I’m not sure, we never left the table unattended, although I the drinks were prepared at a bar where someone could’ve had access. I really wish I’d stopped drinking after the first couple and got my parents to come pick me up as I attempted to get the train home but ended up getting off to be sick which is where someone spotted me and called the ambulance. I didn’t really need medical attention but I probably would’ve done the same seeing someone in that state.
Quoting myself to say- now that I’ve sobered up a bit and can remember a bit more, I don’t think we were spiked and this was probably more due to lack of food and the fact neither of us have drank that heavily for a while. Still can’t believe I let myself get into such a state though!
The gasket from my blender has stubborn dirt. I’ve let it run through six dishwashing cycles and it won’t move. Does anyone have ideas that I can try out?
Yeah I am noticing my IBS symptoms have piled on since being off it. I get the odd day but the flair up has been quite bad. I eat relatively healthy, get more than my 5 a day, exercise and all that so I don't think it's my lifestyle and nothing has changed.
So i had a blood test and my iron levels are fine. I am thinking I may have PMD(D?) because mentally I take a huge plunge before and during
like I get quite suicidal. not enough to do anything but enough that I am thinking about it. This period I had a horrible moment looking at my curtain pole and had to take myself off to bed.
.
I just don't know what to do for the best. A bit of me thinks maybe I should leave it for awhile and see if things improve as it's only the 1st month but the other part of me thinks that it's not worth the stress. I will head over to the period thread though!
In relation to the part of your post under the spoiler. You don't happen to suffer with migraines do you? The only reason I ask is that I have a weird type of migraine condition and one of the symptoms connected to it was that I'd (having never really suffered with pmt previously) become so suicidally depressed I couldn't get out of bed. This was only during the 24 hours before my period started and would happen suddenly like flicking a switch and lift just as quickly once my period began. It was incredibly frightening because it was so sudden and the feeling was overwhelming. Between that and severe ovulation pain I decided going on the depo injection was the only way to manage it.
Thanks both. It's so annoying as I don't do these sessions that often but when I do my throat feels awful for at least another day. I don't even need to talk loud or anything seriously respect to those that do it every day as it is exhausting. But good to know it's fairly normal and not just me!
Anyone had success getting money back after buying something from a dodgy website?
My mum is very naive and bought some perfume online from a website without properly researching it. The perfume has arrived and it's clearly a fake, it says "Tester - not for sale" on the box. No info on the website about refund policy only a contact email.
She's emailed them to ask for the refund, but do you think the next option is to ask for chargeback with her bank?
Is it definitely fake? Like it's not just the tester thing making you think so? I used to buy from, I think perfume direct, and some were box damaged, unboxed , some testers (especially if discontinued) etc buy they were real.
My second learner permit has expired and I only have one more learner permit renewal allowed before having to re-sit the theory test all over again etc. You’re only allowed 3 learner permits.
In order for me to apply for my last learner permit, I need to have a test booked. The issue is I failed my test twice and I’m solely reliant on driving lessons as I’ve no one to drive with.
I’m therefore wondering if it’s even worth it for me to reapply for the learner permit and book a test given my track record. Or maybe I should abandon the idea of getting my license once and for all.
I'm in a union, not a big one though, and they can help with legal advice but they're a bit powerless. I've been trying and succeeding in connecting other employees who feel the same and we'll be sending an open letter to the boss soon, but I doubt it will help. He's the CEO after all.
That No- Bias person is seriously a great idea, one of my coworkers just had a call with him without anyone there and it wasn't easy from what I hear.
Yeah you honestly never want to do meetings without a witness there because the other can spin it an make them out to be the victim
CEO or no CEO, bullying still isn't acceptable an I've known some to take legal action against CEOs because of bullying/ racism/ sexism etc
If the job is truely enjoyable without him then call him out, I had a bastard of a boss an fought it all the way, while he wasn't a CEO, I did get him fired because of what he done to us all, maybe you could in a loud voice mention that you won't stand an tolerate bullying while in front of everyone if he's doing it, perhaps it might push him away a bit
Thank you. It's good to know I'm not alone.
I have managed it for years but there's an enormous amount going on in my life at the moment and I seem to have hit maximum capacity.
You definitely are not alone I think it’s good to see that you are recognising that you’ve hit maximum capacity. I found when I started to see the same patterns and the same bad emotions coming back with the the overwhelm etc that it is nearly like a light bulb moment. Try some things out to see if they help. I find pulling back and spending time alone usually helps me initially, Altho it’s not always possible lol Counselling is great. I hope you get loads from it.
I've read this three times just to make sure I'm understanding it. I don't think you're in any sort of conflict of interest. You could be on the interview panel and still move to your new position.
