatting about jobs whilst we waited on my Dad coming to get me. He told me that not many last long in his line of work as often in bad accidents the deceased are left in the vehicles and transported elsewhere. I don’t know how much truth is in this but it’s always stuck in my head when padding mangled covered cars on recovery trucks!!!

your post made me think of this 💀

Or they entered a time-slip and wound up in our time. 🤔
I don’t know if they happen, but I find the idea of time-slips really interesting

Talking of time-slips, I was in a pub around 3 years ago with my ex. It was around 9:40pm when we got there because we’d had dinner (booked for 8pm), had just gotten a taxi (booked for 9:30pm) to the pub, and had ordered our first drinks. It was midsummer and still bright when we left the taxi. We’d just sat down in the pub, and my ex said that around 10:30pm, we might head down the road to another pub. Still not having touched our first drinks - so neither of us were even tipsy yet - I looked at my watch then and it was suddenly 11:50pm! The barman started calling time and we were absolutely shocked. My ex said it had happened to him before in that same area of town, and we still talk about it. Weirdest experience ever!

Time slips, this has brought back a memory from many years ago. I was on a weekend away on Anglesey with the then boyfriend and his son. We stayed in b + b in an old cottage. The son was in the next bedroom and ours was next door accessed through his room. I needed the bathroom during the night, crept through the sons room so not to wake him. On coming back he was still asleep, I opened our door to see a different room with a strange man in the bed, he turned around and looked at me. I shut the door quickly, turned to still see the boy in his bed. I couldn't have just tried the wrong room, it was the only one through the boys room. I peeped through the door again and all was as it should be. No drink had been in play, we'd just played board games with the owner and her children. I mentioned this at breakfast and the owner just smiled, saying 'it happens sometimes.'

We've discussed Bold Street before and I totally agree with you. It used to be very eerie IMO especially the further up you got. It always seemed at odds with the rest of town. I've just been reading it is a rope walk. Rope for ships was manufactured there. The length of a rope for the ships is the length of the street (or it was) when it was laid out.

I'm going back a few years. Haven't been in Bold Street for many years and I believe it's all restaurants and bars now. I can't imagine how many ghosts and spirits are in that area and the docks.
