Does France have any laws providing for breach of promise lawsuits? Here, if an engagement is broken the wronged party has recourse to the law. At least it used to be the case, no idea if that’s is still possible.

She's closed down Patreon, cancelled youtube and all of her other social media accounts. Apologised to all the people she has been grifting, stealing and lying to. She has refunded ALL of the Patreon monies to all the poor old grannies she skined. She has made a massive donation, humbly, to a number of welfare organisations and has signed over the entirety of the shithole to MarIE as it is her happy place. She has decided to live out her days, in destitution in her teeny tiny apartment overlooking the fat, naked, ugly people.

I've never lived in France, only been there on vacation or in connection with work. What about places like Sarlat, or is that too full of tourists? There are probably too many Brits in that region too! I also loved the area around Lake Annecy, but again, maybe it attracts too many tourists. I love rural areas but it does seem as if, in France, you are better off in a small market town, rather than in a very small village. If you live on your own, I think you could be quite isolated in a really small place. Some French market towns are lovely.
Making an appointment today to get my knee xrayed again. Told my Doc this week it's getting worse and he's told me at 60 I'm still too young! He said about the injections (had them didn't work) and I told him to stuff that, hence the xray appointment. He knew I meant business lolHubby had his second Knee Replacement today.
Just back from visiting him in the hospital and he was in pain but not so "out of it" like he was last time.
They will get him up walking tomorrow...good luck to the nurses!

I believe UK dropped that law about 40 years ago. A girl I worked with was going after her ex for breach of promise when he dumped her just a few months before the wedding for another. She was told by a solicitor that it was a no-go. But hell hath no fury and she got herself a little revenge.

Good grief women! Now we're knee twinnsies!!
Since last October, when whatever happened happened, my knee has gone from bad to worse. Some days recently I have succumbed to crutches. My médicine traitant is, along with me, at her wits end. Not one of the specialists I've seen to date are interested in or want to consider the history of my knee injury. I had a cortisone injection about 2 months ago and it made matters a whole lot worse. I have appointments at the end of the month and the beginning of June for 2nd opinions from a recommended sport orthopaedic surgeon and a rhumatalogue. We've heard such good things about both of them that I'm hopeful. I'm also pulling out the big guns and himself is coming with.
@JackSpratt don't let them fob you off. At our age we can't afford to miss out due to untreated injuries. It is so much more than just the pain. I hope your xray goes well. Have you had an MRI (IRM) scan? The problem could involve the gooey bits!

The person that is the most upset is Yum Yum ...... why isn't he at home to walk me and why isn't the old guy here to put me up on the bed and let me snooze together.
My hubby has spoilt him so.

So I have severe OA in both knees and I’ve finally found things that work, I’m on an anti inflammatory that’s prescribed, I take panadeine forte if I have a huge flare (not often) and straight CBD oil (prescribed also) these seem to be reducing my pain as I don’t want a double knee replacement yet.
I don’t believe so, it’s just seen as someone changing there mind for whatever reason. Although, I do believe if an engagement is considered of important value or a family heirloom it has to be returned.

I think that is the case here now. I know when baby brother got divorced the judge required the ex-SIL to return the engagement ring as it was a family heirloom and had some value.

Interesting to hear how other countries deal with inheritance. Ireland allows 3k per annum tax free to anyone (not just relatives). On death children get around 320k tax free (once only so nothing for second parent) and grandchildren get around 32k tax free with 33% tax on balance remaining. So Parents work hard and pay taxes to leave it to you to pay more taxes on it. Spouses can inherit tax free from each other but unmarried only get the 32k allowance before the 33% kicks in.
SIL getting two knees done during this year. She's 54. Health insurance is essential here in Ireland this is going to cost her between 5k and 15k depending on hospital as she has no insurance and public system would be years to wait. Hubbies pacemaker op cost 13.5k to our insurance company. We pay about 3.5k pa for both of us so finally getting some value.
