💯 agree. Also, post Beatles when John and to some degree George really went for him in the press, he really held back. He could have been equally as vicious, but I've always thought he dealt with it really well.

He's always been a really devoted family man too.

You’re both right. Julian was very close and I think still is close to Paul, his family clearly adore him. He’s not perfect, but no one is. You can see in photographs that Heather loved him when she was a child. The fact that he wanted to adopt her and for her to be a McCartney too speaks volumes. I think there was a degree of cowardice when John and George sent Ringo round to Paul’s with the letter telling him to delay the release of the McCartney album. John had had his chance to say he was leaving The Beatles and hadn’t taken it, leaving Paul to take the blame for all these years. I loathe How Do You Sleep, you can hear the venom in John’s voice. Horrible song

Really like the new song, it sounds so wistful and a little sad. Paul seems to be opening up a little more of late, with the documentary and now a song/album with nods to the past. There's a hint of vulnerability and it makes me want to give him a hug.

I met Paul a few times when his kids were younger, I used to work in a little corner sweet shop and they would come in on a Saturday. He was just like any other Dad (well obviously not but we didn't give him any hassle, let him just be as normal as possible), smiley and nice. No selfies then, and we would never have asked for an autograph, more innocent times...

I loved the album, it’s very reflective, he sings about the people he loves. I think his voice sounded great. You’re not hearing 27 year old Paul, but I really liked that. I want to hear an older Paul reminiscing. You can hear glimpses of previous sounds on prior albums and his influences too. I’m really looking forward to seeing what you all think.
Also @Tangerine Dream a fellow Paul fan forever.

I'm so glad to find other people who love The Beatles, and especially Paul, as much as I do.
When I heard The Days We Left Behind, I was so moved, both by the poignancy of the lyrics, and by the vulnerability of Paul's mature voice. I can't quite explain what it means to me as a lifelong Beatles fan, and someone who has had their music as the soundtrack to their life, particularly Paul's songs, Eleanor Rigby being, to my mind, the greatest of many masterpieces.
I get so angry when I hear or read comments about The Beatles, and then about Paul himself, being overrated. It's unbelievable to me that pure musical genius can be disparaged by people who have such a poor grasp of how these 4 lads from Liverpool changed the world, and of how their music will last, in the same way that the greatest classical music has lasted. To my mind, and other musicians, composers and songwriters, McCartney is the greatest musical genius of the 20th (into the 21st) century.

Me too, so much! Even if you don't like their music, look at how music as a whole was before vs after The Beatles, surely their contribution to completely transforming the very way of music can't be denied.

Sadly most people's knowledge of the history of popular music and it's influence on society is woeful but that doesn't stop them making ignorant comments. And when people who really should know better (looking at you, Richard Osman) come out with nonsense like Taylor Swift being more influential than The Beatles this really doesn't help.

But thankfully the Apple PR machine continues to keep The Beatles in the news, even if it's an increasingly sanitised version of events. And the fact that Revolver is part of the GCSE Music syllabus now shows that it is rightly recognised as the pivotal moment in popular music.

I hope everyone enjoys listening to Dungeon Lane today. How lucky are we to have Paul and Ringo still making wonderful music in 2026.

This, all this. We have no right to expect 2 men, in their 80s to be delivering new music, and promoting it, in the way Paul and Ringo do. We are owed nothing from Apple, from any of the estates. The nasty comments don’t just come out about Paul, I read so many disparaging comments about James too. Leave him alone, he isn’t Paul and has never claimed to be. I saw James once, in the Cavern on a night out with mates. He had the most gorgeous eyes and smile. There was no big I am.
im also looking forward to the fan experience at Savile Row. If anyone is planning to go, can I recommend the Handle and Hendrix museum which isn’t that far away? You can sit in the chair that Hendrix was photographed sitting in.

Lucky you seeing James at the Cavern, how fab! Yes, I'm looking forward to the Savile Row experience, it sounds fascinating. And to be able to stand on THAT rooftop, just wow.
