Did you order direct from them or through the likes of eBay ? If it's a credit card you would have no problem getting refunded ,debit cards are much harder though .
I ordered through a company called love my soulmate, yun express just ship it from china and then it goes to royal mail when it hits the uk. I emailed both companies (first email was a week ago to love my soulmate) but haven't had a response beyond an automated email. Tracking has said 'shipment information received' for the last 19 days, delivery estimate was two weeks. I paid with my debit card annoyingly but then I think the bank are usually pretty good. My issue is the fact they're saying its been dispatched and wether or not that'll affect me getting my money back and then how long do I wait before going down that route? Because obviously I don't want to do that and then have it turn up.

The upcoming rail strikes... (1st of October and 5th of October) is it worth trying to use the trains those days? I have an open return on the 1st. I know train companies advise you not to travel, but is it a case of "they're just saying that" or is it really actually inadvisable? I'll be using transpennine express if that matters.
I saw a notice on the platform the other day specifically saying not to travel. I think this is a particularly big strike with everyone involved.

Just looking for some advice as I’m not sure what to do or how to go about this situation. My friends in RL are split pretty 50/50 so I’m taking it to the Internet 😂

So last night one of our family cats died. I have three children (6 - just turned 6 today, 8&10) as you can imagine we are all devastated.

The vets have said we can have her cremated and she stay with them. Or we can pay a little bit extra and bring her ashes home. I can’t work out how to handle this situation, weather it’s better to give the cat some form of send off. Allow the children to say their goodbyes etc. Or let the vets deal with the cat and leave the kids to heal in their own space and time. Today they seem much more chipper however, I think that may be because it’s my youngest birthday and We are out celebrating. I don’t want to keep bringing it up and hurting them all over again but also don’t want them to feel robbed off saying goodbye.

Hoping someone can help with an idea.
It's my brother in laws 40th in a few weeks. Literally so stuck on what to get him. He's into golf, but my husband and and him 'buy' each other a round for their birthday usually so isn't special. He's a football fan and used to play for years.

What's a good present?! Would be nice for something he could keep. I have no ideas 😔
Id look at something more experience centred rather than an actual gift you can wrap. A voucher for a meal out at a nice restaurant? Night away at a hotel? Tickets to a gig or to see a comedian or for the football? Day out somewhere random for fun like an escape room or paintballing? Or something more memorable like a sky dive, bungee jump, boat trip etc
Unless you know of something that he genuinely needs or wants I’d not bother trying to buy him an actual gift.

The one I have now is speedo and it’s bobbled around the bum after a few months. I will give Nike a go though
What do you mean when you say it’s bobbled? If you are sitting on the edge of the swimming pool or other scratxhy surfaces they will make the little balls. You’re not supposed to do that because of the fabric

Hi! (TMI warning in advance)

I haven’t actually posted before but just looking for some advice …..

I’m not currently trying to conceive but we are planning on trying again in the near future (not currently not on any birth control just tracking my period and avoiding the ovulating week according to an app I have)

I felt a little sick a couple days ago and last night I took my period, 4 days early, I woke this morning and it was really heavy and has continued to be all day, way more than it ever has been in my life before, I have had some cramps but nothing unbearable, but there is a lot of blood (TMI) with what looks like some clots (but then again I don’t inspect other periods so this might be nothing?)

I don’t want to seem over dramatic and say I think im having a miscarriage as I haven’t experienced that before and didn’t miss a period to take a test - can anyone offer any advice does this seem like a random extremely heavy period that’s come on early or something else? Also if you were worried it was a miscarriage would you just see it through at home or seek medical advice, I’m really naive about this as you can probably tell and don’t really want to worry anyone over nothing!

Has anyone in SH had their windows changed? I'm due to have mine done ( will probably be done on the coldest snowiest day ;) ) Do they do all the work from the inside? Only outside my bedroom window (bungalow) I have a ruddy great pond.
Would like to know if I should see about getting some strong boards or something, but with the price of wood right now I would rather not
Give em a bell and ask! Then you can ask if you should be the one to make the pond safe or if they'll handle it. They'll want their contractors to be safe & aware of the pond. Usually most of the work is done from the inside. It'll very likely to be like-for-like which will be sorted very quickly indeed :)

Hopefully 🤞

Thanks, wasn't sure if they would be right or not, like am not sure if most would just tell me it must be a scam an to forget it, but honestly am getting more an more dissapointed, I seriously want to get out to the studios an paying for London will be expensive as it is without having to pay out for tickets
Have you tagged them on SM rather than just sending pm and emails? I find they are usually very fast to help if you tag them as other people can then see how you are being treated.

Cat owner problem!
we have a young cat who goes out durinf the day, she wakes up around 430 climbing over us….I let her out N get back in bed till 7 when I hear her at the front door. She has started to wake up early! Last night it was 215 she started! I ignored her for as long as possible (husband is a light sleeper so wasn’t impressed) she eventually settled down on me at 3! N woke up at 4! So let her out!
im hopin it’s just a phrase cos I don’t want her to be a night time outside cat!
any advice on how to cope with a early riser cat n how to stop worrying about her once she isoutside. She is my baby!
Sorry fir the essay! X

Trouble is once you give in to a cat that's it it wont give up. the only way is to not give in .. or to just let them come and go as they like. I try to keep them out of the bedroom as cats are nocturnal and will spend a lot of the night awake and waking you up (not so much in the winter but spring and summer are a nightmare) . if you don't let them in the bedroom they cant climb all over you.

My cats go out day and night. as the days get warmer and lighter they stay out longer and longer . they prefer to go out at night to the day.. both mine are now in and snuggled up and will be for most of the day come night they will be off.