I can understand why you are stressed. I get a bit jumpy too when there are delays on things. I think it would be sensible to contact them first thing on Monday if you haven't received them. In the meantime try and enjoy your weekend (I'm making the assumption you work Mon to Fri, sorry if that's wrong). It sounds like your situation will work out well.
You’re right. I’m not interviewing my own replacement after all.
Monday is a public holiday over here, so that stresses me out even more. My HR contact told me to reach out if I don’t get anything by Thursday (yesterday). So I might drop them a line tomorrow afternoon or Tuesday. I don’t want to bother them as I know they’re busy.
I would think it could be the seal around the door? Ours started to crack and perish - you can buy replacements online and get someone to fit it. (Although for about a year I just put a towel down under the door to catch the drips).
What does everyone take to work for lunch or does anybody have any ideas of what I could have to mix things up a bit? (I work in an office with only a microwave and kettle for context). I am wanting healthy ideas but I am so bored of bringing the same things everyday (sandwich, jacket potato, pasta or soup).
I used to take mini packets of sunflower Ryvita & spread some lower fat Laughing Cow cheese triangles on them, filling & healthy. We had a fridge where I kept my cheese triangles.
Wear a mask on the train and in public places like shops etc until you know you are negative. If you can’t get hold of HR then go to work but wear a mask. Tell them once you arrive.
We don’t send peoole home with covid anymore but have them wear a mask and just keep a distance from them where possible.
In fairness though at our job it’s easy to keep a bit if distance.
I've talked to HR. They want me to test every morning but I'm ok to be there and no mention of masks. We have so many people ill at the moment it's crazy 🫨 not just Covid but other stuff as well.
I love and appreciate all displays of kindness and compassion. My mum is a big believer in the power of prayer. I have no faith of my own but I know that she would find comfort in it. She prayed for others so I’m more than happy for others to pray for her. Thank you
If there is a build up of soil/debris/leaves outside over the damp course/ footings, that might be a possible cause for the damp. You could try scraping it away from the house with a spade, then paint over that area inside and out with damp proof treatment.
Have you tried looking on YouTube? I always find their DIY tutorials very useful.
Could you have blocked guttering with the water dripping down the wall?
Not sure if this is the right place to post but I came off my pill almost 2 months ago. Had my first period last week - all seemed fine just the usual. I was on the pill in the first place because they were so bad i'd be sick.
I don't know what to do about the pill now though. I was very lucky in that I never had any side effects and it stopped my period completely. I am worried about the long term of being on the pill and all the horror stories but not having a period was really great as the mental side effects really take their toll and I get really bad fatigue.
I just don't know what to do for the best. There's a bit of me that thinks just take the easier route now and deal with the outcomes if they come later down the line but there's a part of me that is concerned.
This is a very personal choice and one you should make yourself. Weigh up the pro’s and cons.
From my own health experience I would opt for not being on the pill as I prefer not taking medication if I can avoid it.
I’ve had health scares in the past brought on by myself so trust me. Thinking you’ll deal with the consequences in the future sounds better than it is
CAN I PICK YOUR BRAINS ON DIFFICULT LETTER AFTER DEATH OF BROTHER
My sister-in-law has upset every single member of the family. She has absolutely no sensitivity and is a grifter. We have only ever been able to speak to my lovely elderly brother through her. Get the picture! i'm sure every family has one. Think Megan M. and double that.
How to word an e-mail insisting that only blood relatives are involved at this stage and we do not want her involved in our business until further down the line. I want to do it nicely as my deceased brother was such a kind and peaceful person and would hate any animosity. Any ideas?
This is so stupid but has anyone got any advice for a decent washing up liquid? I am happy for natural alternatives as well.
I’ve used Asda own brand and fairy but both have been absolute shite, my £3 bottle doesn’t last long at all as they don’t seem to bubble until I’ve put a lot in. I’ve tried different scrubbing utensils too but it’s not that
Method and Ecover don’t beat Fairy IMO and I’ve not found an own brand to match, they’re usually cheaper but use more. I love the old dishmatic sponge thingy though. Rather than fill the sink (unless it really need a soak) I do a shallow sink, put the plates in to wet/mini soak then wash then with the dishmatic under a trickling running tap. The water that builds up from that I’ll then put the glasses in, as it’s deeper, and do them the same way. Still only a sink full of water but works well as they dry quicker being rinsed if bubbles. That’s if there’s not enough for the dishwasher Tbf
I was honest scared to type something like this because I'd probably get hate for it but I agree, wasn't OP that decided they should have a kid, personally my neighbours two kids who are older screech morning to night an it really pisses me off as the parents do absolutely nothing, they don't cry or anything just that high pitched screaming, I don't have kids just my neice but I also don't want other people's kids to be my problem
That high pitched screech goes right through me. I tell my friends with children as they can see me flinch
We’be been very lucky in that the neighbours children are very quiet and well behaved All the other people are middle aged and well behaved
