I’ve seen this name changing tactic in small companies in the US. Get sued for something dissolve the corporation, re-incorporate under a new name, same industry, same assets, same directors, screwed victims. Sound familiar?
I know exactly where you are coming from, personal experience of exactly the same.
I worked for a very short time with a father/son enterprise (think Ns, fraudsters, scammers, scum of the earth types) under the guise of being "ethical". As it transpired, the son had even previously been featured on Esther Ranzen's, That's Life programme :
That's Life! ran on BBC1 for 21 years from 1973 to 1994, becoming one of the most popular shows on British television, reaching audiences of more than 18 million. During that time, it expanded the traditional role of the consumer programme from simply exposing faulty washing machines and dodgy salesmen, to investigating life-and-death issues.
I hated both of them so got out asap. BUT, before I did, daily practise was to repeatedly create new companies whilst dissolving others on a constant turnaround basis and using all the same directors etc, which right from the word go, I thought was exceptionally dodgey.
Even the FBI were eventually on their tails regarding Pay Day Loans companies in various states within USA, operated from the UK, obviously! BUT, the pair were all about "off shore" accounts too, wouldn't you know it?
The son really fkd over his first wife in being able to hide so many of his assets off shore when they divorced via that route, unfortunately, she ultimately ended up an alcoholic - no wonder! And the son then went onto to have at least 4-5 more children by various employees too - marrying one but mostly mistresses. Jeez, much worst than any kind of soap opera, you couldn't make it up. I personally found him absolutely grotesque both in looks and personality/nature, mainly personality and of course, he always knew that I knew, what he truly was - thank God!
I even discovered some years later that my name had been mentioned in google searches in connection with them, thankfully, only that I was the "enigmatic xx".
I also recall having conversations with other employees that payday loans were simply taking advantage of the most vulnerable and poorest of the poor within any society and therefore, the practise should be illegal because of the interest rates involved - once in, you never truly were ever able to get out or, pay off your loan scenario! Truly horrendous.
Me and my big mouth, because many of those same employees were shareholders in the original Pay Day Loan companies that the father and son had initially created. Even if I had known that fact, I would still have stated what I thought and how I felt, regardless!
