I had the night from hell!!! Mother in law took him to McDonald’s yesterday whar a shock !! Midnight comes and he starts throwing up chunks of fish fingers. I’d only been asleep a hour. I’ve had to Chuck one of the pillows out cos it’s that bad and I couldn’t bring myself to clean it without wrenching. Poor love was sick three times finally went to bed at 2am. Love picking chunks of fish out the carpet at middle of the night. Safe to say I’m pretty pissed off. Up for work at 6am in this bastard heat

I genuinely didn’t think mini A would be potty trained until next summer😂 but I just went with it. She’s done soooo well today. She goes to her potty when she needs a wee, and when I was upstairs to make the beds she brought the potty to me to show me she had done a poo, she was shouting “MUMMY I DID IT”😂😂😂😂😌 thanks hun x

What a trooper. Feel so bad she’s been going through this😞
It's horrible! It has amazed me how strong they are.
Considering she gets a paper cut and won't use her hand for days and cries every time she looks at it 😂

Asked me if I wanted to go call anyone.
Was no point because I just kept crying 😂

My boys (3 last month) preschool told me today that they are going to refer him to speech and language. It is something we have always discussed with them, and every term we have agreed to wait until next term to see how he is. We think he is doing really well, but we obviously see him everyday. I feel like such a failure (I know I shouldn’t. I’m really having one of them weeks 🫠 the baby thread know all about it 😂) he is so clever in other ways, but speech just has him stumped and I feel so guilty 😭

Thank you! How’s your daughter doing? How are you?? Xx
We're currently sitting back up in a&e!
Day 6 now of temperature. Up to 40 without calpol and ibroprofen.

Took everyone's advice and got some ibroprofen and it's brought her temperature down a bit by alternating the 2.

We've been seen by a nurse and she said "But her temperature is fine"

Yessss because she's dosed up on calpol and ibroprofen 😑😑😑

Thank you for asking! ❤

First time here and I just needed somewhere to talk/put this.

This morning my two year old bit me and I had a fight or flight response and lashed out at him, hitting his cheek. No mark was left, and I profusely apologised afterwards. He’s fine about it and we both have talked about it more and said we don’t hit or bite.

I feel absolutely awful about it. I’m totally against corporal punishment (even if I’ve been at breaking point before it would neverget that far). I just literally saw red and the place he bit (fleshy but in the side of my back) had me reaching straight back with a slapping hand, I’d have done it to anyone biting me there. It was instinctive, but I feel so much shame. I’ve been crying about it on and off since it happened.

I guess I just wanted to get it off my chest & see if anyone had similar stories to make me feel a bit more normal & not like the monster I current feel like.
That sounds like a really awful situation for you both. I do genuinely think that when someone hurts us out of the blue, we do sometimes react without thinking and lash out. I know certainly in the past when I’ve been breastfeeding and I’ve been bitten, my immediate response has been a squeal and a hand towards them - and yes, once or twice it has hit them as an instinct to get them off.
There is a HUGE difference between actively deciding to hit your child, and that automatic response to pain though. It all happens in a split second, and I don’t actually think you even could make the conscious decision to hit them in that space of time.
You feel awful because you’ve done something that you really never want to do. If you didn’t care, that would be the worrying part.
You will feel bad, certainly any time something similar has happened to me I have felt awful afterwards, tears definitely shed. But we are all human and, no matter what people say, I don’t think we can always control our reaction and response in a situation like that.

I took my dog to the groomers at the weekend just gone actually and my husband asked can I nip to the shop pick up xyz and I just said ✨no✨ and sat in the car the whole hour I was waiting for her with a coffee whilst listening to an audio book and it was pure bliss 😍

I am also my own worst enemy though because when the weekend comes I want us to go out as a family rather than my husband taking my son on his own so I don’t feel like I can whinge really 😂 I always feel like if they go out without me I’ll just be sat twiddling my thumbs waiting for them to get back hahaha

Im over parenting today. 😢 My 16 month old son is amazing but I’m finding social media toxic. I’m comparing everything other kids his age are doing. His speech isn’t clear and he’s never said mama. (I am a single parent).

He says approx 10 words (albeit in his babble voice) and I’m just constantly worried something is wrong. Why doesn’t he come to me and call me mama?

Ridiculous rant sorry guys lol I’m just bogged down with other life stresses at the moment and just fed up I guess. I break the bones of my arse 24/7 for this kid and he doesn’t even say my name.

aw the poor thing. Is it just a wait and see with antibiotics now? How are you doing?
Yeah. It seems to be.
Was supposed to be changing her to just oral antibiotics but the iv ones aren't working quick enough so she's still on them for another 48 hours at least, every 8 hours.

