I’ve mentioned the place we live in before on these threads, pretty sure we have a spirit living among us. A month or so ago I was laid in bed ready to fall asleep and I distinctly heard a female voice calling my name. I heard my name twice. Mentioned it to my husband, he was still in the living room, but isn’t really a believer so he shrugged it off. I pretty much forgot about it after.
Last night I was the first in bed again, and he sent me a message asking what was wrong with the dog. I said nothing, why? He said he could hear me talking to the dog. The dog was fast asleep and I hadn’t been taking to him 😂
Funny, because just now the dog has been sat in the hallway growling and whining 🙈

I've also used what you could call a DIY version when I was a teenager, my friend drew one on the back of a bit of flat wood, we didn't take it seriously at all and we're probably drunk tbh 😂

If you had a bad experience I don't blame you for trying to put it to the back of your mind, it's things like that which make me think it's not such a great idea
---

Oh my goodness, both if your experience sound crazy! I've never done it seriously, just as joking around as a teenager and it couldn't have achieved much because I think I'd remember if it did. It's so perplexing to me as it was created in the 1960's, by Hasbro, as a family 'game', they used the board to ask it what it was called and it replied "ouija". It's that which makes me think it would be ok to try, but on the other hand the stories from people like yourself are so spooky I don't know if I'm brave enough
---

The Salem witch trials were caused by the Scottish witch trials (the Scottish trials spread to England, and then the USA), it was settlers who migrated to the US from the UK who were involved. The impact from the Scottish trials was so widespread, and when I found out just how horrific it was I was in shock, I had no idea. Obviously I'd heard of Salem but didn't know it was very religious, Christian settlers from the UK.
---

This is what frightens me, the fact that something could pretend to be someone it's not. And I've read, and seen videos about, people getting "attachments" from using the boards. I use a pendulum, not for contacting spirits but to ask questions, and I also use tarot, but I don't know if Ouija is taking it a step too far. I bought a spell to use at Halloween as that the day if the year the veil between our world and the spirit world is at its thinnest, but I don't know if I'm messing with stuff I really should leave well alone. Your mum sounds very smart, and that she picked up that something was going on and stopped you is amazing, do you think you've inherited any of her spirituality in that sense?
---

Same, I really want to but knowing me I'd end up with a hoard of ghosts in my house, I already believe there's a spirit if a man in his early 60's, I sense him at night every time I walk into the kitchen, I can even see what he looks like in my minds eye but I've asked him to respect that we live here now and are looking after the house and told him he can stay as long as 1. He doesn't cause any bother and 2. He doesn't show himself to my daughter. From the day we moved here she said there is a man in the attic, when we bought the house we hadn't seen inside it but when we eventually got up there we found it was all floored and carpeted, there's was beer cans from the 70's and 80's, and just lots of bits and bobs which made it obvious someone used to sit up there.

I'd like to contact him but that pretty much asking for it 😂
---

You should write down any letters it lands on as you never know! Your cat might be channel a message to you from the other side! 😂
---

Wow... That would really freak me out... it's the not knowing who, or what, is responding, whether it's good, bad, a person you knew or a malevolent spirit.
Every time I've done the Ouija board it's been one we've made ourselves and a glass. We used to use Kan U Go cards at school plus a bit of paper with 'yes' on and another one with 'no'; the other times we just cut up bits of paper and wrote the alphabet, and yes and no on them.

When I was at school my friends and I used to do this.

I don’t remember much about it but we’d get one of us, say Tracey, not to touch the glass and ask questions like “what is Tracey’s gran’s middle name” stuff the rest of us wouldn’t know…and the answers were always right.

I like to think your cat laugh-reacted this. 😂

That's a very good suggestion! I might try it, if I'm brave enough. I can just imagine it..."what's that you say? I should feed the cats more dreamies??" 😂

I used to make ouija boards when I used to do a bit of resin work. I’ve also cross stitched them as bespoke orders for people, and made them using my cricut. You’d be surprised at how many people collect them. I currently have one purely for decoration from Temu because I just love them but I’ve not been tempted to see if it works 🤣🤣

I used to live in a house that was a bit crazy. I’ll definitely post some of my stories here

I've been tempted to collect them, even though I'm scared to use the one I have. 😂 Tarot & oracle cards though, no problem. I have 15 different decks and have never been worried about using those.

