What? A parents wealth doesn’t mean that the children aren’t going to end up needing help. Some parents refuse to help out their children and it’s nothing to do with drinks, drugs or partying.
Didn’t Marina’s include a pre marriage pregnancy and an unsuitable suitor?

I’m not sure, but anyone can end up on benefits or in bad situations in life was what I was trying to say.
It seems Marina is back on good terms with the fold now

I think James' marshmallow idea was very random. I think he's more passionate about his dog food brand, it makes more sense, he's talked time and time again about his dogs and how they've helped him during his depression.

I remember his marshmallow adverts being on the tv all the time years ago and didn’t know it was his company until about a year ago. They were quite a cool idea but soooo expensive for what they were. They could have worked much better as a funny novelty present on the side of someone’s main present but once you add in delivery they were about £15, which isn’t far off what you’d pay for a main present.
They still exist! Boomf.com :)

You know, I quite like James. He seems like a decent guy and his struggles with depression and love for dogs really resonate with me so I do not mean this as a dig, but...why marshmallows? I mean, they're pretty bland-tasting and best used in Smores, so very expensive marshmallows with prints on them that are probably not going to be toasted is just very...odd? to me. Are fancy marshmallows a British thing that I don't understand?

Not trying to be facetious at all. I just really never understood the business concept and how Boomf stayed afloat for as long as it did.
Iirc uncle Gary was pumping money in, as was Pippa's husband.

It's a very good uni but anyone can go there. Same with Oxford and Cambridge. We don't have private uni's. Private schools but not private uni's.
We do have private universities but they differ from American and European ones. 'Private' universities are considered to be those that are funded by tuition fees alone while 'public' universities receive funding directly from one of the government funding councils for teaching and research. They are University of Buckingham, Regent's University London, University of Law, BPP University and Arden University. There are also some private foreign universities.

I work with someone who is convinced The Crown is a documentary just being acted out. No one can convince her otherwise. She has never had an interest win the Royals until the show stated. She also believes everything H&M say as though it was the gospel truth and even though others have shown her where they have lied or left out some facts she believes it is all manipulated to make them look bad  I avoid her as much as possible:ROFLMAO:
I’ve honestly found that a lot of Americans think the crown is a documentary. I don’t even mean in like a supporting Harry and Meghan way but in a general knowledge way I.E someone said to me oh the queen liked to do *insert thing here* and then quoted the crown as proof it happened

Those are how American private universities work too. In the US the public uni's are more commonly referred to as 'state' schools and the tuition fees are subsidized by the state. Private or public/state schools run the whole gamut of prestigious to shite, but all the Ivy League schools are private. Going to a private university doesn't really mean anything on its own and there are some excellent public uni's too, ie UC Berkley, U Michigan, UCLA, etc

People disparaged that warning they put on the new season, but really it kind of was presented as a dramatised documentary! Like, obviously the private dialogues had to be made up but after a while if you're kind of passively watching it does all seem like 'certainly, this all must have happened'. It doesn't help that there are soooo many books and articles written about the Royals with 'insiders' dishing on what so and so had to say about such and such, it really doesn't feel that farfetched that even the private dialogues could be true!

The very fact that Carole sent them to a private school (and kate went to a private uni!) and instead of going off and carving out their own careers they have both managed to marry very wealthy men and social climb is not lost on anyone...

There is nothing wrong with being privilege or marrying into it like they have but lets not pretend that they'll be setting the corporate world on fire if they hadn't met their husbands
Private Uni? St Andrews isn't private!

45% of Americans now believe Harry and Meghan should have their royal titles and patronage removed, 26% they should keep them.

A complete change as when before Spare most Americans unlike most Brits thought they should keep them

that's very interesting about the public unis having tuition fees subsidized. does that mean that nobody going to public unis pay tuition fees? do people just choose to go to a private uni for the reputation then? do community colleges have fees or are they free?

i think there are so many different things about the royals that are just said that people just straight away take as being completely factual. some of them probably are but it's like that meme of harry saying he listens to shenyeng to calm himself down on twitter. i saw so many people on tiktok who genuinely thought it was actually true. the crown is that on steroids because people just take it as gospel.

To be fair, with the number of people who believe Corrie and Eastenders are real, I dont think we’ve much in the way of high ground :D
idk anybody who believes soaps are real. is that an actual thing?!

Public or state universities, used to be free, with tuition included, until about 20 years ago. Tuition fees were introduced then, which have gone up and up. tuition fees here are more of a government loan, than they are in other countries.

although I think its slightly different in Scotland, as I think the govt does pay tuition fees for their scottish uni students!

Not many British people bother with private uni's, They are too specialist I think.

Community colleges vary, The ones closest to us, mainly have sixth form students. Education up to 18 is free, for all students. But if you want as an adult to do a technical course in something like plumbing, you would have to pay a fee.

Yes, university in Scotland is free for Scottish students.