I video called home yesterday and I feel a bit better for it after having the nurse in here with me giving me hugs and sneaking me decent tea bags to cheer me up 😂

Im a mum of 4 and potty training my youngest (2yo) atm. We found with his siblings that they tend to pick up using the potty fairly quickly when running about naked but once pants/trousers come into play that’s a whole new skill to learn and it can really throw them. As can car journeys, changes to routine (school holidays), illness, moving house etc. So we treat each new skill as its own stage. So atm, I’m just teaching him how to take off and put on his own pants so he realises there’s another step involved. Then once he’s got the hang of physically doing that, I’ll show him how to do it by the potty for a while, followed by a wee, so he can connect the two skills together and then 🙏🤞 he’ll figure it out. I might even skip pants entirely for a few weeks like I did with his brother. Sometimes it’s too much to take off and they give up. He used to take off ALL his clothes at first because he just found it all too much. But he got there eventually 😅 they all figure it out in the end.

Iv got a little 15 month old and I'm just feeling like a really crap mum atm.
I'm going through abit of stuff atm with work which isn't helping, but I feel like I'm letting my little boy down. So one of my mates has a toddler just 2 weeks older than mine and she's always taking her child to kids groups, meeting up with friends and their children. She goes on lots of holidays and her child goes to nursery 5 times a week. The other week she took her child gymnastics and they do lots with her sisters kids and so they have lots of friends and fun.
I'm very isolated where I live and don't have many friends round here, I have to travel about an hour away to see my friends. And most of my work friends don't have children and I don't have many children in my family. Iv been to toddler groups and swimming groups with my little one but never seem to make many friends even though I'm always really friendly. And so I feel like I just suck. I feel like my little boy is missing out on not doing as much as my friends child and that I'm a bad mum. When I'm not working it's usually just me and my little one doing things together. Iv only ever been away from him for one night. Iv also got a lot of stress around my in laws (serious safeguarding issues) which means I don't have anyone to turn to for child care that much. And so, as a result I'm always so tired all of the time. But should I be doing all of this stuff? I feel so down with it that I cry alot because I feel I'm just so crap at being a mum.

Does anyone have any positive speech delay stories? My son is 3 and is really behind on his speech and I am worrying sooo much. We’re applying for schools and I just don’t think he’s going to be ready at all next year. He can say a good few words but doesn’t put two words together and is really shy. At nursery they say he is so quiet they haven’t heard him say a great deal. But when I pick him up he’s always mummy! When he sees me. We currently go to speech therapy but it’s not achieved a lot

i am so stressed

I really am at my last nerve 💔 my three year old has been so hard work this weekend. Crying whinging screaming pushing me kicking me when trying to get his shoes on. He’s never like this. I’m running out of things to do with him. We’ve exhausted every play area , been to the zoo , to the beach, for ice cream. Endless walks. But this week I have no money and can’t justify using my petrol as I need it to get to work this week 💔. He isn’t sleeping as well and I’m barely holding it together. He kept trying to put one of his dinosaurs in his mouth so I told him off. Omg the meltdown afterwards. Is it September yet 😭😭😭😭

I’d be gutted if my child was coming home saying someone was hurting them and the teacher was dismissing it. She’s obviously upset that this child is hurting her, whether it’s an accident or on purpose.
I had the same problem with Kid bean in reception, however the teachers were on it, knew it was happening and kept him away from my boy
I would definitely ask them to keep an eye on it, and it it still happens, call a meeting with the teacher and tell them you don’t appreciate them dismissing your worries
Exactly.
She is like it at home, Everleigh will bump into her and she'll get upset.
But it's more so the fact that she's apparently like it when anyone bumps into her at school yet she's only specifically said this 1 child has hit her. She's never mentioned any other child. Just him.

When she gets upset about someone knocking into her, even at home, she gets upset, but she never specifically says they hit her, unless they actually have!

If it happens again, she has 2 teachers, think ill speak to the other one.
Absolutely cannot stand the one I spoke to today 😂 she's so patronising😂

Last week they sent everyone's p.e kits back home because people's weren't named. Ours were.
But I didn't bring it back the next day as she didn't have p.e until Friday and she looked me up and down and went "Ummm Where's her p.e kit mum?"
I said, she doesn't have p.e until Friday? So I'll bring it back then.
She went "Well. Make sure you do or she won't be doing p.e"
Alright mate. I'm an adult I'm perfectly capable thanks.

How much child free leisure time do people get? I'm always with my children. If I'm out by myself I'm wither doing a boring errand or I'm walking the dog.
I need some time to myself
Also honestly not a lot, I’m at that stage where I’m absolutely shattered once I get my boy to bed but still stay up late to get some ‘me time’ and I feel the same, I’d love a day where I can just get up and think about myself and only myself the same way my husband does (not being bitter but it’s true) for example just getting in the shower, getting dressed then getting on with my day 😅 it’s hard isn’t it, hope you find some time soon to do something you enjoy x

8.30 tonight, been an absolute cow bag to me today too. All she’s done is cry or shout at me and she followed me into the toilet and slapped me in the face. Don’t know if it’s school holidays, she’s poorly or it’s a phase but this week has been really hard.
