My OH has lost his passport and we go on holiday in about 6 weeks! We’ve turned the house upside down trying to find it but no luck. We are trying to sort out a new one via 1 week fast track, but when we click the link to book an appointment and pay it says there are non available! We’ve been checking constantly over the last 24 hours including through the night and first thing this morning. It says ‘extra’ appointments will be added but I have yet to see any. What are we meant to do if we can’t even get an appointment? We have all the forms filled in and new photos that have been co-signed and the money is waiting in the bank to be paid. Just want to get it sorted now. Would calling the passport advice line be of any use? Really starting to panic now.
Are you in the uk? I don’t think they have anyone answering the calls to the advice line at the moment 🙈 they generally release dates for the emergency appointments first thing in the morning so I’d try 6/7am in the morning to see if you can get a slot. If there is none there it then means they are all booked. Another option is to reach out via twitter, they are apparently active on there.

ETA just seen you got an appointment 😁😁

Has anyone ever experienced an under eye twitch that's lasted for days?
I've had it in the past but for just a few minutes at a time, then it goes away. I'm on day 5 now and it's doing my head in. It has lessened a bit. It was constant but it's slightly more intermittent now. I have a neuro problem (a weird and wonderful type of migraine) but it isn't that because I tried taking the acute medication to see if it would go away and it hasn't.

Has anyone got any tips to get rid of it? It's bothering me now.
oh i’m sorry! i used to get them frequently (always in my right eye) for days at a time if i was tired or if i’d had too much screen time. i found the only way to really help was to restrict my phone/computer use where i could so my eyes weren’t stressed, and to lie down with a cold/lukewarm cloth over my eyes for 15 minutes or so in the evenings. slices of cucumber work too, or one of those gel eye masks.

it’s so annoying though, i really feel for you. my optician (when i went to him about mine) said that they basically tend to happen when the eye is worn out, so i would maybe think about anything that you’ve been doing over the past few days (working on something that means a lot of computer time for example) and trying to cut that down.

Going to a local national trust type place
are you going with other people?

can you say that you have changed times? Cancelled? Are meeting for someone’s birthday and you don’t want to bring someone else along in case they’re not happy with that?
you could say one of your friend gets upset when plans change and that’s not fair on her but next time you will ask him?
(i say this cause I am that friend 😂😂)

Not really no, most gardens that everyone has is really small an I know their roots get incredibly long so it's too much a risk with the houses an I wouldn't like to put that on anyone with the house foundations

Tbh I really didnt think I was going manage to grow them, I had tried a few times years earlier for a while an they just never took off so for bored with planting, but these 3 are growing strong, all from what I found laying in a park an just decided one day to try it lol, it's maybe still a while before pots will no longer do but I feel they are ready for permanent homes at this stage as well

It's made me realise I kindi love to plant things an watch then grow now so really it's more my personal feelings that sorta pushing me to find a home for them lol, it would be nice to see them fully grown before I go if I could as well
Wow, that's amazing growing them from so small, you must have a lot of patience, you've put your time, effort, faith in them. That's a good point you bring up about their roots too as sometimes it's difficult to imagine how big they will actually grow.

Glad I found this thread.

I have a query that I can’t seem to get definitive answer on google.

I am up for car insurance renewal next month, the renewal paperwork has come through and i noticed that i haven’t updated the occupation for the past 3 years, I’ve just simply rolled over. The profession type is still the same. Basically what’s on the policy is (I’ll use example rather than my actual so I don’t triangulate myself): e.g. ‘Administrator’, and then my actual job now is like ‘Administrative Officer’ at a new place. It’s the same type of job just a different title. I am not claiming, I just need to renew. Will I likely get penalised for updating it 3 years late? I’ve never made a claim and don’t need to, currently.

I know I can ring them and ask but I get nervous ringing up these places and it feels like they always try to find a reason to increase the fee/punish you, so I want to know what I can expect, first.

Basically what I’m asking is, has anyone else accidentally forgotten to update a very slight change to occupation, and were you penalised?

