Speaking of sleep paralysis and night hags, this painting will forever haunt me 😬

My husband, who is a total non believer in all things supernatural/paranormal, told me that many years before we meet, he was asleep on a friend's sofa and knew he was awake but was totally paralysed and felt an evil presence near him. He 100 per cent said he was awake. When I mentioned sleep paralysis he said maybe but it's the mind and nothing else. If a ghost came up to him and slapped him around the face he still wouldn't believe in them. 🤣

The evil old woman is quite common for sleep paralysis as well I think 🤔

I LOVE Uncanny, the podcast is amazing and I really enjoyed the TV show. I was #TeamBeliever on the first 2 cases (and in real life in general) but I'm #TeamSkeptic on case 3... it just doesn't ring true. I think it's a case of 'folie a trois' wih Heather being the main instigator.

I wish Danny had pressed Toddy on what he meant by 'the unholy trinity'. (Personally I think they were all having a threesome but because of their religious background they felt IMMENSE Catholic guilt, and that added to the whole situation)

Anyone ever seen the ‘hat man’?
I was 14 had never heard of him/it btw. I woke up freezing in the early hours and tried to pull my quilt up to my chin and I couldn’t because there was a weight at the end of my bed, so I look over and see the darkest, blackest silhouette of a man that I could only describe wearing a Stetson hat sitting on the end of my bed!

I shut my eyes until I heard my neighbour start his motorbike at 6am then ran out the room!
Never saw him again, thankfully.
My family encountered many strange things in this house but I was the only one that saw hat man. Then years later I read that other people have experienced/seen him. Sleep paralysis? I hope so. But I could move so I just don’t know.

sorry eta it was the tarot talk that prompted me to post. I used to sit on this same bed doing the cards…
Yes. It’s just sleep paralysis but can be damn scary

Not a Ghost story, but popped on here to say I thought uncanny was really good. However at the moment I'm really enjoying Mark Adam explores on You Tube He's an urban explorer who also does abit of paranormal investigatjng. Some of his paranormal videos are excellent, with interesting results. I used to love Most Haunted but it got awful towards the end and all you saw was Yvette or Karl on camera instead of any activity.
So if anyone wants to get scared on Halloween I'd recommend watching a few of his videos where he does his investigations because some of them scared me! Happy Halloween for tomorrow 🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃

Ps thanks for the recommendations for the witch podcasts. Love this thread x

I like The Ouija Brothers on YouTube. They seem to have a good reputation for being truthful and authentic.

I had sleep paralysis once and also saw hat man in the corner of the room. And what I can describe as some sort of evil old witch pushing down on my chest and her hand over my mouth when I tried to get up.
I was scared of sleeping for months.
this is what I've found so odd. I've experienced both at the same time only the cackling witch just "felt" evil. strange it's a common experience!

I’m really enjoying uncanny as well. I loved the podcast and am enjoying the programme. I like the fact that they look at things from all angles
Although I think the woman claiming she was the girl in the time slip story was a buller as why would you run off if someone said to you did you see that as well. Surely you would stop and talk about it. Urban myth I think.

Does anyone remember when Most Haunted had “psychic-artist” Brian Shepherd on? So bad he was hilarious 🤣

Most Haunted lost it big time once they got rid of Derek in all honestly. He may have been 'exposed' but he was good TV.

I see Uncanny are using Ciaran O'Keeffe as their resident sceptic too.

Years ago I was on holiday with my daughter. I’d put her to bed and sat outside at the patio table. It was one long patio with no walls so you could see neighbours. I’d been chatting with next door for a few nights and the man there asked me if he could say something sensitive. He told me he could see someone watching over me, I asked too many questions but decided it was my Nan.

About 10 years later we were away in York and in a beer garden chatting to a local. He told me the same but I kept all info to myself. He said someone was taking care of me, and wanted to know that I was ok. Half an hour later he blurted out ‘it’s your Dads Mum’. My Nan.

I’ve got another weird experience

during the pandemic I was seconded into a nursing home for a month. Residents were still dying but not at the rate they were at the beginning. Anyway I worked nights on the Dementia Care floor. Every so often the panic alert in the day room would activate. Nobody was ever down there, I know because as a senior member of staff I would be responsible for knowing where staff were. All doors and lifts had security codes on them so residents couldn’t just wander down 2 floors or access the day room by themselves. One of us had to go down and deactivate it and no one ever wanted to go. I used to go down because it meant I could nip out for a quick smoke and nobody would mind as long as they didn’t have to go 🤣. It used to coincide with someone passing away within a day, but people were going all the time so it might’ve just been coincidence. No fault on the alarm system. It was checked multiple times

Because we live in an end of terrace new build certain times of day I can hear distant footsteps that I think is next door upstairs, and the house creaks sometimes. No problems there. But tonight I was talking to my boyfriend in the downstairs toilet and I definitely felt and heard the creak of the landing directly above in this house as if someone was walking along it. For some reason tonight (probs because last night was Halloween and I’m twitchy haha) its really spooked me, and I checked all the rooms upstairs straight away 😣

Super interested to read about people's experiences with 'Hat Man,' it reminds me of a super scary book called 'Heart Shaped Box,' written by Stephen Kings son (cannot for the life of me remember his name!!!) wondering if the main character was based upon this!

A Liverpool ghost writer actually wrote about this incident and interview the lady and the gentleman when it first happened. However he said that the woman who he interviewed years ago wasn’t the same woman who was interviewed on Uncanny. So she may have had a seperate experience.

That particular street (Bold Street) is notorious for time slips and has had LOTS of reports. Personally when I walk through there there is something that feels strange.
