I just need to rant about my friend. I love her to bits but I feel like we’re really clashing lately. She’s out spoken and quite bolshy. She has two kids her oldest is a month younger than mine. I feel I should stress she didn’t birth the babies her girlfriend did. They used a sperm donor. She’s made a few digs that mine is clingy cos I let him sleep in my bed. She said them going in their own room is part of growing up / gaining independence. And she also said if you put them to bed awake they’re less likely to be clingy during the night. I always feel inferior to her cos mine is quite clingy. Doesn’t sleep in his own room and isn’t a little genius like her daughter. I can’t really get this off my chest to anyone else. My other friend knows her and I feel she would take her side too just cos of her parenting style. I mentioned it to my fella and he said tell her to do 1 all kids are different 😂😂. I’m not sure why it bothers me so much. But mine actually sleeps really well most of the time. Just the other week he kept waking up but touch wood he’s slept well for the last two and she’s always moaning she’s hardly slept. Parenting is so hard sometimes. I don’t really know what the point of this was. I just wanted to get it written down somewhere 😂.
Something i’ve noticed since I’ve been a Mum is people LOVE to show off about their child and the worst thing is it’s mates who do it the most. When i’m on here no one seems to have the ‘my kid is doing so much and yours isn’t’ attitude but people i’m friends with in real life are. I have a friend who has a daughter 5 months younger than mine, and since she was born she’d make comments ALL the time. My son didn’t go in his own room till he was 2 and hers went in her own room at 6 months and she’d mention it ALL the time, whenever i’d see her she say how well her daughter sleeps in her room and say ‘do you get good sleep with him in with you?’ Every single time! then we’d see her fella and he’d say how they’ve been up all night so obvs it weren’t as perfect as she was making out
She was the same with speech our son never babbled and it used to worry me he never ever said ‘dada’ or ‘mama’ and when we’d be out with them he’d be silent and their daughter would be babbling and my friend would go ‘isn’t it mad how ours is 5 months younger but doing SO much more’
Some people like to paint out everything is perfect!

“violent psychopathic abuser you aren’t legally allowed to walk away from”
I don’t think I’ve seen anything so accurate written about a threenager in my life 😂
However, give me a toddler than a teenager. This is a different kind of hell 😂

Oh it’s horrific isn’t it. The first day was hell but we’ve worked it out now with lots of preparation, she pretends to do some soft toys and mine and hers and then watches my phone while I do it. She then gets 3 chocolate buttons after 😂😂 will be so glad once these are done!
We tried literally everything I could think of, every tactic that normally works. The poor girl is absolutely terrified at the minute of everything medical, she’s been put on inhalers for suspected asthma which are a battle, she sobbed her heart out when babyGG had bronchiolitis and we were up at A&E, we had to use her blue inhaler for the first time last week which has really spooked her and now she’s woke up today with conjunctivitis. I ended up having to put it on her closed eye and then just lifting her eyelid slightly to let it go in. It just feels relentless at the minute for her, I know she’s so fed up but she just doesn’t realise everything we’re doing is to help her get better bless her ☹

So Mini As sleep is still shit - bed at 8pm and up slightly later at 6:20am,
To quote the absolute Queen that is Lizzie McGuire. This sleep is what dreams are made of. They’re only meant to need 10 hours of sleep by 3yo anyway, and to get it uninterrupted sounds like bliss 🤤

Hello all, parent here to a very demanding 2yo and a placid 5yo. Think if the 2yo had come first we would have stopped at one 😂

A bit of a deep query but how are people doing with finding themselves again post-motherhood? I was very late to the idea of having children. It was definitely not something I had in my life plan at all, not even as a "will maybe do that someday."

I find parenting extremely exhausting and enjoy working as a break from this. At the moment I work PT whilst Mr B works FT. He seems to have more energy than me and still finds time for many hobbies and interests whilst most of mine had faded away. Unfortunately evenings are the only time I have to spend on myself and usually I'm in bed by 9pn because I'm so shattered. Both kids are in bed by 7.30pm and usually asleep by 8pm. That leaves the window of an hour of sorting out what needs done from the day plus getting ready for the next.

I know this isn't toddler centric but I'm really resenting the time Mr B has had to grow professionally as well as doing other hobbies. I do say my only hobby is reading but that's purely because it's easy to do around the children. We use grandparents for childcare whilst I'm working and there's no-one else that can babysit really.