Of course if I changed address, car, etc I would inform them but the occupation line is on about page 4 so easily missed as the title is so similar and they’ve always automatically rolled the policy over.

Some people get white lab coat syndrome with doctors, for me, it’s ringing up insurance companies
I had to update mine recently and was having an issue because my job didn't fall into any of the specific categories they had on the drop down menu. The person I spoke to said incorrect or outdated information can be used to refuse a pay out. In my case they said they'd just put it down as the closest option to it and make a note on the file. Basically to show I'd done everything possible my end to provide them with correct info.

My advice is that it won't matter that you haven't updated it previously, that time has passed now so don't worry about it (just don't tell them that bit). However, now you've realised then you must update it ASAP. You might be able to do this by setting up an online account so you won't have to speak to anyone. A job change shouldn't increase the premium and I doubt they will ask for the date you started the job.

The last two days I seem to have developed a really strong sense of smell, smells that don’t usually bother me have really been making me feel sick. My last period was only last week so can’t be pregnant, does anyone know what’s wrong? 🙁
Before losing my sense of smell with covid, for a day or two of being sick things smelled strange and very strong. I couldn't be in the kitchen when my partner was cooking meat for example and it was making me gag. Do you think you could have covid?

I've not seen the other thread but you keep saying the same thing over and over. are you expecting different replies?

Either block him or don't block him.

I know this isn't FB but I have a mass unblocking on FB sometimes, don't even look at the names just unblock everyone I have blocked for various reasons and leave them unblocked unless they bother me again.
It’s on the below thread. Last two pages are full of responses about this exact issue.

Oh no, I didn't take it this way at all :) Nothing to be sorry about! I agree, it's just hair at the end of the day!

Haha, that's hilarious though! I'd say going wrong with a cut is a bit more annoying as you can't rectify if too short. At least with colour, there's always a possibility to fix.

Thank you :)
I’m sorry you had such a bad experience. I would contact them and ask them to rectify the issue, but i’m not sure i would fully trust them again unless it was someone new. Hope you get a good resolution.

My frames and everything added* come to £250 or thereabouts. So hopefully the voucher takes it down a little

* didn't get the cheapest varifocals as the actual viewing gap was ridiculously small , I didnt get the next one up either but the one after.
antiglare coating as living down the lanes night driving with these newer headlights is dangeraus and any help is welcome. although many say they don't help ..
I don't like the anti glare coating as it makes my glasses smear more. I'm always cleaning them when they've had the anti glare.

Hi all

I have to go into hospital tomorrow for a DEXA scan.

Is anyone familiar with it or has any experience and advice?
I have them every year or so due to underlying health issues, you lie on a bed and they pass a scanner over you! If you wear leggings/stuff without metal you don’t even have to get undressed

@BettyCrockerr yes hard skin and just general pain, I don’t know does everyone go through this and I’m just weak! 🙈 I’ve just been thinking lately if I get invited to any event or wedding etc I don’t know what the hell I’ll do.. I feel the pumice stone is never out of my hand!!!

@Kim Mild I’m a sea swimmer and it’s definitely soothing on the feet!!! Not diabetic but when I Google my feet issues diabetes always pops up.. I might have to ask some diabetics for tips 😀. I’m fine if I’m standing/walking around all day in runners just seem to have so much hard skin and underneath Part of my feet is always hot. I can’t even go 30 minutes in a loafer, boots, anything other than runners… might just be low pain tolerance 🙈

is this the same dress? (i love a search, i’m going through the #greendress tag on insta 🤣) the belt is throwing me off but i think the other girl just has it twisted at an angle. the buttons and sleeves definitely look the same, and you get a discount code!

Thanks lovely but I think that's a copy also. I know me too, but the search is harder than I thought:ROFLMAO: I think it must be from a popular brand because Aliexpress etc have copied it and lots of smaller boutiques online, but I just can't find the original.

