What does Witchelling mean?
all through the afternoon of the Thursday before the announcement came that The Queen had died, we had 5 hours of Nick Witchell refusing to speculate having spent the previous hours doing just that … and then ploughing right on with continuation of. speculation. So basically speculating because Witchellating.

I have just wrestled for the last five minutes to untangle a king-sized duvet cover that had tied itself in knots whilst tumble drying. I wondered if the queen has ever had to do this or Charles or indeed any member of the senior royal family? I know there were reports of Catherine shopping in Waitrose, but it does make me wonder what ordinary things they actually do. I often complain about household chores, but I think if I never had to do anything like that again, I might miss it. How do they fill their days if they don't have chores? Even loading the dishwasher.

I know it's been widely reported that The Queen would cook at barbeques, but I wonder if she ever cooked Philip a dinner or if it was always a life of privilege.

I can imagine the younger royals doing 'normal stuff,' but I simply can't see Charles logging onto Ocado to book a weekly shop.

Megs and H did talk about cooking chicken at Nottingham cottage - I wonder if they did the washing up?

Oh come on - we heard from the horses mouth that Meghan and Harry cooked a roast chicken……..

I think they spend a lot of time ensuring things are "perfect" - clothes, banquets etc. Must be really nit picky.

Came up on my feed and it’s brought it all back
It’s one of those moments that will live with you for a while, a ‘where were you when….’ moment

We’d spent most of the afternoon watching Huw, Witchell, and Witchelling along with them. I’ll never forget seeing that flag. 2 out of 3 of us noticed it was at half mast and shouted literally seconds before the announcement, and just as Huw started speaking I got a notification off The Mirror of all places. Didn’t even realise/remember I had their app

Not speculation, widely and authoritatively reported from on the ground in Jamaica.

No, She should be on her own. She was The Queen. No need for extras.
I think any Consort worth their salt needs to make their peace with being the ‘Support Act’. In spite of the late DofE’s strong personality he performed this role impeccably. I think our current Queen Consort and Princess of Wales will be able to do the same.

I always wonder that, along with what tv do they watch? Did The Queen have to be free at 8pm to watch Corrie? Did she have a Netflix account? Would she binge on a sharing size bar of chocolate while watching tv? Would love insights to the small things.

They don’t get as much abuse here in the US because no one cares about them, they are not important.

When almost every word you utter is a lie, and you married a member of the RF , you are going to get disparaging news coverage. I’m sure the press coverage would have been more favorable had Smegz not been a pathological liar.

The pap pictures of her early in their relationship were all very obviously set up by her and nobody was chasing her anywhere. LA-style PR 101 - call the paps and then claim they're harassing you. Her extra benefit from lying about being harassed was forcing Harry to publicly confirm their relationship.

I did hear she watched the Crown (early seasons at least). Would love to know what else she watched! What TV someone enjoys offers a little insight into their mind. Wonder what Charles watches…

I think it was been confirmed she liked Emmerdale. And I think they have catch up at BP I wonder if a 90+ year old woman still could turn it on though- some households have an astonishing amount of remotes for the tv. And with all the streaming platforms it has gotten quite the thing to navigate till you get the content you want.
I can see them doing the odd chore when they want (and I think shopping, cooking, dishwasher, tidying up behind yourself, putting clothes in the bin…. happens regularly) but it’s a massive discussion if it’s a chore you have to do all the time or something you can easily just outsource if you don’t feel like it. I also think ALL of them had to do some things growing up. Even the older gen. Learning how those things are done to be respectful of the work of others is a thing for the old money privileged bunch.

@ButterTart correct but my point wasn’t a point about what would be fair but what would makes sense in an opportunistic and strategic way. In the end it wouldn’t be KC or the RF anyway because I don’t think they can go after private people or companies but only a nation on the government level.
@LoopyLou47 I agree that W should have made such statement the very first moment. He could have said that he is happy to be here and that HMTQ is happy for for them to choose their own path. How they will ever be connected by friendship bla bla bla. It would have been a heads on approach. Just doing it at the end looked like they had the save face rather than being in control. I think if it doesn’t happen before W will cut them loose. It’s too much of a constant point of criticism. They can still visit those countries on a State visit? And G,C&L will survive not to tour an exotic realm under their families reign for their honeymoon. They can honeymoon wherever and than tour the UK- if that’s still done by then (which I can see. Young royals/young live sells even if they won’t have a permanent role as working royals).

And yes to a memorial. Big and pretty. Not some of the modern atrocities we saw in the last future. The Diana statue is just horrible.

Apparently the Queen Mother liked Golden Girls and that’s why they performed at the variety one year.

Obviously last future is not correct. My autocorrect is completely f*d up at this point. It even swaps correct words

yes she should but I’d like to see him mentioned in some way. like a few words underneath . also remembering prince philip her strength and stay . just because them are her words about him

Most with money chose not to do daily household chores, fix the gutters or paint the shed. Even Zara , despite being classed as normal, I doubt she changes the beds and runs the hoover.

EDIT to say it’s me whitcheling and of course she may actually do so

I am wary of having a statue - have you seen modern statues? They are god awful. Look at the Diana one, it’s criminal.
