Public or state universities, used to be free, with tuition included, until about 20 years ago. Tuition fees were introduced then, which have gone up and up. tuition fees here are more of a government loan, than they are in other countries.

although I think its slightly different in Scotland, as I think the govt does pay tuition fees for their scottish uni students!

Not many British people bother with private uni's, They are too specialist I think.

Community colleges vary, The ones closest to us, mainly have sixth form students. Education up to 18 is free, for all students. But if you want as an adult to do a technical course in something like plumbing, you would have to pay a fee.
Yes, university in Scotland is free for Scottish students.

Love reading all the fashion opinions, thanks everyone. Kate is so lucky to be blessed with supermodel proportions, she looks great in anything of course, but like some others here, would love to see her go outrageous and overboard sometime! Even dying her hair for a night as a red or blond, slicked back, something, anything! Remember Di pushed the boat out for them Testino pics.

I know Kate can’t win, damned if she does or doesn’t. We’re in a different era now, no ones going to clutch their pearls if she comes out in a bandage dress mini or something! I think protocol long went out the window. Agree with the poster who said she needs a really good finger on the pulse, trend setter stylist, even an American or French/Italian Person, preferably a gay guy, in all honesty.

I don’t think Harry has hidden that he has struggled to find his purpose. Highlighting the fact he felt at home in the army and then finding his interests in the conservation work in Africa. It must be difficult having no set role you have decided for yourself, and being a puppet for the public. No locus of control in that aspect of your life as a high ranking royal. But now it seems that he has made it his current life work is to reform the monarchy, which let’s face it alone he is not going to do
I haven’t been keeping up with all the Harry news. In what way does he want to reform the monarchy?

What are the opinions of them following the book release in the USA? I can’t seem to find any articles on this

it does all feel like fluff. her and william both have these initiatives that seem like fluff. the prince's trust, the dofe scheme, the invictus games were all stuff that had substance about it. this just seems to be flopping i think she needs to think of something with more substance and promote that. surely she has something she is really passionate about. doesn't she like sport? set up some sort of scheme to do with women in sports
I say it again, she should have taken on the DoE Award program and given it a personal touch with a side project of encouraging girls and women. No need to invent something new.
Although, Early Years deserve the attention. And pointing a finger where it hurts- which doesn’t have to be political. Why aren’t children potty trained before they go to school (what are parents doing differently and why? -my guess: we have a different take on children development and use different and more patient and gentle methods which leads to children staying in nappies longer. The school age/system is the same though. I am sure our mothers would have had 90% of those children out if nappies by 4. The question is - should the system change or will we accept that the gentle and patient approach is not the one that’s working in this set up?). And yes, the social net has eroded. But I have no idea if there are options for Kate to work against this. There are a myriad of things that can be done that won’t cost a thing (like parents in the neighbourhood working together with playground or general watching them on the street/outdoor duty etc.). That’s another thing, which would be interesting to know why the general working together in neighbourhoods has basically completely vanished. It sometimes feel as if you are surrounded by parents but everyone if fighting on their own…. But that would put the call for action on parents….. and I highly doubt that would go down well……
So she can’t call parents out to do certain things, she can’t call out politics…. (I mean, I think she could and be an uncomfortable thorn in the side and ignore the criticism). In that case raising awareness and giving publicity to some nice initiatives is all she can do.

I thought that too but then I wondered if maybe people who were in their circle at the time could have figured it out from the information he gave and it might have become common knowledge in a certain group? Maybe it was going to be revealed by someone else and she thought it may as well be her that got the money for it. To be fair she kept it quiet for 20 years. She'd def have been able to get into the DM with this story before now if she wanted to. I know what you mean though - it looks tacky.
That’s exactly what she said. People that were in the same circle at the time figured it out and contacted her about it. To be honest- I would want to cash in from my sex story too if the other party does AND if there is a high probability someone else does by pointing the journos in the right direction.

No but at least when they turn up at an event like that you can call them out for the hypocrisy and not have to stand there and clap like a seal and pretend they're amazing.