Thanks so much for your help though guys, much appreciated🙏

Thanks so much, its been nice to try it out an see them grow

We had apple trees as well, but two of them, I'd maybe move it away from the window if it's right by it just incase but so long as there's some space between then it should be fine, do you know what kind of apple tree it is? I've seen a lot of people with those I think they are called crab apple trees that they have in gardens an those are generally quite small trees, ours was absolutely massive so made for great fun to climb up as kids 😂 but I don't see many people having those now, I mostly see the smaller version of apple trees now
It's about 6-7ft from window, cant remember the name, sweet variety, not crab apple (y)
I've hijacked your post snippysnips 😂 sorry mate

V random, but is anyone aware of a supplier of ~world foods~ who sell online with delivery all over the country for a not-insane charge?

I live in an area which is... Not 'diverse', but I use a lot of ingredients in cooking and stuff for around the home which I usually buy very cheaply from a "Asian & Afro" grocery shop in the nearest big town to me.
I'd love to be able to avoid the long drive, parking charges, and time out of my life if there's an online shop I've not yet found.
Have you tried world food?

Im lucky my local one also has a website and my local nisa sells huge bags of spices and indredants

I have a jumper I really love that is 80% Acrylic and 20% Wool. When i put it on it feels sooo itchy. Does anyone have any tricks to make it not feel so itchy? I have eczema too which probably isn’t helping the situation
Tbh I struggle with wool, and have eczema. I try to stick to cotton and soft acrylic.

@Some People! I'm glad my post inspired you to book an appointment. I hope it went well!

An update on my situation - I was looking forward to the appointment but should have trusted my gut. The hairdresser completely messed my hair up IMO.

I let my hair grow out and it hadn't been tinted since before COVID so it was in pristine condition. The hairdresser told me the only colour should could give me was a dark chocolate brown because my natural hair is black. She advised if I wanted a lighter shade of brown, I'd need to do a balayage. I'd never heard of this before. I was a loyal customer of this salon for years before COVID and I never heard something of the sort. I wanted a lighter shade, not a hair full of highlights and I don't know what else. Then, I proceeded to tell her to pull my previous records and see what my other hairdresser used to do (the staff completely changed, but the records are still there). Supposedly she couldn't find my records even though they keep records from day 1. My bank account sure has those records dear!

Anyways, the balayage is 150e more than the "tint and halo" they offer. I politely told her my former hairdresser did a tint and never asked for a balayage. She then says she'll do the tint and halo and asked me to pick the colors. I went by what I used to do in the past (brown at the top and through the lengths with lighter streaks - not full on highlights - here as halo and there but really well blended with the root).

She did the hair and I could tell she was struggling. I go to get my hair washed, then they started the blow-dry and within 2 minutes I had to ask the stylist to call the colourist. My hair was brown at the top, a huge streak of blonde/orange hair that does not even blended with the root and jet black hair at the back / underneath. The colourist comes and says we'll tone it again, but insists on saying this is the colour I wanted. For sure I did not want three colors on my hair! They used the toner and started the blow dry again, it still doesn't look good. The top clearly looks auburn, the lengths look black and the lighter bits are almost green. Then she says "the bottom and top look the same" in the rudest manner.

I speak to her manager and say I'm sorry, I'm going to be honest, I'm not satisfied. There are three unblended shades on my hair and it looks a bit all over the map and streaky. He says no problem, I understand, come back another day, we'll get it fixed.

Then I go to the reception to pay, she is standing there at the computer. As soon as she saw me standing at the reception, she looked at me and walked away without saying anything. No "we'll get it fixed" or "I'm sorry it didn't turn out the way you liked but don't worry, it will be sorted". Not even a "thank you", zero even though I was about to pay. Now, I should have known she was bad news because she was not listening when I was trying to explain what I wanted, did not smile once from start to finish and while other hairdresser were chatting away with clients, she said zero to me (I don't care for chit-chat but she had an off vibe).

I get she may have been upset when I said I was not satisfied, but I was not going to pay 200e on something that looks absolutely horrific. No to mention, she told her manager "this is what she and I agreed to do". She was trying to blame me to save face.

