She went to some other Instagramers book lunch (I think) you really don't need to buy or rent clothes for that! I'm pretty sure it was an Ad or hidden Ad anyway. Renting a dress for such a low-key event when you claim to be scrimping every week makes no sense anyway so whatever she is on about is just bullshit to justify yet again her being in reality extravagant.

The way they approach/think about things seems so blinkered to me.

for example recently Alex posted a series of stories about selling bits & bobs on eBay for £1-2 when other people couldn’t be bothered and would have just chucked or donated. It was explained with pride and tied into the frugality mentality. But imo with things you accumulate it’s not just about money angle but the space and time those items ‘cost’ you to acquire, store and then get rid of.

There is the environmental angle too and I do applaud her for sending those items directly to where they are wanted rather than creating landfill etc. But overall they seem to get really stuck in the weeds of how they approach nearly everything?

It’s bizarre to me to renovate entire rooms (eg bathroom) and storage does not factor *at all*. Whereas storage would be one of my first thoughts because if you can’t answer ‘where are all the things going to go’ (bring realistic about how you live) then that room will always struggle to function and not look great. She’s too focused on staging which accounts for how her rooms look less than 0.01% of the time.

We're having a spell of nice weather which we know, 100% guaranteed, will be followed by shitty weather. Why not crack on?! I want to shake them by the shoulders! You can't have a half finished tiled patio for a year, if the grout isn't done it will fuck it up surely and you grout once they're all laid don't you???

It feels like she's distancing herself from the 'frugal' label altogether these days. And probably aiming to be a specialist glasses influencer instead.

Niche 🙄

Has she ever shown this room before?View attachment 808556
It’s the secret (secret until this morning) double story extension!

Genuine question- what is this room being used for? i can’t see any bed set up in it. If it’s a playroom, then why are there toys all over the house? Or is it literally a walk in wardrobe for the winter coats because they didn’t put enough storage in their actual bedroom?

I've unfollowed if she's going to spam her feed with people wearing glasses every single Friday. I don't get what she's trying to prove

Crafty Alex cropping the picture of the finished tiles so as not to show the second floor of the extension. We already know Alex!

Agree with all the comments. Wonder if their job (lol) makes it impossible for them to maintain a normal household? Influencing by nature pushes constant consumption of the new which is unsustainable in sooo many different ways, and evidently not sustainable for their family home?

Just to add onto the charity shop convo - I think anybody can buy from charity shops, as long as they are also giving back, which I don’t believe Alex does as she seems to sell the majority of stuff. I wouldn’t have a single issue with her buying second hand if she also donated back, especially the higher end stuff that gets sent to her for free anyway
But they're so overrun with stuff they end up shipping loads of it to poorer countries who are absolutely drowning in clothes they'll never use. In my view it's better for the planet to sell clothes you no longer want where possible, as you know its going to someone who wants and will use it, rather than a bursting-at-the-seams charity shop where it might never be sold

Now What

Whew! I was so worried about the lack of a small wall shelf and basket in her front hall, but I see she's finally got them up. They even look close enough to the front door that it could be bashed into if opened wide enough.

I’ve said this before but she tries to be frugal by shopping around for bits and bobs and doing things in stages. But then they inevitably end up spending more than just buying a product outright. And then there’s inevitably things wrong that don’t work or match, and they must spend more money fixing those bits. Like on the wardrobes she said there was some part of it she wouldn’t recommend to others, and her kitchen had parts missing and scuffs on it that she then had to fix. How about just spend a smidge more on a product and it’ll work for years!

Can I ask how do we know her parents are loaded and paid for her mortgage. Sorry if I missed a large chunk when this was explained. Just so annoyed as I bought into the whole frugal thing years ago and keep finding this stuff out and getting more and more annoyed. Influencer culture is the worst but a well off girl claiming to be frugal with all the gifted items just sends me over the edge.
It’s never been explicitly stated I don’t think but she’s been quite public about earning under £20K a year working in magazines, Chris was previously an out of work actor and they now pay themselves £30K a year each from her business. On that calculation they’d have a max mortgage of £300K. She bought her house for around £700K and has remortgaged to pay for renovations. So someone has given her at least £500K somewhere along the way. I guess they probably made some money on their last property. But either way she’s been given hundreds and hundreds of thousands of pounds. Anyone who’s parents have that much cash lying around (and assuming they’ve given her sister some $$$ too) is absolutly positively LOADED.

This is what a lot of us do, it’s called working from home or even just working. I worked 8-6 today, got home fed the kids and myself, put them to bed and now I’m sat working on my computer and probably will be until midnight when I’ll start all over again.
You and your husband are work shy
Sorry but this isn't something people should sell as "normal" as that suggests its acceptable. So not good to be doing so many extra hours, most people wouldn't be paid for those extra hours so it's literally free labour, and it's really not healthy. Work-life balance is so important

That kitchen is so awkward, it is so small for a 3 bed Victorian home. I would build along the wall to give me more storage space