I'm all for the royals visiting hospitals and raising awareness for causes but you can't tell me that during a time when people are struggling and visiting food banks that they rock up, pretend they care and fuck off back to a mansion that the very people who are visiting these places PAY for doesn't leave a bad taste in peoples mouths....
People can call the royals out for hypocrisy

The Truss budget was a catastrophe. I want to say it was a worldwide laughingstock, but it wasn’t funny. She caused an impressive amount of damage.
Some of the issues the UK faces are worldwide due to war and shortages, but some are caused by government mismanagement, and that includes education funding, which is the discussion here.

In regards to Kate, she shouldn’t have picked a political topic. And unfortunately ECE care is considered politicial. I work in education, and it needs more funding, it’s that simple. If the government won’t do that, then she’s treading water. I reckon she should have studied a degree part time while raising the kids and getting her hair done, but she shows no interest in the academic side, which is a shame. Perhaps she read Pippa’s notes? 😂
No it isn't. ECE care itself isn't political, arguing ECE funding should be increased funded by increased taxes is (or saying ECE funding should be cut to cut taxes)

Will and Kate must be gagging for a holiday. Feels like a while since they went abroad unless they've managed to get away in secret, which wouldn't surprise me
I'm honestly shocked they haven't slipped off somewhere yet - Pippa is in St Barts right now at Eden Rock... She must be FUMING!

I'm surprised so many mail commentators are saying it's no one's business if Fergies daughters bought her flat. Like you're on the mail isn't chatting about gossip and house prices the point of the site?

PA is a real problem. He was never convicted, and while I personally don’t see how he wasn’t at least implicated in some ways, per law he IS not guilty of anything. Morally though, he is guilty AF. But I am not sure how you can argue with morals to make a solid case that will be looked at as example in the future. There is no Code of Conduct or a clear guideline. So any action is kind of arbitrary. KCIII. would be smart to put his lawyers on it. Having him not using his HRH is probably all they can make him do- I wonder if he actually could just shrug and use it anyway. Also, I am not sure the monarch can strip any titles. Especially the ones that weren’t handed out at their request. That’s for Parliament I guess and while I think they really have more important stuff to do than stripping PA, PA or JS (and some other shady assholes while they are at it) there should be a clear rule book and ways to strip people. High treason is not it in any of those cases.
It’s a bad position for Charles because he can’t execute any real power. The BRF is a very interesting case, having the position of the monarch as very powerful and at the same time very weak.
So yeah, they - Parliament and monarchy - need to outline this in clear form, modify the striping of rules and options of giving them up voluntarily. They need to get rid of several members asap. And outline the prospects for everyone not being the heir.
Any new monarch has to be approved by the Accession Council of leading politicians as even King Charles III was last year. Parliament and the King could also agree to restrict HRHs to working royals

What jobs do Eugenie and Beatrice do?

Princess Eugenie has a full-time job at Hauser & Wirth, an art venue showcasing both emerging and established artists plus modern art from around the world, and she also carries out royal engagements to support the monarch.

Princess Beatrice is the Vice President of Partnerships and Strategy at tech company Afiniti. She was previously an associate at investment firm Sandbridge Capital and before that she had a role as an intermediate coordinating producer at Sony Pictures Entertainment.

The dress she wore to the BAFTA’s badly fits around the bust. Not a fan of the black opera gloves. Such a shame, I think it would have been better without the gloves. The earrings look quite gaudy. Who is dressing her!
I think William looks quite smart.
The earrings were the only thing I liked!

His wife is some sort of french aristo and she works in finance so yeah....
Plus his parents are millionaires.

They don't get any taxpayer funds and provided the council approved the extension lawfully this is their business only

Carol is the ultimate social astronaut. She must be very determined and resourceful.
I bet if you are no use to her she is very dismissive. It does put me off Kate a bit, but maybe she is different.
The fact that her mother's nickname was duchess probably gives an idea of what she was like, she certainly gave her daughter the work ethic because Party Pieces was just a little part time venture she thought of at Kate's 5th birthday when she was looking for decorations and party items.
It is now a multi million pound company.