What I suppose I'm asking is has anyone else encountered this and what have they done to overcome it?
The best thing I ever did was work longer days and take more time off. I work 30 hours over 3 days but I have childcare for 35 hours so Thursday mornings are mine to do what I want (not housework, food shopping, laundry). I jump out of bed with a spring in my step on Thursdays 😀

I didn’t mean it in a bad way. I mean compared to her girlfriend she is completely opposite. Like her girlfriend Is like most of us on here. Where we worry a lot and question things our kids do. Question ourselves. She’s a fab hands on mum to her two kids and their daughter always says she is her fav parent. she is just different from other mums I know. Tougher I guess. No dads aren’t less important but they don’t have the same instincts as us. I cant really explain it in a way where it makes sense. I didn’t word it very well cos I was a little pissed off. This week is where quite a few comments have come up and im a bit agitated. But I hold my hands up and agree i shouldn’t have said that part. It doesn’t take away the fact she loves her kids and the kids think she’s amazing.
Please rest assured that she also questions herself. Every parent does. Maybe she doesn't talk about it, she might even feel like she can't, who knows.
But if I've learned one thing, being a mom, every parent worries, every parent cares.

Feeling a bit sad tonight. Well, more than just a bit.
Feel like the shittest mum in the world, with mini P still in a cot and still not toilet trained and she'll be 3 in a few weeks. Just really beating myself up about it. She's bright as a button, recognises numbers and letters, speaks full sentences but just can't quite get the big stuff. And I feel it's my fault 😭
And I proper shouted at her tonight when she asked to go in her bed for her sleep, then just kept getting out a million times, and I got really frustrated.
Feel like she would be better off without me. 😔
Please don’t ever feel like a shit mum just because she isn’t potty trained and not in a bed! She needs her mummy 💗
These toddlers are so different. My friends boy was 3 in September and he’s exactly like your daughter. His speech has and is amazing, but is still in nappies and in a cot. He shows no sign of getting rid of either, but it’s fine. He won’t be in a nappy and cot forever, and neither will your daughter x

God my other half is pissin me off lately. Do I have to do everything. Why do we always think one step ahead and they are like three behind!! I was cleaning up downstairs and he bathed little one and he’s like can you get me a nappy. I’m in the middle of steam mopping the kitchen. I was like you should have taken it up before he got in the bath🤣. Just little things like that. Why do I always Have to do everythingggggg 24/7
I can’t remember the last time he brushed little ones teeth or packed his bag for pre school or something like that

I am so bloody triggered by these tantrums. I know they are developmentally normally but fuck they are so extreme and they make me not want to leave the house! I try do fun things like go to soft play or to the library, and it just ends in meltdowns when we go home and I do everything as I should e.g giving 5 minute warning we are leaving, giving options like do you want me to put your shoes on or will you do it… nothing works. I just hate this stage and feel like is something I should be doing to try and prevent these? He’s currently rolling around on the ground screaming because I only gave him 1 biscuit

Hopping on over from the new baby thread because I should probably be here now she's 16 months 🤣
How much fun is the "no" phase. Everything is no even if its yes 😭 driving me up the wall. Also jumping backwards off the windowsill (we have low ones). Genuinely think she is out to give me a heart attack 🤣🤣

Thank you both ❤ I know what you are saying is right and if a friend was in my position I’d be horrified at what she was going through. I’m going to plan my next moves and how I will cope financially over the next couple of days then ask him to leave, if he doesn’t decide to go today. Thanks again.

Mini A is like a different child after sleeping 7:40pm to 8:15am 🤣🤣🤣amazing what having a lot of sleep can do! She did amazing at swimming this morning, we’ve been Christmas shopping for some new things for the tree/house and she loved it, then we went to our new fun with phonics toddler group and she did so well. I can’t believe she’s like a new child🤣🙄

We’ve also had no accidents all day!

Speak to the police. If you explain he’s abusing you (financially, emotionally) and you’re worried he will go mental when you ask him to leave they’ll be able to help. You aren’t a bad Mum, you’re an amazing Mum for knowing the situation you’re in is nothing less than dreadful and wanting it to change. Xx

All of the stuff on the news about strep is so worrying. My nearly 3yo just has a really bad cough atm which isn’t a symptom but there’s always the thought of it just appearing that’s a worry! Hope all of your kiddos are ok!