I’ve got a new one. It could be nothing but I thought I’d share….
Two weeks ago I stayed in a modern hotel in a major uk city. It’s part of a chain, one of those which are know frills but you know precisely what you are getting. I was on the top floor, no rooms above.
a few times in the evening I heard what sounded like someone trying my door handle. I wasn’t too concerned, the door was double locked and I decided it was most likely a mistake.
in the middle of the night I was woken by heavy footsteps on the floor above me. I led there for a while wondering what my fellow guest was pacing about for…before remembering there was no floor above me.
however, I’ve always had an overactive imagination and I decided that anyone more sensible than me would come up with a very rational explanation.
this week I stayed there again- but not on the top floor- however the (very serious and sensible) director of my company was on the top floor. I asked him afterwards how he found his stay and he said it was fine other than the sound of someone trying his door and the footsteps above in the night!
Long shot but I’ve deliberately not said where this was- I’d LOVE if anyone reading thinks they know where I’m talking about……..

I’ve always used Tarot and collect them. I only use one deck though, the same ones I’ve used for 30+ years. I just love the symbolism of them.

I have them! How do you use them? I have Kyle gray ones
I usually ask a question and then deal them into whatever variation I'm after at that particular moment ie: Mind - Body - Soul... I'll lay out one card for each and then the card reflects each one, or there are set layouts you can do like the celtic cross. There's a ton of stuff online, or your sets usually come with a wee book with some example layouts.

So……
I I’ve had a few odd experiences. I’ll post a few here
When we moved into our family home and started decorating as you do, light bulbs used to shoot out of their fittings and we’d hear walking about upstairs or bangs like something had fallen. No one was up there. It would go quiet for months like energy was building up and then all hell would break loose. One time a dog toy was thrown down the hallway and another time all the kitchen drawers opened by themselves. We were there for 20 years as a family but we never quite felt welcome. The man and his wife who lived there before us was the first tenant in there and was there for 40 odd years until first his wife and then him passed away and then we moved in.
My brother once saw a man in his bedroom who walked across the room and leant over him and stared at him in bed. I moved into that bedroom years later and saw a man walk across the room and stare down at where my brothers bed used to be.
In the end we just got used to all the goings on and used to be sarcastic to it and say “yeah, very impressive” 🤣 I don’t live there anymore but I’d love to know if the new people have experienced anything

I can change my total to 16 now. I had another set delivered yesterday 😂 I do tend to stick to the same couple of sets for reading to be honest as they seem to make the most sense to me. Some of the others though are like works of art & beautiful to look at. There is one deck I've seen that are circus themed that I've always fancied but last time I looked they were a bit pricey & I couldn't find anything like them on Ali express (don't judge!) ;)😂

Edit to add. No matter how many decks I have, I'm still a bit tit at reading them, but I stick at it....

Oohh how spooky I’ve just favourited a tarot deck after going back and forward about getting some. Does anyone have the everyday witch set? I’ve never dabbled in tarot before but these stuck out to me for some reason. Or does it even matter what kind you get?

Not yet but I want it! 😍 How you feel about the deck itself is very important IMO and it’s a very personal thing, so everyone will have different ideas, feelings, etc., about different decks. The Rider-Waite deck is a great one to begin with though and there’s a great history connected to it.

For me it's always been just whatever I've been drawn to. It doesn't matter what 'kind' it is. If it makes me feel something on a deeper level I'll get it. I have a few tarot sets and a few oracle sets now. Plus a lovely 'card of the day' set. I don't read that often but I want to get more into it. My friend, who is my reiki healer, is an AMAZING reader.

They’re lovely aren’t they! I’m definitely drawn to them more than any others I’ve seen but I’ll have a look at the Rider-Waite deck as well.