Not really no, most gardens that everyone has is really small an I know their roots get incredibly long so it's too much a risk with the houses an I wouldn't like to put that on anyone with the house foundations

Tbh I really didnt think I was going manage to grow them, I had tried a few times years earlier for a while an they just never took off so for bored with planting, but these 3 are growing strong, all from what I found laying in a park an just decided one day to try it lol, it's maybe still a while before pots will no longer do but I feel they are ready for permanent homes at this stage as well

It's made me realise I kindi love to plant things an watch then grow now so really it's more my personal feelings that sorta pushing me to find a home for them lol, it would be nice to see them fully grown before I go if I could as well
Contact local schools/hospitals/councils etc to see if they have woodland or gardens etc that would take some new trees?

Will it work on this?😂🫣 I had previously attempted to get the wax out by stabbing it by the looks of it… 😵💫

Just boil the kettle and pour it in. Leav for an hour and you’ll have a solid block of wax at the top. Break it up and you have wax melts! You can always do it again if there’s residue after you’ve removed the block that floats to the top but I don’t find you get much more after the first time.

MSE has a good guide on how to get cheaper train fares. Also look at getting a railcard which gives you discounts on train tickets for a whole year?

Hope you enjoy your trip!

Was your last period lighter than usual? Many women have a "breakthrough bleed" in early pregnancy, which they often mistake for their period. Do a test to be sure!
it wasn’t lighter but it only lasted 4 days where usually they can last 5-7 days. I will do a test to be sure thank you

Random, possibly stupid, question: I need to replace my electric shower, pretty much like for like. The electric is there, the water is there, so really just swapping one for another. Do I need to find an electrician for this, or a plumber?

(any recommendations for electric showers gratefully received before I just take an uneducated punt on one!)

@Some People! I'm glad my post inspired you to book an appointment. I hope it went well!

An update on my situation - I was looking forward to the appointment but should have trusted my gut. The hairdresser completely messed my hair up IMO.

I let my hair grow out and it hadn't been tinted since before COVID so it was in pristine condition. The hairdresser told me the only colour should could give me was a dark chocolate brown because my natural hair is black. She advised if I wanted a lighter shade of brown, I'd need to do a balayage. I'd never heard of this before. I was a loyal customer of this salon for years before COVID and I never heard something of the sort. I wanted a lighter shade, not a hair full of highlights and I don't know what else. Then, I proceeded to tell her to pull my previous records and see what my other hairdresser used to do (the staff completely changed, but the records are still there). Supposedly she couldn't find my records even though they keep records from day 1. My bank account sure has those records dear!

Anyways, the balayage is 150e more than the "tint and halo" they offer. I politely told her my former hairdresser did a tint and never asked for a balayage. She then says she'll do the tint and halo and asked me to pick the colors. I went by what I used to do in the past (brown at the top and through the lengths with lighter streaks - not full on highlights - here as halo and there but really well blended with the root).

She did the hair and I could tell she was struggling. I go to get my hair washed, then they started the blow-dry and within 2 minutes I had to ask the stylist to call the colourist. My hair was brown at the top, a huge streak of blonde/orange hair that does not even blended with the root and jet black hair at the back / underneath. The colourist comes and says we'll tone it again, but insists on saying this is the colour I wanted. For sure I did not want three colors on my hair! They used the toner and started the blow dry again, it still doesn't look good. The top clearly looks auburn, the lengths look black and the lighter bits are almost green. Then she says "the bottom and top look the same" in the rudest manner.

I speak to her manager and say I'm sorry, I'm going to be honest, I'm not satisfied. There are three unblended shades on my hair and it looks a bit all over the map and streaky. He says no problem, I understand, come back another day, we'll get it fixed.

Then I go to the reception to pay, she is standing there at the computer. As soon as she saw me standing at the reception, she looked at me and walked away without saying anything. No "we'll get it fixed" or "I'm sorry it didn't turn out the way you liked but don't worry, it will be sorted". Not even a "thank you", zero even though I was about to pay. Now, I should have known she was bad news because she was not listening when I was trying to explain what I wanted, did not smile once from start to finish and while other hairdresser were chatting away with clients, she said zero to me (I don't care for chit-chat but she had an off vibe).

I get she may have been upset when I said I was not satisfied, but I was not going to pay 200e on something that looks absolutely horrific. No to mention, she told her manager "this is what she and I agreed to do". She was trying to blame me to save face.

Not only is my virgin hair completely messed up but I also wasted 4.5 hours of my life and she messed up my top which is filled with colour and my face (she managed to put colour all the way down to my eyebrows and cheeks). I used to get my hair done regularly and never had even as much as a single spot of colour on me.

They kindly did not charge me in the end and told me to com back. I am thinking I might go to another hairdresser to get advice first and see what they say as to how this can be fixed.

Here is what my hair looks like now - how does she think this looks good? You can't see the reddish shade at the top due to the flash, but it's there.

If you read the thread about neighbours you will know the "lady" next door keeps cutting my plants the 2nd they peek over the top of our fence. they are not hanging over, just peeking

Housing tell me to report it and I do, but get absolutely no feedback, its like "cut" I report... cut again I report, absolutely nothing back from my reports . How long does this go on for, is it worth reporting anymore. Surely its just manners to reply to my emails with at least some feedback?

I did think of this but we're semi friendly with the neighbours and don't want to be seen/ accused of hurting or causing discomfort to their cat.
We use a water pistol as we have a similar situation, it causes no harm but maybe explain it’s causing distress to your cat and would they mind if you sprayed it with water.