Not only is my virgin hair completely messed up but I also wasted 4.5 hours of my life and she messed up my top which is filled with colour and my face (she managed to put colour all the way down to my eyebrows and cheeks). I used to get my hair done regularly and never had even as much as a single spot of colour on me.

They kindly did not charge me in the end and told me to com back. I am thinking I might go to another hairdresser to get advice first and see what they say as to how this can be fixed.

Here is what my hair looks like now - how does she think this looks good? You can't see the reddish shade at the top due to the flash, but it's there.

I had a similar experience once. My hair looked like a mint humbug, thick white stripes with my very dark hair. This after I asked if she could do a few highlights randomly through my hair. They weren't highlights and they weren't random

My opinion is that I would give the salon an opportunity to rectify. Who will try and fix it? I would insist on senior colourist and maybe take some photo's, if you have them, of what your hair looked like previously. If they want the same person to do your hair then I would refuse.

Balayage is very popular and I had it done years ago, I liked it and if you google it you will get loads of examples.

I'm personally not too precious about my hair as it grows quickly and I've had some styles and colours through the years that make me laugh now. If they hadn't charged me I would probably buy box dye and just colour it myself and wait for it to grow out

Hi all just want to know if you think I'm overthinking and to forget it or whether my idea is a good one or too much!

Short version: I accidently woke up my friends toddler and he then took forever to go back to sleep meaning his dad missed dinner so I was going to get a voucher for just eat or something so he can have a hot dinner 🤣

Long version: I was going round my sisters best friend's house last night to plan her hen do. Another friend was joining us.

I went to my mums beforehand as she lives 10 mins away from sisters BF and it made sense for me to kill 2 birds as it were and not have to go home between working in the office etc. She was winding me up, as she often does, by being a bit of a mug in regards to my sister and she had had a drink which is never good with her.

Anyway I ended up leaving hers to avoid an argument. I had in my head we were meeting at 7 so left at 6:45 got there about 6:55 sat in the car replying to some texts and then rang the doorbell at bang on 7.

This is when I then realise I might have made a mistake. The dog starts barking and then I hear the toddler yell.

BFs husband invites me in. I sit down and he goes up to help with said toddler and swap with BF. On the cross over on the stairs I hear BF say he had just gone off but is awake now 😬

BF comes down and we have a hug and a chat. BF then says other friend is on their way and I realise my error.

We were meant to be meeting at 7:15 not 7. I profusely apologise and BF said it's OK I'm used to your sister (who I have ranted about previously as she is always 30 mins early at least) I said noooooo I just got my times wrong.

When other friend arrives at the right time, they have kids and obvs know not to ring the doorbell!!!! So as they was expecting her at 7:15 the door was ajar ready for her to just walk in 🤦🏼‍♀️

So basically toddler doesn't end up going to sleep until nearly 9pm! And dad missed dinner with us and basically had to eat his pizza cold 😬

My husband was like well BF should have said don't ring the doorbell. I said I shouldn't have been 15 mins early.

Anyway, well done if you have made it this far!!! I was thinking of sending them like £10/£15 just eat voucher or similar with a note apologising and saying treat yourself to some hot pizza?

Am I overthinking and should just leave it? And the voucher is a bit much? Or is that a nice gesture when I woke their kid up? Or will they think "oh dear child free idiot thinks this one bad night was her fault, how silly of her"
You’re very kind. I wouldn’t send them a voucher though.

Thanks, yeah you always hope it never needs used, unfortunately my last bun cost a few hundred before she died so it's why am going for it now, just hoping it won't be a case of getting it then they won't cover somthing
I completely understand and I do think the T&Cs and fine print can be quite confusing, as with any kind of insurance, you can tie yourself up in knots with it. It sounds to me like you’ve got the basics down with a dental plan and long-term illness, they would be my main concerns for a baby rabbit too. Good luck with it, I hope you manage to get something sorted that you’re happy with and that gives you peace of mind. 🤞🏼

I can imagine the frustration when you're only looking to clarify your tickets ,just see what CA recommend and take it from there ,it's strange they'd contact winners to then ignore them  unless they've got a really lazy employee .
Thanks I will do, an I agree
